Spoon Full of Sugar - Sewing/Stitching

Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge! And the challenge today is sewing or stitching on your project. Well that is all me :0) For my card I dug deep into my stamps and pulled out an old favorite! Cornish Heritage Farms Friendly Critters. I totally adore this image!

 I love coloring these images, and was so sad to learn they are no longer made. I always wanted to collect all of them, but only got a few. These images have a ton of detail, and all though they look hard to color they are not. I colored with my Copics.

Now for the card.

 

Decided that because I dug deep for the image, I should use one of my older paper stacks as well. Found K&Company's Cut and Paste stack. Really wonderful papers, with that collage feel to them. I took one of the papers, and cut it into pieces, and sewed down in a random pattern. I sewed a pattern into the bottom edge of one of the pieces. Then like a ding dong I covered it up with my punched flowers...duh... but it is popping out just a bit. The flowers are EK Success and the leaves Martha Stewart Frond leaves. The centers are Liquid Pearls.  I also added three more dots to look sort of like buttons or brads on the right side, above the typed words (these are on the pattern paper, but they look like I typed them don't they!) The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

I had fun with this card, and it went so fast... no thinking really - I think it was the paper.... just matched up! Now make sure to head over to Spoon Full of Sugar and see all the other sewn projects!

Today... I think we are going to head up to Ikea... about a 2 hour drive, we need some bookcases and what ever else we happen to find there... wink wink....

Dust It Off Sunday - Cornish Heritage Farms - Friendly Kritters - Bunny Presents

Now you may think I am nuts - I made this card a little while back, for Dust It Off Sunday...and I can't find where I ever showed it! I think my plan was for it to come on when I was gone at CHA, but then I didn't get it scheduled. But I can't find where I ever posted it... but maybe I did? Oh well if this is a second viewing of it... I think it is cute enough for two! LOL Yes.. I am loosing it...

So my Dust It Off Sunday card this week is from Cornish Heritage Farms - Friendly Kritters, by Tom Allen - love his Kritter stamps. Now I am wishing I had gotten all of them.. sigh - just love them, I have a few.... and this is one of my favorites -

I colored with my Copics - and then oval cut with a cream colored mat.

For my card I used October Afternoon papers. I totally adore these papers. The vintage feel and the colors they use - just love them! I kept the layout pretty simple - That bunny needs all the attention! I sewed down the layers, and then ran an cream colored satin ribbon under the oval. Two red buttons were just perfect beside the bunny. I tied those off with red and white bakers twine that I stained just a bit with Distress ink... that white was just too white.

The sentiment I found in my stash... I think it may be from CHF as well.. problem with older unmounted rubber... If it ever gets out of place, it is hard to remember the maker. Darn It... makes me made when I mess something up like a makers name.

Cute Card Chipmunks -

I pulled myself away from my Sarah's... LOL just for a moment to make this weeks Cute Card Thursday Challenge. I decided I needed to pull out some other stamps that I love that haven't seen ink for a while.

Cornish Heritage Farms has a set of stamps called Kritters and they are just absolutely adorable. I mean how cute are these two guys? Perfect for the challenge this week of Animals only. Stamped and then colored with my Copic Markers, and white gel pen the detail of these stamps just pop and really are amazing.

The base of the card is pale green with a creme colored piece punched with one of the new Fiskar Border Corner punches then backed with pink to show off that fabulous punched card stock! These new border punches are amazing and so easy to use. The pattern paper is a scrap from my stash then embellished with Prima flowers, a Queen & Co. big brad and these totally cool metal corners! Are the beautiful or what, but lets just say this card will not be mailed... it ended up pretty heavy.

Donkey update.... Both Jazz and Patti are looking like are going to deliver any day - I have explained to both of them that I am over booked for the next three days and waiting until Tuesday would be great... they don't seem to care about my schedule and just want to get rid of the large mass of belly they are carrying in this horrible heat and humidity. Don't blame them, they look miserable. We have some storms in the forecast for next week, that is usually when they seem to deliver. So we are still on donkey watch and my life is hour to hour with all of my plans...

