mmm Baking a Treat - -

Hi! I actually got to craft last night! My hand is feeling better, I just have numbness from time to time, and last night wasn't too bad so Yea I got to color! I am not a happy camper if I can't color! :0)

I needed a simple Happy Birthday card, and this one really came together very quick... And it has chocolate in the the bowl so yummy!
This is Stampavie's Gillian Roberts "Baking a Treat".... I just love it! How adorable are these two bakers? I have colored with my Copics, and then added just a bit of Spica Glitter pen to the Chocolate in the bowl, and some white gel pen high lights. Then cut out with a Nesties Label and used a Copic to create a Mat look.

Now seriously, this card came together so fast. I needed it to be flat - (easier to mail) - I layered the yellow card stock base with a dusty pink and white card stock - then used one piece of K&Company Cut and Paste collection paper, I love the scattered layer look of this pattern paper - and again you don't need a lot when using it as it already looks like lots of different papers. And this one was perfect for a Birthday card as it has old recipes for Cakes on it! I sewed it with the mats. Then I cut out Happy Birthday from the pink card stock with a Sizzix Car Makers die, the cupcake is a part of that die... wasn't going to use it in the beginning and then I realized that the top corner was empty looking, and well... the cupcake fit perfectly. I colored the die cut with Copics and then Spica Glitter pens.

Again this was a fast one, but I so love how it came out - great image with the perfect paper helps a whole bunch!

Have a wonderful day - And don't forget my Candy I have going now.. link to the left :0)

Spoon Full of Sugar - A Recipe

A Spoon Full of Sugar today! And a Recipe for a wonderful card! 3 Pattern Papers and 3 Buttons - With that Spoon Full of Sugar it is sure to create something wonderful!

The sponsor this week is the stamp company Wags 'n Whiskers which is co-run by our wonderful friends Nikki and Lacey.

All the DT were lucky to play with their new releases this week... and me I was playing in the sand.

I have used the "required" 3 pattern papers, all from Heidi Grace. I thought the design looked like a sand dollar! Perfect for my Sand image! A EK Success border punch is used for the scallops, and I sewed everything together. The three buttons are from my stash - love that they have a pearl feel to them. The sentiment is also from Heidi Grace -

I colored with my Copics and then I just felt that sand needed that sun sparkle to it.. so I stickled it! The image is cut out with one of my label Nesties, then I outlined it with a Copic to have the look of a mat.

Please pop over to Spoon Full of Sugar and join our recipe challenge - make sure to see all the DT cards and the wonderful new images!

Animal Crackers - A Couple of First and a few Favorites

Hi - Wow I got so many photos this week... too many :0) So you will see a few of them next week!
It has been a very long week... Between spraining my hand, the heat, shearing a donkey and an emergency with a donkey... whew... I am glad this week is just about over!!  My hand is just about all well... the heat - it is still here and I know it is just the beginning. But first up for photos - how about Felicia's first hair cut?

Her fur was so long, that she was really feeling the heat. So she was the first in line to get her shaving this year. We don't shear all the donkeys, many of them I can comb and they slick off beautifully. But some, are just thick they have to be sheared. I wanted to show a during and an after photo of Felicia. But well... she still isn't quite finished and looks well... really odd. It got dark, and we all got tired :0) She was really great, no fighting us at all, I think she knew she was cooling off as soon as Hubby started. And now she looks so little!
Rosie will be next for a haircut. She is our sick girl... been ill her whole life. She actually is doing really well - I know she looks pretty shabby, but really she is better than she has been her whole life. And because of that we are trying something to hopefully add to her life. The meds she has been on make her feel better, but for long term will do serious damage to her organs. Every time we have pulled her off of them in the past, even just for a day - you can tell. She suddenly is off by herself, laying in the heat and not eating. Well three days ago we took her off of them, and started giving her a strong liquid Glucosamine and Chondroitin mixture. So far... she isn't showing any weakness - we will see how each day goes. Man I love this donkey -

Next... a photo says a thousand words right?

Yes.. if you are looking at this shot and wondering.... hmmm is that a donkey in their truck?  Why yes it is! We had an emergency this week - a scary one. Pepita, our tiny gorgeous little 4 month old little girl was hurt. We woke up early one morning to find her literally dragging her back leg and in pain. I don't have to tell you how scared I really was, we all know what happens to "equine" if they break a leg. And honestly I thought that was what we were dealing with. Because she was so young, we hated to put her into a large horse trailer all by herself, and honestly her mother is a pain to put into a trailer, she goes nuts... so we decided to just take the baby in the back seat of Hubby's truck.
She really enjoyed the ride, watching the cars going by us on the highway... as they were looking strangely at us - you could see it on their faces. "wow look at that large dog in that truck, uh hmm uh wait... uh that is a donkey!" Pepita also come to really enjoy those vents coming from the dash... mmm coooool air!
Because we did not have an appointment, we had to wait for the Doc to have a few spare moments for us to see how serious she was. They said we could drop her off and come back later, but uh no, this is one of my babies and I want to be here when he looks at her. So in a pasture behind the clinic we waited under a shady tree. Pepita was so good, she talked to the horses in the stalls and didn't really pull on the lead much at all. Despite the fact she has never spent any time with a harness or lead. You can see in this photo she is putting no weight on that back foot, but she had stopped dragging it at this time. Then by the time the Doc came out... she was walking on it. Go figure... children never show the sickness once you get to the doctor do they? She was diagnosed with Upper Fixation of the Patella - for you and me... her knee locks into place and won't bend. Surgery is one of the only fixes, but he thinks she will probably out grow it - it may never happen again, and it may and if it keeps happening then she will have to have surgery.  But it ain't broke!! And there is a way to fix it. I think, and hope, it was a one time thing... this morning she was running full force, lapping the pen with her two 1/2 brothers Alonzo and Frio. AH... kids!
My Libbie photo this week... this is one of her new looks... You may remember that I told you she is Miss. Protect lately, always on guard and barking non stop at times. This is the first of those barking fits.. the ears go up, the eyes get really still and focus, she is listening to something, making sure it is a normal noise. Yes... I feel so safe with Libbie protecting me, at least I have a warning before something happens ;0) And she is so beautiful with those ice blue eyes!

