Sarah Kay Girlie Happy Birthday

Howdy -

Had some fun digging into my older Sarah Kay images again this week. I adore them... I used one to create a Girlie Birthday Card  - You see my "OLDEST" BFF is having a birthday today. She just loves when I refer to her that way.. don't ya Deana?  We were partners in crime in high school. Oh not that we EVER did anything bad... never! This girl and I have had some laughs in the past. Some of those laughs were at my expense at times, a lot of the time, she seems to remember me being accident prone. I have NO idea why she thinks that.  Deana helped teach me to drive and for some reason she still finds that humorous. Why I was ok with her teaching me when I had experienced her launching driving I will never know. But I can say I learned to drive and wasn't a timid newbie driver! We also were master Tetris gamers! At least we thought we were... sure put enough quarters in that year. Wow that dated us didn't it?

So back to the card - Deana has all "men" in her house! So I decided she needed a real Girlie card this year.

I think the Sarah Kay.. the lace punch, chipboard corner flourishes, pearls and birdie have some girlie feel don't you? I sewed all the layers down. Most of the papers are Websters I believe. I hate that once out of those clear envelopes I loose what collection they are... sorry.  The Happy Birthday is a Stampin Up stamp - love to color in the roses on this one. I colored with my Copics (colors below)

The inside is the same papers matched up - with an Alota Rubber stamps Happy Birthday stamp.

Hubby's Valentine/Birthday/Anniversary Card

Howdy -

Thought I would share the card I made for Hubby's Valentine/Birthday/Anniversary... well the front of the card - inside was sappy... :0)

I pulled out an old favorite that I haven't used in years! A Sarah Kay image...

Still have that soft spot for Sarah Kay images - Colored with Copics - (colors below) - Found some papers from Bo Bunny's Serenade Collection. I matted everything in black - dramatic don't you think? I punched out a Martha Stewart Fence border punch as a border. All the layers are sewn down. I found the sentiment in some older Stampin Up stamps. Then I used red glitter stickles to create hearts on the sentiment and border.

Hope you all had a lovely Valentines Weekend - we had a show on "the day" but did get a quick dinner on the way home. Then we pretended that yesterday was Hubby's birthday and I made a cake for him and a real old fashioned home cooked dinner. Shocker huh? I do cook... despite what some family and friends think... LOL

Sarah Kay - Suzi Ponders

A quick card today - another Thank you card I made for my Mom to use. Stampavie's Sarah Kay image Suzi Ponders -

 This card was a pretty quick card, and I love that I used up more of my scraps on this one. Not that Webster's Pages is ever "scraps", I kept things pretty flat and simple so it is easy to mail. My sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and die cut with one of their dies. Three buttons on the corner, with three adhesive pearls - they don't even really look like buttons now do they?

Suzi Ponders is really a sweet image. As are all of Sarah kay images. I used Promarkers to color.

I also did the inside of the card, but forgot to get a photo... sorry.

Sorry I missed a few days this week. Today I go to the Doctors office. My finger is not healing well. It looked good and I thought it was all over, but the last couple of weeks it has started hurting again, and has this odd knot and is unbelievably sensitive. So off the Doctors... hope it isn't anything bad. Maybe I do really need to live in a bubble. That is what most around here are saying- LOL

StampARTic Challenge - Bingo with a Sarah Kay

Hello - Hope you all had a blessed and wonderful Easter weekend. Hubby and I took a day of peace. Just us, and well... lots of animals. :0) It was a nice semi-quiet day with no stress or pressure. We both needed it desperately.

I wanted to get this post in tonight as I did a card for the StampARTic Challenge and found that it ends tonight  - so here is my card.. as I did enjoy the challenge.