Well tonight is my midnight crop, then all day Saturday til midnight - Fun with friends but wow... I am gonna need lots of caffeine! Unless the Mommy's to be change my plans =)

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

Ok, I tried something a little different on today's card. I wanted to use one of my new Penny Black stamps, but couldn't find the perfect pattern paper to go with it, then remembered the quilt squares I purchase a while back. This one seemed just perfect. So no pattern paper, just pretty fabric! I sewed down the square onto a black piece of card stock, and the placed that onto the red card base. I then matted the image and the sentiment "What's Moo?", from Cornish Heritage Stamps, with the same red and black. I did a blanket stitch around each of them. Ok, the sentiment was tough! But I still have all my fingertips. After attaching them with glue dots, had to make sure something would stick good to the fabric. I found three velour flowers to place on the bottom left corner. (Oh and I forgot to mention the image is colored in with my Copics - but you probably already knew that)

I spent so much time playing with this card, I didn't get to the card I had planned for Cute Card Thursday Blog. The theme this week is The Great Outdoors... then I figured, hey I don't know anyone that keeps their cows inside, they are always in the great outdoors so this one sort of fits.... I am going with that alright? But do check out their site and see some really great outdoor cards!

Ok it is bold and kind of bright, but I love how it turned out! My Sister who collects black and white cows will love this one!

A guy card, and two ladies -

I got a new camera last night... so you might be seeing more "nature" photos, meaning more of my babies. You know I have to learn how to use this fancy thing and I do have lots of subjects to pose for me. So please bear with me.

I will go ahead and show today's card first. The challenge this week at Papertake Weekly Challenge is to do a card for the fella's in our life. Well I made one, a very serious, adult card. Showed it to hubby and he said man that thing is blah. Really not your best work dear. Do one of your fun stamps instead. Uh well... ok.

So I went back to my desk and pulled out this "fun" fella. He is a Rubbernecker Stamps image, I colored him in with Copics and highlighted with gel pens, and Spica Glitter pens especially his buckle and gun. I then pulled out a sheet of Bazzill in the same shade as I used on my little dude to use as the card base. I used a piece of Papertrey Ink brown kraft paper to use my Cornish Heritage Farms Background stamp. How fun is it with all of these brands on it. So western. I tore the top right corner off just to look a little more rough. The sentiment is made to go with the cowboy, I love the barn wood letters. I doodled around things with Sakura glaze pens and a white gel pen, but before I stuck it all down I thought it needed something to "hold" down the sentiment, so I cut slits in the sides and ran a scrap piece of brown ribbon through it. I then showed hubby again, he smiled and said, oh yea that is better. More you. What ever that means...........

I took my new camera out this morning while feeding breakfast. I took 78 photos! These were two of my favorites. I really need to study the book on it and learn more. In case you want to know what I got, it is a Sony DSLR - A350K. I liked the live view tilting screen, the 14.2 mega pixels, and that all of the many lenses I already own fit! No adapters needed this was thrilling cuz these are from the film day and I haven't used them in forever. So this thing has more buttons than I know what to do with and I just played some this morning.

The first photo is our first baby girl Rosita. She is getting so big... why do they grow up so fast? She is not happy with me here. I usually get my head in the pen and rub faces and love on her, but I wanted a photo, so she is pouting here.

The next photo is one of our three standard Donkeys. They roam the property and keep us safe. =) That is their job anyway. We won't discuss the fence they bent from rubbing their heads and rear ends on it. Or the mirror they broke off my last truck, or the teeth marks in my new truck because I had left a bag of sweet feed in the back and they couldn't reach it! But I still love them, and Cocoa is the leader of the three and studies everything before she does anything. She is really beautiful.

Wouldn't a beach holiday be fun!

Yes, a beach vacation would be wonderful... but as I can't go. I will make a card with little Turtles enjoying the surf instead. This fits perfect for the Cute Card Thursday challenge this week. Vacations and/or Travel ... cards that show fun and vacation scenes. Well these little guys are definitely having some vacation fun! Me I would be the one kicked back relaxing, that is what my perfect vacation would be.....

Ok I will stop day dreaming and get to the details of the card. This card just fell together. In fact I really didn't think about any of the papers or embellishments. Now please don't tell me that shows =). I colored this adorable new Cornish Heritage Farms stamp with my copic markers and highlighted with my white gel pen. I then pulled out a package of Cloud Nine Travel papers and embellishments. It all went together. The papers matched, I matted each pattern paper with the coordinating solid papers. I layered them on a Bazzill Card stock. I double matted the image. Now I have to tell you about all of the stitching. Those are something new to me, they are from Cloud Nine as well. The are called 3-D Gel Stitch, they have adhesive on them so you just cut to size and stick them down. They are different, and come in lots of styles and colors. I won't use them all the time, but they are fun once in a while. I then added some Prima Flowers that seemed to magically be the perfect colors. The words are both chipboard and card stock stickers that are made to match the papers. It is a lot I know, but I was watching baseball, and it all went down and bam it was there. I hope you like it.

