My Scrap Box. I have had a million different scrap storage items. And most I would use for a short time, and then forget about it. But this one.. I seem to be using, and working out of much better, I have worked with system for almost a year now! This box I got at JoAnn's on sale. You can see it online HERE , it is called a Handy Scrapbook Carrier. (should have cleaned off my desk better before taking this photo... )
It comes with a removable box lid, that you can put small items into - I have that on the shelf, and I leave it open to get paper in and out of easier. It comes with a few file folders, that work great for sorting.
In the front I put all my Papertrey White cardstock I use for my stamping. I use every square inch of this stuff! Then the files are sorted in 1/2's - browns/ blacks one side of the folder - then cream's and whites on the other. Next folder pinks/reds and then yellows and oranges... and so on.. the back of the box is my favorite pattern papers that I love and use every square inch of.
No longer do I save every little piece of card stock. I just don't end up using them, and then they takes up space. So 1/2 sheets, or 1/4 sheets of card stock are put in here. And I do use them - The box sits on the floor right at my feet under my desk. Before I get any new card stock out - I check the box to see if I have anything large enough to use. Best system I have had for scraps and I am thrilled that I use so much of it when crafting.
Now I also started this regular to my blog on Wednesdays to show things in "My Space" - things that make me happy in my craft room - Today I want to share with you one of my most treasured items. Hubby bought me this as a birthday gift a while back, we collect lots of different antiques.. paintings are one thing we both love - I love the look of mid 1800's art - the style, the peaceful feel of them. Hubby found this painting that we believe to be from about 1860 or so.... it became an instant favorite of both of us - it hangs just above our Computer desk in my Craft room.
You see why I love it so much? The frame is not perfect, but I adore it. And the subject matter... well hello - donkeys!! I just adore this painting. Just looking up from my desk and seeing it across the room makes me smile -
As I share some of the items I have used to decorate my room, you are probably going to learn a lot about me personally - hope some of the things I show in the future doesn't scare you about me.. LOL My room is "Me" and it really makes me happy to be in it. I have the bestest Hubby in the world to have built this room for me just over a year ago.. (can't believe it has been that long!)
How about if I do some candy today? Just a simple little blog candy - something easy to ship out and share with one of you... My Baker's Twine that I got last week!
I have here eight different colors of Baker's Twine from "The Twinery" to share with one of you - Just leave a comment here, and then next week on my "Me and My Space" post I will have a winner! I love this stuff - and hope you will too!HUGS and-

Hi Michelle, what a great way to store the pieces left (I always put everything in a big drawer and it is not be found anymore at the time when I need it). Will check out the stores overhere to see if they have something similar. The painting is adorable. I agree with you on the frame, but of course it is the painting which is the most important. Would love to share in this candy, the only colour available here is white/red, have never seen those other most beautiful colours. Thanks for sharing it with us. Hugs, Helen
I am loving everything Ive seen in your art room and I know you love creating in it. The painting is certainly you and I know you were excited to find it. Keep sharing with us your wonderful art, I can't wait to open your emails each time they come.
Das sind tolle Bänder und die tollen Farben.
Du hast ein tolles Bastelreich.

Thank you Michelle, I'm really enjoying the journey through your craft room, partly because I'm jealous that I just don't have the space you do! Love your scraps idea, I keep every little scrap but maybe you're right there are tiny scraps that I just don't use and should just stick in the recycling bin!
Hi Michelle, as always, love your storage idea. I'm afraid I'm at the stage where I still keep all the little bits, but they're in a tin on my desk, and it's amazing how many times I reach for them when I want to make card candy, or a leaf or flower.
Would love to win your candy, as I've had my eye on this stuff for a while now, but really MUST NOT buy anything new for the next month, as I'm saving up for a craft show at the beginning of February.
Hugs

Michelle, I love that antique donkey pictures. It is wonderful.
Things don't have to be perfect to be our favourites. Often it's the flaws that you make you aware that somethings is loved.
I too have a plastic storage bin that I keep my card stock in with hanging file folders and I keep all my scraps in one side of the folder and full package in the other side, similar to what you're doing here. That seems to work great for me... except it's getting a little too full.
That twine looks fun! What a great selection of colours. Thanks for the chance to win some.

I love reading about how you are organizing your space. I like the scraps idea. I have a growing pile and my current scraps case is buldging.....and I need to rethink it, so I use it. So thanks. Love bakers twine, thanks for the chance to win!
Hi sweetie! That box of yours is fab. So easy to look in and find what you need. Try to find something like that for myself I think. Cute picture your hubby gave you. :)

Hi Michelle, hope you're having a great week. Yet again, you have great storage ideas, my scraps are in boxes all over the place. :)
The painting is lovely, yes, the frame is not perfect, but I think it adds to the charm of the image.
Thanks for offering the bakers' twine. I loved it when I saw it on the Stampington site.
Hugs.
I have redone my scraps many times but I may just have to redo them again like you did. Love it! Great ideas with the punches and now the scraps! Thanks for the inspiration
I am really enjoying seeing your crafting space. I finally got my DH to agree to set up a craft room in our home and I am getting lots of ideas from your posts.
Thank you for offering this gorgeous baker's twine.
I just had to smile when I saw that picture from the 1800's. :-) Even before I scrolled down to see it, I just knew it would be a donkey. LOL
Fun blog candy - thanks for the chance to win. I'd love to see you use these twines on your artwork for inspiration. Hugs!
I love, love, love your painting. The shabby frame is CHIC!!!
I have the same tote/file box for my scraps but not so nicely organized. LOL.
I just ordered the same twine. But go ahead and add me to the list, I will share it if I win.
(I don't think you can show us anything that will scare us away.) :)
Hugs....
That is a great idea for storing your scraps. I have mine in a box but not really sorted by color. I think if I did that I would probably use more since I would not have to dig through the whole box. Thanks for the tips, love seeing your Wednesday posts.
Michelle,
I like your sorting method for the scraps. Mine are just thrown in a box if they're less than 1/4 sheet. I put the 1/4 sheet and larger back with the full sheets. I know I should throw away the smaller pieces... I've finally been able to make myself thrown away scraps that are less than 2" square, unless it's patterned paper that I really love.
Think I have a hoarding problem here...
The twine looks like great fun to play with, I haven't seen anything like it.
Thanks for sharing your talents and your critters.