My sweet Autie - just ending the post with pure cuteness! Those big brown puppy dog eyes melt my heart -

Hope you enjoyed this week - and that a few of these gave you a chuckle. A hard week, but all has ended up well - Have a great weekend.

Just Magnolias - It just takes two

Just Magnolias time - and this week it takes two... or with me.. three or four :0)  LOL The challenge this week is to use at least two Magnolia images on your card or project. I was having so much fun pulling images to go together I ended up masking and using four Magnolia images! And had a blast putting them together and creating a scene with them.
My inspiration was starting off with Edwin from the Spring kit - He is just too wonderful! I decided he needed a forest look behind him. And despite that I am loving all the wonderful blooms and growth of the out doors right now, I so wanted to use the Magnolia tree that had no leaves on it. I have the wonderful full tree as well... but it well, is just too cute for "Robin Hood" especially with the heart on it. This tree was too perfect for him, and was just wonderful to have the owl sitting on!! Now I stamped that owl just a bit off... and the limbs where going to end up to high for the owl - so well..... I drew in the limb that the owl was sitting on, made it so easy to guarantee that he was perched just right. Then while going through my Magnolia stamps I also found the mushrooms. They were wonderful for the base of the tree - I started to use some other background stamps for the left side of the scene - then decided that I needed some open space and blue sky to balance all the green and brown.  The masking on all of this took some thinking out, but soooo worth it!

For my pattern papers I used My Minds Eye papers that I sewed together. I found a gold buckle in my stuff.. added a green ribbon for a corner embellishment. Then a epoxy sticker that reads Make a Wish - for some reason that just fit...

And then I decided that it needed something to follow the Make a wish.. so I decided to finish the inside -
I used the same papers as the front, sewed them together, and then the sentiment is a Sizzix Die Cut - It's Your Day!   Was fast and works -

So you having ideas about two or more images that you can put together? Well pull them out and have some fun! Really makes your card/project your own - Now pop over to Just Magnolia and see how the other DT have put two and two together and made some great images work together! Then join our challenge for another chance at a great prize!!

Have a great Friday and see you tomorrow for Animal Crackers... got a couple of really cute "First" photos to share!

Sarah Kay - Isabelle with puppy Coco

I love this image, heck we know I love all the Sarah Kay images ;0) But this is one of my absolute favorites from the Stampavies latest release - Isabelle with Puppy Coco.
Just love that huge hat and that adorable puppy :0)  I colored with my Copics and then tore around the image and inked. Something a bit different...

And then look how different my card is! This was something I wasn't too sure about, but found it at a good price and went for it. This card base was cut out with a sizzix die! It is called Floral Flourish Card die - it is an XL Die and makes approximately a 5 1/2" x 4 1/8" finished card.  And I did get it at a really good deal... so I am very happy :0)  I cut it out once with the cream colored card stock, then twice I cut just the end of the card, once with scraps of green pattern paper, and then a second time with scraps of coral colored pattern paper. I layered over the ends of the card to give the floral flourish some pretty color.

The rest of my card was really simple, I found some scraps in the same colors - and sewed everything together - but some simple pearl embellishments on the corners and then a Thinking of You sentiment. Was so fast!  (well if you don't count my coloring time, I take a while at that sometimes LOL)

I hope you like my "new style" of card   - Hope you have a happy Thursday -

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Furry Friends!!

Hello - it is Spoon Day and today the theme is Furry Friends! This week sponsoring our challenge is the Lovely Melissa from MelJen's Designs If you would like to see more of Melissa's cute designs please pop on over to Whimsy Stamps on Wednesday where you will see melissa's newest Digi release for Whimsy.

For my card I just had to use her Collie - Reminded me of our Border Collie.. man we miss her.
For my card, I kept it kind of simple, I really wanted that Collie to get all the attention, I found a wonderful Sparkle Bone paper in my stash from Cloud Nine. Then used two pieces of card stock, a light brown and deep red. Love how they pop together. I sewed the papers together, then created a band across the middle with the brand new EK Success Paw Print Border punch. I love this new punch!!   The collie is colored with my Copics and I printed out a second dog to color the head and flower a second time and they are pop dotted off the main image - sorry forgot to take a photo from the side to show that.  Don't forget to pop over to Spoon Full of Sugar and see all the Furry Friends!

I sprained my hand Sunday night - and let me tell you not having my right hand is really becoming a pain... it is much better today - maybe I can actually get a few things done. Running late now though - suppose to take MIL shopping this morning. I just hope she doesn't have a long list, I don't know how into shopping I am going to be.

Have a great Tuesday -