 Went back to one of my favorite Sarah Kay images for this one. Spring is Back. Totally love this image, the hair, the hat, the cute little ruffled top and all those flowers. I colored with my Copics, then die cut in a Nestie thin oval. The pattern paper is from a new paper pad I just got from Hobby Lobby... went in with a friend, didn't need a thing, and came out with paper... LOL But the colors and patterns in the Prima Madeline collection was more than I could handle. I caved and had to have it. I used scraps for matting around the paper,

The challenge at StampARTic is a bingo challenge.. I chose Flowers Stamp Ribbon... So the Stamp is done, my flowers are from the floral department... love these felt flowers on a wire stem! Don't know what made me circle around the oval, but I like it. I then added a bow and band of white seam binding ribbon.

Then I did the inside -

Same pattern paper collection, with more scraps of card stock. The sentiment is from the new Stampavie Tina Wenke Happy Birthday collection.


I loved putting this card together, I think it was the colors - these papers just make me happy.

Still some time today... I think I am going back to my craft desk ;0)

More kids and a card!

Wow what a week.. my emotions are on a roller coaster ride this week! Up and Down with the Stress. But all is good. Yesterday we had Libbie fixed - the best for her I know that, but still was hard, she is such a good Momma and has beautiful babies. But best for her. So it is all good now. We have had more goats babies too! Surprise huh? LOL Paintbrush gave us quite a scare and she and her babies have been on my watch list the last  couple of days to make sure they are all healthy. So far everyone is doing ok.

They are a good looking family here aren't they?

Again... HUGE size difference in two of the babies. REALLY strange. Bluto is HUGE and Olive Oyl is tiny.

But how about a card? Yes I have actually crafted a bit - a tiny little bit.

I made another 5x7 card - still odd feeling, but getting a little more use to it. LOL

 I went with a little different color combo this time. Drew from the pattern paper from Websters Pages. The purple and black with cream really does work well together huh? And I love double sided pattern papers, so easy to just flip and use both sides! No thinking. I sewed strips on the top and bottom, then backed the oval image - Some pretty cream and purple mulberry flowers, with Martha Stewart punched leaves and branches. Three small pearls for the corner. The band is two punches of a Papertrey Ink die.  My sentiment "Hello Friend" is also from Papertrey Ink.

Stampavie Sarah Kay - "Spool" Photo Holder

The other day was my turn on the Stampavie Blog again - I had so many things already scheduled, and all those babies to show off :0) So here is my project! It was so much fun....

I am so excited to show you what I made this week. Isn't funny how exciting it is when something is in your head and it works in reality! It doesn't happen often for me, so when it does work.. I get the giggles!

This is my Sarah Kay "Spool" Photo Holder. And I just love how Laura and Henri fit so perfectly on it.

I adore antiques, and love the vintage wooden spools. But I didn't have one to make my photo holder, so I made one ! Can you guess what I used? I am sure you can... This is a Toilet paper roll and two coasters! Covered in pretty Graphic 45 papers, inked and glued together. Tim Holtz lace borders, and lots of mulberry roses. My photo holder? That is a piece of copper wire rolled and then glued into the center of the roll. Was so simple!

I hope you enjoyed my project, oh... and the photo that is in my holder? That is my grandfather as a very young boy with his siblings. Such a great family photo.

Where have I been? How about some Candy?

Where have I been? Man, I can't believe Saturday was the last day I posted! I have no excuse really - I took Sunday completely off. Didn't even turn on my computer. Spent the day with Hubby helping him bring in loads of hay. I say helping very loosely :0) I still only have one hand to work with. My rope burned hand is getting much better but I still can't use it as much as I would like. So I spent the day riding around with Hubby and holding gates for him. Monday and Tuesday - I have no clue where those days went. LOL

So to make it up to you I thought I might offer up some candy. Bribe yes... but a really great one!

After the close of CHA- the very generous Heidi  from Stampavie gave me a few of the brand new Stampavie images to bring home and share with you for some blog candy.

