My Sugar Bowl of Love

I am soooo happy I got to take part in the third Sugar Bowl challenge. Love and Romance is the theme, and I think a Great Big Hug covers that don't you?

I used one of my favorite Sugars the Bunny... I just love her.

Now all of this is going to have to be really quick as Hubby is gonna be yelling at me really soon that I am holding everyone up. We are going on a field trip... taking MIL to the cemetery and on a few other errands, a day trip which should be a nice day the weather looks wonderful. One thing is we are taking Libbie, this will be her first trip "bye bye" so wish me luck.

Ok the card - I used two scrap papers, sorry I don't know the names just that they are wonderful pink and white papers. I stamped the bunny and the Alota Rubber Stamps heart Circle and colored them with my Copics. I then high lighted with my diamond stickles. Then sentiment in the center of the circle was just perfect for the bunny don't you think?

I punched the bottom of the dark pink pattern paper with Martha's small Valentine Border punch, then ran a piece of American Crafts ribbon across the top of it. I punched a bunch of EK Success Retro flowers out of scrap card stock. So many Valentine Cards the last couple of weeks, lots of scrap pinks card stock! I inked the edges of the petals, and high lighted with white gel pen. Put them together with jewelery spacers and mini brads and added a charm in the center flower. I then used a large metal corner that I found last week, these have been in my stash forever! Really I can't remember not seeing them in the drawer! I love how it all came together, very girlie, pink and white with the touch of brown.

Sorry to blog and run, but Hubby is tapping his foot. I am suppose to be ready to leave at 9AM... it is 8:31 at this moment, and I am sitting here in my robe and slippers and still need to get Libbie's things together - AHHH

HUGS to all of you!

MMMM back to a Spoon full of Sugar and a bit of Sugar Bowl!

Lots of Sugar today! Yes! I have my card for today's Spoon Full of Sugar and then for just a bit more Sugar I have a card for the new Sugar Bowl Challenge!

First my DT card for Spoon Full of Sugar -
This week is a FABULOUS sketch by Nikki! I love this sketch really a fun one to work with. And to also let you know to make you want to play even more there are some yummy stamps up for grabs from Alota Rubber Stamps!

For my card I used one of the new Stampavie stamps from Lelo Designs. Loving these new images there are so many fun ones to choose from! This is Little Susie, isn't she cute?

Now I wasn't a great organized person while making this card. I am going to blame all the cold medicine I was taking. I did not write down who the paper was from. And I think the maker is on one of these pieces sewed down. So it is real pretty...love the purples, but sorry no name. I used a purple card stock for the base, sewed down all of the pieces with a blanket stitch. My image is colored with my Copics then I cut her to give the appearance like she is sitting in a window. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. Love the ribbon it is from Heidi Grace and is layered on top of a satin ribbon. I stacked lots of Prima Flowers topped with jewelry spacers and mini brads.

It is a wonder sketch this week, with great prizes so why not jump in and give it a try this week! Hope you do!

Now for just a bit more sugar....

There is a new challenge site The Sugar Bowl Challenge, to use any Sugar Nellie Stamp! Well about time they have a challenge for all of these wonderful images!

For the first challenge they have a sketch - I used one of my favorite Sugar Nellie images and my favorite papers, DCWV Glitter Girls Nursery Stack. I followed the sketch as close as possible, sewed down things trying to make it flat... wow this was a tall stack of papers. My image again is colored with my Copics. The flowers are a gift from a sweet friend and are from Close to my Heart and are like paper clips, I broke it in half and used glue dots to put them down to make them go farther... thrifty huh!
Really wonderful new challenge I hope to take part as often as I can!
Well better get my day going. I actually feel almost human today I think I am on my way to breaking free from what ever sickness has had me all week. I actually may leave the house and do a couple of errands today... like finding some food to bring in as the fridge has nothing good to eat in it! Hope you have a wonderful day and have some time to take part in a few challenges and get inky!

A Spoon Full of Sugar "Recycled"

Today is the new Challenge day for A Spoon Full of Sugar! And the challenge this week is to use something Recycled.

Now that one got me for a while. I really was stumped.... Hubby and MIL was starving and we decided to go out and grab a bite to eat. While sitting in the restaurant I was going over everything in my stash that I had "saved" to use. We all know there are lots of neat things that can be used in our paper crafts, tags from clothes, ribbons from gifts... but I wanted something that would always be thrown out.

Well there it was sitting right in front of me. My MIL got a refill of her ice tea..... reached over to add a little more sugar, and dropped the empty packet on the table. The word Sugar - perfect for A Spoon Full of Sugars challenge! I used that empty packet as part of the sentiment on my card!

