Things are Distressing at Just Magnolias!

We are distressing our cards this week at Just Magnolias for a monthly technique challenge and it is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp! Heidi from Simon Says Stamp has very generously agreed to sponsor this monthly challenge and the prize is ......... a $50 gift certificate! Woo Hoo make the prize what you want!!

Now yesterday Chris's distressing technique tutorial was posted on the challenge blog for those that need a little help in roughing up their cards - It sounds funny, but really it is kind of hard to make our pretty cards all ragged and inked on the edges - but comes out a pretty vintage look!

I went a bit nuts on mine... I am blaming the cold medicine - head was a bit loopy and I just didn't know when to stop! LOL
Tilda is colored with my Copics, then cut with an oval Nestie - Core'dinations Vintage paper is used for the base, that I sanded and inked. The pattern papers are from DCWV Farmers Market papers. Now these are really heavy papers, more so than normal DCWV cuz they are recycled paper.. and it really does give a nice vintage look when sanded and roughed up on the edges.

The lace band across the middle is a piece of the same collections pattern paper, with two Martha Stewart Eyelet lace border punched edges. Love that punch! So glad it jumped into my cart totally by accident.. LOL I kept saying I wasn't getting anything now... but that punch set just had to come with me!

Everything was inked heavily.. maybe to heavily! But it does have a old distressed look! OH and do like my "ribbon" and bow? It is amazing the stuff I am finding in my boxes of stuff! Now that I am really taking apart all my stash and reorganizing I am finding some really cool things that I have bought over the years - this is raffia - and I think it made a really cool bow especially for this card!

Better get a move on.. Hubby made me late today, as he wanted to get the Donkeys some bales out before he left for work, so by 6:30 I was out holding gates and running off Donkeys while he took them into the pens, it really is a major production to get them into some of the pens. Raffie's pen for example - you have to really watch them as they one try to run out of the gate, and two Raffie and a few of his crew love wheels.. yep - tires! They will actually chase the truck, tractor or trailer trying to bite and "get the wheels" Funny... but very dangerous! So it takes two of us to get them away and get the hay in place and out again. I actually have teeth marks in my bumper of my truck where Raffie took a hold of it and bit down cuz we kept running him off from the tires. LOL Any way - lots to do today and I want to get it all done so I can "play" in my new craft room this weekend!! Move it time!!! YEA!!!! I hope to get it all set up in the next week and then I can show photos... if no one else gets sick or Hubby don't slack off the next couple of nights! HA! With me to nag him I doubt it!

Don't forget the Just Magnolia Distressing Challenge! You just have to pop over and see the other DT's cards - they did a great job on theirs!

HUGS and