Michelle: Thank you for sharing your stamp room and it's organization. These posts have been helpful. Your donkey painting is beautiful and I know you love it. Baker's twine is something I would love to have. Thank you for the opportunity to win some.
hi huni love your storage idea mine is a bit messy -oops lol and omg your picture of the donkey is gorgeous and i love the frame too.
The twine you have is super gorgeous i have not seen any like this before so thankyou for the chance of winning and the colours are lush,Have a great new year huni xx
I have seen this twine on some of your posts and have loved it!!! I am enjoying your posts about your space and have copied you on some of the things to organize. You're right,... keeping little pieces of cs that you will never use is suc a waste. Guess what i'll be doing this week-end!?!? I'm so glad to hear you say those encouraging words of throw-away!! Here's keeping my fingres crossed that I will be lucky enough to get the bakers twine!

Thanks Michelle for sharing. I love the storage tote. Just happen to have a few in storage from my days of teaching. Now I can bring at least one out and have a great use for it. I love your ideas, they are so helpful!
Are those all the scraps you have??!! Good job throwing stuff out. I do keep little scraps as I do so much layering. I use folders by color too, but I keep mine in a basket bin thing. Works good for me. TFS
I am always looking for ways to store my scap papers. I'm glad to hear that you don't save every last piece!! I so look forward to your "Animal Crackers!" Thanks for the chance to win the twine!!
This solution sure looks cool, and is just what I need too. I´ve been using a big basket for all my scraps, but it´s almost impossible to find what I´m looking for, when I need it, so I often end up with just grabbing a new sheet then instead of using a scrappiece, as it takes too long to find, so this seems like an awesome idea. Thanks soo much for sharing all these great tips with us, and thanks for the chance to win this. I never saw this before, so I don´t know it, but it loooks pretty cool, I must say.
of course im in for your candy. love that pic of you and your monkey. i have been popping in for a while now and tought that it was time to say that.
Hi Michelle what awonderful painting, just love it. Your candy is wonderful I love to join it. Hugs Marja
I love your system for storing your scrap papers. I find that I often dont use mine =( I need a much better system. In fact just a few days ago i was sorting out my scraps drawer and I threw away all the small scraps and started sorting them my colors. I hope one day I can be as organized as you. Also love the frame its so you!
Great system for your scraps, Michelle. I love the donkey picture! I like the fact that you decorate your room with the things that make you happy. That's the way it should be. :)
I tried keeping my scraps all in one container before, but I found it easier to separate them. I have my papers organized by style and then subcategorized by color so I keep the scraps of the same type in a plastic zippy bag right with the paper style. It was easier than sorting through all the bits each time in hopes of finding what I wanted. I am jealous of the amazing collection of stamps you're hoarding in that donkified (donkeyfied?) room of yours! :) ~Christy
I have tons of scraps all in one drawer, love your way of storing though.
Happy crafting
Tracy x

Nice to know someone else doesn't save every tiny scrap! And I would love to see what makes your room you, we are all special and individual and our space should be for us and no one else.
That picture is so darn sweet-I want to reach out and touch it!
That picture is so YOU. What a find for yall. What are the odds of just running across this? I was just thinking about ordering some baker's twine. Guess I'll wait a week, LOL. Thanks, ms.cheryl
I done the same thing too, great mind thinks alike. Your looks more neater, I untend to save a lot of scraps. Love those twine, I only got the red one to make as Christmas tags. Thanks for sharing.
I've been throwing away my scraps for lack of a good storage idea. Thanks for sharing! This is great :) Lucy iluvlu2003@yahoo.com
Love the Donkey Art! Too precious! The bakers twine looks great too! I've never played with it before...
I have been enjoying all of your blog posts...a great idea for scrap storage. I so need to get my "stuff" organized!
Love the painting...we have donkeys also.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to win some of your Baker's twine. Have not seen an array of colors such as that.
Have a great weekend,
Di
I love how you share items about your room. This craft creates a lot of mess and it really helps to be organized. So, seeing how others utilize their space is a big help. I love your tips as well. And, you have to have things in your creative space that just make you smile! It really helps when the creative block hits you! I love the baker's twine. What pretty colors. It is such a fun product to use! I hope that I win.
Convene in poker space, casino and sportsbook with individual Username. I found it totally handy and straightforward to get the gist as I am not home-grown english speaker. http://tinyurl.com/34q69d2
What a cool idea. It's great for all those little pieces that get stuck in the back of the draw.
hugs,
Brooke
I have used my hanging files for my scraps for a few years now. I need to try to not save those tiny bits and pieces though. You are right, they will probably never get used so why save them. Great idea.
stamping on...
Hi Michelle! I enjoy peeking at your blog every week to see your animals, your stamping space and your beautiful creations! Thanks for sharing! I have lots and lots of scraps and have come to the conclusion that I need to get rid of the bulky little pieces too. The Bakers Twine looks fun - so many colors! :) Blessings!
Thanks for sharing the way you organize your scrap paper! It is such a treat to visit your blog and see your wonderful card creations along with the updates on all of your adorable animals!