For my card I used a white card stock base and a scrap of K&Co. paper in a pretty pink pattern. I stamped out Sugar Nellie Maggie, as it has been a while since I have used her and she seemed sweet as sugar. I then played with a new tool I have had for a while and not used. I got the air gun for my copics....this could be addicting! Now this was my first time using it so I do plan to practice more and get better at it but not bad for my first attempt. She is matted with a scrap of yellow and gel pen stitched around. The sentiment "You are sweet as..." is computer generated and matted with the same yellow paper. I placed my sugar packet in a million places trying to hide some of the non-cute stuff, then punched a heart with my Fiskar's Squeeze punch. Added a yellow Doodlebug ribbon and a Martha Stewart flower, inked and doodled the edges and I think it is really cute. Definitely girlie... but cute.

Make sure to go and see the other DT cards... they were really creative on their recycling too!

I worked on a couple of other cards last night, but didn't get them finished. We had a Remote Control melt down last night. We have satellite TV out here in the country. Our remote went wack-o on us last night and quit working. We tried new batteries, took it apart, "gently" tapped it -HA! and well it is now in the trash can!!! In more than one piece.

Ok... no remote I didn't have a remote growing up I can handle this. AAHH NO I CAN'T!!!! You can't change the channel to the satellite box without the remote!!! The Yankee's were playing the Texas Rangers... one of my favorite games to see all season, and I can't get the stupid TV to work! So today I am going into town just to get a universal remote and hopefully I can program it to work! Wish me luck, I don't want to miss game two tonight.

And hopefully I can get some happy crafting done! Have a great Tuesday and hope you have some craft time too -

A double Katharina Sketch day!

Tuesday and that is A Spoon Full of Sugar time!

"We have the gorgeous Katharina as our guest designer this week who has created this fab sketch for us, if you haven’t paid her a visit pop over and take a look at her fab blog, and wish her well on her new adventure whiff of joy!

Don’t forget you must include at least one Sugar Nellie, Rachelle Anne Miller, Sarah Kay, High Hopes or a Hanglar Image somewhere on your design."

For my DT card I wanted to do something different, while going through my stamps I came across the Sugar Nellie Pirate Monkey... just staring at me... "I have never been inked....." it was saying. Well that was just sad, so I gave him a chance and while stamping I remember the fun sock monkey paper I had gotten a while back.

I colored this cute guy with my Copics and doodled the edges of the Nestibilities cut oval with a Sakura Red Glaze Pen. and then inked the edges to give an appearance of a mat behind it. I cut a circle for the Hero Arts Sentiment and did the same for it. The blue bands are embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. Everything is stitched down with a zig zag stitch with fabulous Red Metallic Thread! I so wish you could see just how cool it looks, that thread is awesome. I think it is fun looking... and I have a perfect idea of who I will be sending this one to!

And lets just make this an all Katharina Sketch day!

I got a chance last night to play with another sketch from her. Now if you haven't heard Katharina is starting a new stamp company! A Whiff of Joy is going to be one of those companies that everyone is going to be running to get all of the new releases, stores will sell out quick just from seeing the few samples she has shown on her blog I know I will be one with my nose stuck to the screen waiting impatiently for the "open for business" sign to come on!

The sketch is a challenge for a guest DT spot! Wow can you image how cool that would be! The DT was named this past week and it truly is a dream team, to join even for just a couple of months would be a dream as well! Make sure to check out the fabulous ladies that have been added to that team.

For my entry into her challenge I went with one of my all time favorite Sweet Ebony stamps. It just makes me totally happy and smile the entire time I color this adorable little lady. She is colored with my Copics, white gel pen and Glitter pens for her locket and buckle.

For my pattern paper I had this wonderful Bo Bunny floral paper, love the country look of it and perfect for the image. I then used a piece of Coordination's red paper and ran it through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing folder. I sewed everything down, zig zag stitch for the backgrounds and then a blanket stitch around the image. Then in a my masses of ribbon I found this checked ribbon that matches perfect.

The sentiment is from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and I know I have used it a few times this last week... can't help it I love it! But I did just get a few more from the LSS... so there will be different ones coming. I punched it with the smallest Fiskar's Circle Squeeze punch, I placed that on a red Prima flower, and the with the medium Squeeze punch cut a slightly larger circle out of the card base green so the red flower would pop off of the red card stock.

I love how it came out. The country feel, and the fact that she is one of my favorites is surely why! Make sure you check out Katharina's blog for more details of all the fabulous news she has been sharing!

Today is catch up day... catch up on laundry, housework, and of course some time to catch up on my favorite blogs and find a few new ones too!

And as for Donkey update... we are still on standby.... but with soon to be Hurricane Dolly coming they are sure to deliver at the most wonderfully fun time to be outside with them! =)

A Spoon Full of Sugar for the Guys - and Tilda is going on Vacation

Well today we have a Spoon Full of Sugar for the Boys! That is this weeks challenge to make a card to the guy in your life. "Man" cards are so hard for me, can't help it I think it is for most of us that love the girlie colors, the flowers, and the bling. But I went through my stash and found some Basic Grey boy papers and one of my cute new Sugar Nellie Hamish stamps and went with it!