Well it is Friday, lots of things to get done... if I can quit picking up Gato and listening to that loud purring noise. Just too cute to not stop and play with and love on! Darn Cat! =) Have a great Friday!

Different for me, but I love this card pattern!

I love design of this card! I made it for this weeks Papertake Weekly Challenge Blog. This weeks challenge is one of Claudia's fab tutorials you can see her gorgeous work and the tutorial at her blog Pretty Pressings. What a different and fun card. Ok now it is not my normal style of card, but I really like how it turned out. I first made the base from plain white card stock. I then played with a million different pattern papers trying to decide which one I wanted to use. Then looked up at all of those background stamps... crying out to be inked. So I pulled down my paisley background stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms. Inked it up with Brilliance pearlescent sky blue and stamped it four times on the white card stock. I then cut the "panels" to fit the accordion folds of the card. I stitched around them with a Sakura glaze pen. I used a House Mouse dancing and stamped it three times and colored them with my Copic markers and cut them out. Stamped in the same blue ink the sentiment that matches the House Mouse stamp. I love this sentiment. I cut it with my Nestibilities Oval die and stitched it with the glaze pen. Place the mice on the card on every other panel, and then added the three clear Bella Baubles in the corner. Then I had to figure out how to keep it closed... I cut a small slice in the center of the bottom base, and ran the ribbon through and attached on the back with my adhesive. Ta Da! Tied in a bow. When I showed it to hubby he said... "nice ... doesn't look like your work... its to plain" But I didn't' think it needed more with the paisley pattern, and how would you close it tight if I added more. What do you think should I add more? I kinda like it how it is but maybe it does need some flowers or something. Love the pattern though and I am gonna be making more of them for sure!

I think Frogs in Bow Ties are Elegant?

HA! The Papertake Weekly Challenge this week is Elegant Embossing. Well I think Frogs in Bow ties are Elegant aren't they? This stamp is a new Friendly Kritters Stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms they are called Frog Chorus. They are just in perfect tune!

I colored them with my Copics, which is really easy with these stamps. The shading is all in the stamps! The detail is wonderful. I matted with a scrap piece of brown card stock. I took a blueish color or scrap card stock and ran it through my Cuttlebug and the Music embossing folder. I inked it lightly with a colorbox cats eye ink. The plaid glitter paper is from DCWV, and is from the Spring Glitter stack. The card base is dark green Bazzil. And for a little more elegance I used a piece of wide gold wire ribbon. The sentiment is from Aud Designs. Odd colors for me, I have been using so many lighter pastel colors, but it just didn't feel right for these guys. They needed some manly colors.

I am hoping to get some projects caught up today. Plus the normal things... like the laundry.

Giggle ... used my donkey stamps!

Ok, I not only collect "REAL" donkeys. I collect all kinds.... porcelain, stuffed, plastic, glass, even vintage postcards with donkeys on them. But I also collect donkey stamps! Imagine that! I use them on the outside of packages and envelopes, and occasionally I make cards with them.

Well this weeks Cute Card Thursday Challenge has a transportation theme. Well the wheels started turning... (no pun intended). A chance to mix my favorite little angel stamps, my Magnolias with my love of donkeys. Ok yes I know this image is Mules...I love them too as they are part donkey! The biggest struggle was size and how to position them. I then came up with this - I placed sitting Edwin on a fence in front of the pair of hitched up Mules. This stamp is by Wildlife Enterprises. If you like real life art stamps check them out! I am so happy with the how it came out! I used scrap papers on the green Bazzill card stock. The fence is a background stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms stamps that I cut apart. I colored Edwin with my copics and highlighted with my white gel pen and of course stickled wings. I also lightly colored in portions of the Mules image and the fence. The bottom of the card is stamped with a Rubber Stamps Tapestry Peg stamp then added prima flowers! The Howdy is from Cat's Pajamas Stamps. Now did this card bring together a lot of companies or what!

I also got the Tilda and Friends ATC challenge done, and I am so happy I bid on this chair stamp on ebay! This weeks challenge was to use checks. Ok, I love that, gingham is a favorite of mine, and I do have some new stamps to choose from. (see yesterday's post) Then I look over to the side of my desk and sitting there is a chair stamp that I won on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I purchased it for one reason only...... it looked like it was the perfect size to sit a Magnolia Angel into. And guess what - IT IS! How cute is that! I sat Baby Edwin into the comfy chair, and it reminds me of those silly toddler chairs that you can buy to match your living room furniture and your child can be have his or her own recliner to sit for hours in front of the television. Oh the world we live in! But it is cute... I stamped this one on a cream piece of card stock with my Brilliance Coffee Bean Ink, and I think it has a tweed look to it. Edwin was colored with my copics and his jumpsuit is paper pieced with a scrap piece of Daisy D's paper. I highlighted the edges of the same check paper as the background. Too funny huh!

