Things are Hopping at Just Magnolias One Year Celebration!

Can you believe that Just Magnolias is one year old? Time flies when you are having fun doesn't it!

So to help celebrate we are having a hop of sorts - So please at the end of my post visit the next DT member on the hop and see their work, once following the hop around you will find a wonderful prize at the end!!

Our cards and projects this week are all Thank You's - thank you to all of our visitors, followers, and those that join in on our challenges each week. And also a thank you for all of our sponsers, this week as many of our weeks :0) it is Simon Says Stamps!!! We love the gals at Simon Says, Heidi and her group of little angels are wonderful aren't they?   So a huge shout out thank you to them as well!

Want to see my thank you now?

I had some fun with roses huh? LOL I love these papers from Tilda - (I don't think there is a connection, just the same name as our favorite little no mouthed angel girl) I can't get them here in the US, but a very sweet friend in Europe sent me some, and I just adore them. And I only use them for very special projects :0)   I had to use Tilda with the single rose for this one. I colored her with my Copics - cut out with oval Nesties, matted with pink card stock and then sewed down with a blanket stitch. I left the rose up and out of the nestie - to make it pop a bit more.  My sentiment is from Stampavie Rachelle Anne Miller, and cut out with a Nestie label die, with a few more bling and mulberry roses on each side.

You can also see that I used my Large Martha Stewart punch for the lace border across the middle. And used some bling for the centers of all the lace flower centers.

Now what do you think of my "luggage"? LOVE it, ok so it is small, I thought it would be larger, but these sizzix dies are so cute I am still happy with it. I have "packed" it with lots of kisses - the really wonderful kind.. chocolate kisses!

Now it is time for you make the jump to the next DT member in our HOP ... so HOP on over to DAWNY P and see her wonderful Thank you!!! and then follow the road to the prize :0)

Have a wonderful Friday!!! See you tomorrow for Animal Crackers!

Tissue Anyone?

Something very different again - I found a wood tissue box cover at Hobby Lobby the other day. And thought it would make a great Mother's Day Gift for my MIL... she always wants her boxes to match her room... and we go from store to store and look for the right color boxes. So I thought, this would make sure that any box she buys will match her room!  Her room is a antique looking wall paper with dark red roses, and then sage green trim and curtains -

So this was a plain wood box. (should have taken a before photo huh?) I painted it with Making Memories sage green colored paint and let it dry. Then I sanded all the edges to give it a worn antique look. Now this wood is really white new looking, so I took a Ranger Distress Ink and a sponge and rubbed the entire box... really warmed it all up and gave it a great color. I colored three Sarah Kay images with my Copics, then tore them out and inked the edges of them.
I then went through my stash of Rub-on transfers. I have a bunch of these from Fancy Pants and My Minds Eye that I have had for YEARS... I picked out a handful of them and well... rubbed them on the box. :0)  I also had just got some of the new K&Co. Tim Coffie Die Cuts - really gorgeous butterflies, bees and flowers in this package. I picked a few of them and a few border strips from the same collection and placed them on the box. I glued all the die cuts and the images down with Modge Podge.

I then gave the whole box a layer of the Modge Podge  - twice.  I was really happy with how it came out.

The ends I kept simple with just three butterflies on each end. See that bar on the bottom? That slides out to remove the bottom so you can put the box inside.

I had planned to give this to her for Mother's Day - but I went ahead and gave it to her :0)

The antique look turned out perfect, I didn't want it to look "new" - I think I may have to go and purchase another blank box and make one of these for me in blue to match my craft room!

Have a great day!

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Wags and Whiskers Day!

Oops... had this to schedule, just checked and it didn't, sorry :0)

This week you will see that all the fabulous Spoon Full Team have used the new Wags 'n Whiskers Let's Play release! And that gives you hint of what the great prize is :0)

For my card I had fun and got to cheer for the new release!

For my card I went with purple and green - love these two, I went through my scraps and pulled everything that had those colors and found these from DCWV. I followed the sketch at Spoon and also used a Martha Stewart border punch and ribbon for the band across the middle. Everything is sewed down with random straight stitches.

My image is colored with Copics, I stamped her twice, and cut the pom poms out, pop dotted them and then stickled them for some glitter bling!

Now hurry on over and see all the Spoon Full of Sugar DT's cards with the new releases from Wags and Whiskers!

Colored with my Copics, then matted and sewed with a blanket stitch around the edge.
A few basics about my card – I used all bright fun scraps and then a piece of Core’dinations orange card stock ran thru with an embossing folder and sanded. Sewed down with some fun stitches. The sentiment is also from Stampavie -

So have you picked up either of the Sarah Kay boys yet? They are just adorable! And a must for any Sarah Kay collection :0)

Animal Crackers - different lenses

Happy Animal Crackers Saturday! Got some cute shots this week... spent a lot of time playing with different settings and different lenses on my camera yesterday.

First up is Black Jack. One of our "Studs".... he has been in a smaller pen alone the past couple of months. He beat up on Sergio pretty bad, he has never hurt one of the babies, ever... but I guess because Sergio was an orphan and did not have a Mom to remind Black Jack when to stop "playing" with the babies... well I am just glad we found them when we did, or Sergio may not have just got a couple of bruises. So we moved Black Jack to a pen on his own. This week we let him back into the larger pen. I wanted to wait until I knew Alonso could out run Black Jack... but if we want babies next year - he has to have some time with all of the girls :0) And he has been keeping his distance from the the three babies in that pen... their Moms have made sure of that!