I picked three different patterns from the collection and then used gold metallic thread to sew down with a zig zag stitch.

Hamish is colored in with my Copics and white gel pen. And matted with the same Basic Grey paper and the yellow base card stock. I stamped the sentiment Happy Birthday from Hero Arts on another scrap and inked the edges of it and the matted image. I then found two buttons in dark green and ran yellow cording through the buttons and tied off.

I think it fits for a little guy don't you? To see other boy cards and join in on all the fun... especially the chance at .... get ... this ... A fabulous Sweet Ebony Giddy Up stamp!!!! Click on over to the Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge site and give a guy card a try.

I also had a chance to tackle this weeks Tilda & Co. Challenge blog this week they were asking us to "Think of Others" to make anything other than a single card for someone. Well that was perfect timing for me. My MIL is getting ready to go on a vacation, her first in many years to just sight see and enjoy. She kept talking about finding a journal to write down her thoughts and what she sees during her trip so she can read it later and remember her time.

Well this is what I came up with. I took one of the oddly colored $1 journals from Micheal's, that I actually only paid 25 cents for on clearance, and I recovered it with a soft pattern paper from Making Memories. Ok that was a good idea, but man that was a pain! I uncoiled it and then covered and put a inside panel on it. Then I had to hand cut all of the square holes through all of the layers. That took a lot of time... had to do front and back.

I then stamped one of my new Tilda's from the Magnolia Summer Stamp Club and then stamped a purse from Sweet n' Sassy and then the fabulous luggage from Alota Rubber Stamps. I love them! I just wish I colored them differently, swapped the colors and did the darker for the main color and the flowers the peach. Oh well hind sight -

I wanted a little lace on it as it is for my MIL and needed more girlie, so I punched a border out of Bazzill cream bling with my Martha Stewart border punch and then used a coral ribbon across the top. I placed all the "art" onto the front and then used some Basic Grey alphabets stickers for the Title.

I am happy with how it came out and she loved it, so all is good. Now if she will only use it, she is one who tends to save and not use, why mess it up I made it for her so she can't ruin it by writing in it. I made her promise to actually use it so we will see if she does.
Gotta run, having lunch with a group of old friends today, laughing and eating and catching up! Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

So excited to have some SUGAR!

I have been so excited this weekend, but didn't want to let it out until it was posted. I was asked to join the DT at A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge Blog! You really must visit this one if you haven't yet, especially if you like Sugar Nellie, Rachelle Ann Miller, Sweet Ebony or Hanglar stamps! Thank you so much ladies for asking me to join in and I hope I can keep up with all of your talent!

My first card for them today is to show off some checks. I went a little country with my checks and the adorable Maggie feeding the baby lamb! I just love this stamp, she is so cute, and that baby well just precious.
I colored the image in with Copics and white gel pen, then for the lamb I used white puff paint to give her some fluff. I cut her out with my Nestibilities square and then a scallop to match the base. The pattern papers are all Daisy D's that I zig zag sewed down with pink thread. I also stitched the image to the scallops. I used the gel pen to dot the scallops and to stitch around the edge of the card. The sentiment is from Hanna stamps. A very country card, but hey she is feeding a lamb so it just had to be.

My second card today is for the Penny Black Challenge. A shout out to Sue for the image, thanks again buddy! I have a bunch of Penny Blacks on order =)! I just love this one, how funny is it that this group of mice are crank calling the cat! This is my kind of group of friends... which is the theme for this week! A card for Friends. I colored it with my Copics, and white gel pen for high lighting. I also used my Twinkling H2O's to make the face of the phone light up - but it isn't showing in the photograph.
I Cut the oval with the Nestibilities, and then matted it on Basic Grey Boys paper, I used my Fiskar's Deckle scissors and cut around the oval, then matted again on the green Bazzil Bling card stock and cut again. The same was used for the base, and more of the Basic Grey papers, love the bright fun colors and I thought the numbers in the paper went well with the phone.
I stitched them all together with something new for me. I used metallic embroidery thread in my
sewing machine. Ok this stuff is really cool! It looks like metal! Duh guess that is the point isn't it. One hint, don't run the machine very fast at all, or the thread breaks. But it is worth the time to go slow, it really is cool in person. I then added some orange dot ribbon for borders. The "Friends" stamp is one of my clearance stamps from Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago! I only pain 1.88 for it! Great deal huh! I colored in the letters with my copics and then again with Spica Glitter Pens. I matted twice and then stitched around it and the image. They were both attached with pop dots to the card. I love it! This image just makes me smile! And I can't wait to get my news ones, there are some really funny ones in that order too!
Well it is MIL day. (the day I take my MIL shopping and to run errands) We have a few returns to do, and lots of coupons for lots of stops.. Micheals, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's just to name a few! Whooo Hoo!
Hope you have a great Tuesday and have some crafting time!