Well gotta get busy. Lots of errands to get done, then I have to get home and get my stuff together because this is my crop weekend! Late nights, Long days of scrappin', and laughter with some friends! Yee Haw! Hope you have fun plans for the weekend too!

Elvis is ALIVE!!!!

YES Elvis is Alive!!!! Or at least he came alive when I added my new Spica Glitter Pens! Oh these are the perfect companion to my Copic Markers! The only thing missing from them was some bling baby! Hope you can see the sparkle.

The card... "Thank You, Thank You Very Much!" (In my best Elvis voice....common that has to make you giggle) is the sketch is from this weeks Papertake Weekly Challenge. It is a fun sketch and I had just gotten in the Cornish Heritage Farms Elvis Stamp so it went from there... This card is way out of the box for me. I miss my cute - but I think it came out ok. And I think I will keep playing with this stamp... I know someone that will just love it!


I used my Bazzil Bling white card stock, the yellow stripe patterned paper is from Cherry Arte and the musical notes are from It takes two. These are both papers that have been in my stash forever! I stamped Elvis with Brilliance Graphite Ink, and colored with Copic Markers and then colored over with the Spica Glitter Pens.

Well off to get the day going... and make sure to hummmm a great Elvis song today!

Clean desk - Crafty Mind

Doesn't it feel good to have a clean desk to work on? I spent a lot of my time last night cleaning and sorting my desk off. I found some more of my clear plastic desk accessories on clearance yesterday... so I had to buy them. The ones I had were more than full. You see I have greatly added to my CDs of stamps over the past year. I had maybe 50-60 CD's cases of stamps when I set up my desk last Spring. Now... Well lets just say I am closer to 200 than 100 of them now. Good thing I have a hubby that don't mind my addiction. He laughs and says well you don't drink and you don't smoke... so you have to spend money somewhere. Gotta Love him! Anyway now all current sets that I own have a home in a case and are labeled on a shelf right in front of my work space! Last summer hubby helped me put all my wood blocks on the wall with metal roof edging, so I could see them all. Now if the rest of my house was this organized life would be perfect! But as long as my stamps are I can live happy.

Ok now you can't tell me that this image isn't cute... I fell in love with Cornish Heritage Farms new Friendly Kritters that were just released as soon as I saw the sneak peak on Sherrie's Blog Card Creme. If you haven't ever seen her blog before make sure to check it out she is great. I knew I wanted to get them as soon as they were available. Oh they are even cuter in person! The detail in these stamps is just amazing.

I have really gotten into these square cards! Reminder to self.... I need to order more envelopes... The card stock is Bazzill and the pattern paper is again Basic Grey Blush I think. I can't believe I had these packages of pattern paper for so long and didn't even open them. I am really loving the colors in them. That is another reason to clean and re-organize once and a while. Anyway I used my Fiskars Border/Embossing Punch to create the lace edges, and stacked the pattern paper with a green card stock. The image is colored in with my Copics and then once again I "stitched" the edges with the Sakura souffle Pen. I have been doing that a lot.. guess it is my thing at the moment. I love the saying that is available with the Friendly Kritter stamp "Serve One Another in Love Galatians 5:13" How cute is it all!

I can't wait to show you the next project I have been working on.. it should be ready to post in the morning... I am calling it my Magnolia Savings pail. It is to sticking cute.

Happy Birthday Deana!

Just a shout out to my high school buddy Deana! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Man did we really graduate (beeping sound to cover the actual number) many years ago? If I had all those quarters we put into Tetris at the bowling alley (oops gave the date away here! LOL) I would take you on a birthday shopping spree! But as we blew it then, I hope this card is ok instead! Have a great day girlfriend! And tell the kids to take you to play Tetris on me...

I stamped all of the images out. Then I colored them all in with my Copic Markers. Cut each one out. I then cut a background paper of clouds from Cosmo Cricket (love that paper!) Stamped it with my Cornish Heritage Farms Chickenwire stamp. Then I placed each object "into" the chicken pen. I pop dotted the feed to have it spilling out on the walkway. I highlighted the light on the coop and the hay with my Twinkling H2O's, and the wording "Getting older is for the Birds!" with my Uniball gel pen. I wish the photo came out better, as you can't really see the twinkling and the wording is hard to read here. I think it is cuter in person.