Bucket for two?  Love this shot...  These to guys are great buddies - two of our Standards - Took this with an older lens I haven't used in forever - my Zoom AF 28-105 - Really a sharp shot.

hmmmm... what can I say? The leaves must have been worth the reach? And imagine... her milk bag is 1/2 the size it started. Used the same Zoom lens, I normally only have my one larger zoom lens on so I can get farther away photos.. but I really like how crisp the smaller lens gets.

I ADORE this photo of Lucy!!! I was messing around with my Micro Lens and different settings.... she is such a beautiful girl - I have never used my Micro lens to get animal shots... I really like it!

here is another I just fell in love with... You have to know they running a hundred miles per hour here.... I had just let them out the back door - Autie loves to stay right with Libbie until he sees something that catches his attention. Too cute huh?
He is really getting into that "teenager" stage... long legs... lanky looking :0) But still adorable!

And Libbie... she knows she is gorgeous, she knows she is "Top Dog", she knows she runs the show over everything in life..... LOL I like this photos cuz you really can't tell how big she is. She could be a Full size giant Australian Shepherd - but no she is only 10 inches tall.. (shhh just don't tell her that ok? )

Hope you liked Animal Crackers this Saturday. Beautiful weather here the past few days, hope it is the same where you are!!

PUNCHED into Just Magnolias?

Just Magnolias Friday! And today is a PUNCH! Yes... the challenge is to use a punch on your card... border punch, flower punch what ever just use a punch on your card or project. Pretty easy there huh?

Well I knew I wanted to start off with a new Magnolia Stamp I had gotten... the new Spring Open Gate. Love all the flowers on the gate, I then and perfect for one of my older Tilda's with the basket of flower don't you think? I stamped her first, then masked her and stamped the gate over her to create a scene. They are colored with my Copics, and high lighted with a white gel pen.
Then my card - a white card stock is used for the base, then the papers are gorgeous sparkle bling papers from My Minds Eye Home Stack. Every page in the huge stack has glitter on it. Love it! I sewed down the floral peach pattern, then used the dotted paper as a mat for my image, then behind that a white card stock  PUNCHED with the Martha Stewart Lattice Border and Corner Punch. Love this set! For more punches, I used the Large and Medium EK Success Retro Flower punches, and the Martha Stewart leaf punch... Now those flowers... white card stock - I know you are saying.. "huh"  White card stock that I used my air brush and Copics and sprayed them to match the flowers in the image!! Love how they came out! Need to do more of this... just forget sometimes that I can do it. LOL I dotted the centers of the flowers with Copic Opaque White. New stuff for me, need to learn ways of using it, more than dots anyway. My sentiment is from Stampavie.

Hope you like my PUNCHED card, and now POP on over to Just Magnolias and see all the GORGEOUS DT cards... and what this weeks prize is.. its a good one.. wink wink!

Have a Wonderful Friday and HUGS!

He still brings me flowers :0)

I have one of the best Hubbies there is... he is very supportive and doesn't freak out to bad when I get too involved in stamps.. instead of cleaning :0) -   He isn't one of those men that bring me flowers for every anniversary or event. In fact he really doesn't bring me flowers that often. I mean common we own a plant nursery... so cut flowers that will die... well Hubbies idea of romance is the tree that he planted for us a couple of weeks ago... something forever - and you know I am really the same... flowers are beautiful and I do love them, but hey lets plant a tree or a rose bush instead.... or a gift certificate to Micheal's is great too... LOL   But the other day he brought me flowers. He had been visiting one of our old farmer friends. Love this old man, he is so sweet - he has a field of these gorgeous Poppies. They are new this year he has never had them before, and he insisted that Hubby brought home some. And now we are going to collect some seeds from our friend and try and grow some of these ourselves! I have never seen poppies like this, don't even know what variety they are. But I think they are just amazingly gorgeous! I wish I could have captured the color better.. they are vibrant and stunning.
Should have taken the photo yesterday.. oops... the petals are dropping already. And this is why we plant the living, it makes me so sad to see them drop their petals.  And don't you love Hubbies fancy vase? Gotta use what you have in the back seat of the truck... LOL

Ok now a card - and this one was another one of those VERY different cards for me. I saw this stamp by Impression Obsessions Inc. at Simon Says Stamp and I just loved it. I love old watering cans, use to have a whole bunch of them years ago... anyway this stamp just called out to me, and I had to have it. I use to use stamps like this all the time, and haven't in a very long time. As soon as the package arrived I was wanting to color this one.
But this is different one from what you normally see from me huh? Showed it to Hubby and he looked at it and quote said "Yea it's nice, not you, and there is no bling..." and handed it back to me. Hubby like the bling on my cards.. LOL   I colored the image with my Copics, then used pattern papers from K & Co. Punched the brown pattern paper with Martha Stewart Doily lace border punch, then sewed everything down - 6 pearls for embellishments... I also added something else very different with this card. I pulled out an old bottle of Papier Glass Finish in a Sepia color. You know how I know this is a very old bottle? The price tag is $1.99 LOL.   I very carefully layered the finish over the image and let it dry. Gave a really cool look, almost like the image has a piece of old glass over it. OH with those old glass bubbles :0)

Hope you like my vintage looking card. It was fun to step out of my normal again. You will probably be seeing more of me trying new things - I do this about once a year where I just have to pull out old products and try different looks...

Have a great Thursday - HUGS and