Day Dreaming and Dress Up -

I hope you get my ATC today... I showed it to Hubby and after a couple of hints he got it. The Challenge today at Tilda and Friends ATC is Bits and Pieces.

"The challenge this week is to use some of those bits and pieces of card and paper which we all have lying around on our desks. We would like you to make your ATC using bits and pieces which measure no more than 1" x 2" (2.5cm x 5cm) - we won't be measuring though!"

I have plenty of left-overs so this was no problem, but I wanted to do something different. I went thru all of my Magnolia stamps and tried to get some inspiration. I then pulled out my Fiskars square squeeze punch and got myself a bunch of 1 inch squares. As they piled up they reminded me of a "quilt"! Oh I can make a crazy quilt, and place Tilda in the grass, on the quilt! I Colored Tilda with Copics and high lighted with white gel pen, then cut her out. I cut my ATC size and then place all my squares randomly onto the ATC, then cut down again. I used a dark green Sakura Glaze pen and did crazy type of stitches on each block. Now Tilda needed some pillows. I started to try and cut out a pillow shape, but then thought these large buttons had a fun look. So did you get it?

My second card is for the Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge. Which was really fun this week. It is a 3-2-1 Challenge. 3- brads or buttons, 2- pattern papers, 1- flower. So I got out one of my new Sugar Nellie stamps. I picked Dress Up Maggie, cuz she looked just too fun to color it. I reached for my Copics and did her face and hands and then stopped. I need to try something new... So I pulled out my Twinkling H2O's and colored the rest of her with them. Ok, need to practice this cuz I am not happy with my results. I highlighted with the white gel pen, and Sakura Glaze Pens, but I just am not happy with it. I will be trying this again and doing lots of practice I guess. I cut her out with my Nestibilities Oval, and then matted with pink Oval scallops. I chose two piece of scraps that matched her dress and boa, then chose the base for the card out of my stash of card stock. I used some of those Cloud 9 gel stitch stickers to place around the edges of the pattern paper, I think it gives it a lace look. Now I was trying out lots of brads.....then due to the girlie theme in the card I went to my vintage buttons and found three matching pink buttons. I ran mini ribbon thru it and tied. My flower is a I think from Creative Impressions, it is a left over, but had some bling glitter and I thought it would work. I have a million primas... really I do, but not one was the right shade of pink! The sentiment is from Hanna Stamps and I think is perfect for Maggie.

Lots on the schedule today, including Bonnie Blue's full tune up. (Bonnie is my border collie, my child) Today is all of her shots, and full physical. Love her vet as he really checks her out top to bottom and makes sure she is doing ok. Hubby is off to go with us, so I am sure we will be doing some chores that he has on his list today. Hope your Thursday will be great!

A Little Sun...and A Little Sugar!

Sorry I am late this morning... one of the Donkeys Cocoa was down this morning and wouldn't get up. So I have been in the barn making sure she is ok. I think it is just a stone bruise on her hoof, she finally got up and is limping a bit but doing better. Now to work -

Tilda and Friends ATC Challenge this week is "Give Me Some Sunshine". Ok we have lots of that to share here in Texas! I would gladly give some to someone for a day or two of rain! When trying to decide what I was going to do, I remembered my new Summer Background stamp! I stamped just the part of the sun and hill on the ATC, and colored it in with my Copics. The Sun I then colored over with the yellow Spica Glitter Pen. Now I was going to put a Tilda on the hillside, then came across the kitty. We all know kitties love to stretch out in the sun... so mine is enjoying the warmth in the sun. I really don't know why threaded the yellow cording around it, but I like it. What about you?

A Spoon Full of Sugar! YEA I finally get to participate in this blog! I got my Nellies in the mail yesterday! Whoo Hoooo! I was so sad that I didn't get to play last week for the 1st challenge, but now I can! So this weeks challenge was to use the colors blue, pink and green. Ok, no pattern paper with all three to help me there. So I had to get creative. I used two pattern papers from DCWV Nana's Nursery Girl stack. I based the card with a light blue Bazzill Bling, I colored this little Dancing Maggie with a pink and green dress and shaded her with a light blue to match the card stock. I matted all of the pieces with shades of green, pink and the blue card stock. Rounded all the corners and doodled around everything... ahhh that felt good haven't been doing much of that lately! I then pulled out 6 of my Micheal's Bridal Confetti flowers in sparkling white and added some Bella Baubles in pink. I did not put any sentiment on the outside of this card, I decided to wait and see what I was going to use it for. I love the colors together, very soft. Great challenge ladies!

Well off to check on Cocoa, then get some house work done.