Good thing I have a few Made up Projects -

HI - the Rodeo on Monday was really fun. Totally loved watching the sheep dog trials! And we enjoyed a really nice day together, Hubby and I.  Well until late in the day.... well accident prone Michelle entered ! But honestly this wasn't my fault - Really it wasn't! Working with the horses - I was holding a rope for Hubby and in a totally flash - my hand was pinned to the fence post and the rope was spiraling out of my hand and well... OUCH! I have rope burns on all four fingers on the inside of my right hand. Bad Rope Burns. I am actually doing pretty good considering I am not a Lefty and can't figure out how to do anything without my right hand. How do you lefty's do it? :0)

So no coloring for a little while, in fact I tried to use my scissors today and couldn't even open and close them once... so I moved them to my left hand and well cut right into the middle of what I cutting, so I think scissors will have to wait a little while as well. Sigh... Good thing I have a few made up Projects left from CHA!

Here is one of the new Stampavie Sarah Kay images  - "Bath Time"

I went vintage with this one. Colored the image with my Promarkers, then tore her out and inked the edges. I used scrap pattern papers one that looks like cardboard, and one with script pattern. Sorry lost the names. I backed it with brown card stock that I punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. Now do you recognize that chandelier? YEP another Stampavie image. From Penny Johnson - Now this was totally cool - I took a piece of the brown card stock, and I stamped with bleach! Yes plain ole bleach! Now I made sure to wash my stamp well after using the stamp. But the effects were totally cool - will be doing this again for sure. I stamped the brand new Tina Wenke Dream stamp with bleach as well on a scrap of blue paper.

Some sewing, pearls and dotted swiss ribbon and I like how this card came out! And I love that it was already done to show you!

No worries... I'll be ok, and my private nurse "Hubby" has been taking pretty good care of me... following me around asking if I have soaked my hand and checking my boo boo's every time he can. I feel so bad that I can't clean the house and do my chores around the house... really I do. LOL

New Sarah Kay - Another Scrapbook page - Tea Please

Hello- today I wanted to show you another scrapbook page I made for CHA - this page is showing off a New Stampavie Sarah Kay image, "Tea Please" As soon as I saw this image my brain was going nuts thinking of my little niece a few years back in her absolutely adorable dance costume! They were meant to use together.. seriously... LOOK

 This page was so much fun to put together! It felt like it just went together all on its own. The image is totally wonderful I love it, but with my nieces photo I really love it!

I used Black cardstock, Pink cardstock, A piece of Tim Holtz Core'dinations embossed card stock that I sanded. The lace is a piece of vintage lace that I adore - It is pretty large for using on cards, but perfect for scrapbook pages, don't you think? Then a large black rhinestone flourish. The title is one of my very old Thickers - black glittered of course.

Here is a close up of the Sarah Kay image, you know you are going to have to have this Sarah Kay aren't you?

She is colored with my Promarkers. Cut out and then inked around the edges.

New Sarah Kay - CHA release - I Little Bit of Country

Hi - ok so I have intermittent Internet. I am keeping my appointment with the repair people, if I let it go it could take a while to get another appointment. So for now I work for a while and then nothing. I thought I would take advantage of the working this morning to show you one of the cards I made for the Stampavie booth... I think this could be my favorite image from the Sarah Kay release. But seriously.... there are 20... YES TWENTY really fabulous images in the Sarah Kay release! And I know I say it each time, but I think this is my absolute favorite release. You can see all the new releases HERE. Warning... in my best "Jaws" imitation voice... You are gonna need a bigger wallet... LOL

So back to my card - "A Little Bit of Country" -

See I told you... I love this image don't you. So me.... LOL  For my card I used scraps papers, all sewed together. Then I found some Paper tape ribbon that I added a piece of vintage lace. Found a wooden embellishment that had that country feel. Especially after I inked it up.

The sentiment is from another new release from CHA - Tina Wenke's new sentiments!! 5 new sentiment sets that are just perfect for lots of occasions. OH and I colored the image with my Promarkers. Happy Happy Happy! Loving this one.

All right gotta get things going and start to find my routine again. Laundry going, and I need to unpack the rest of my "goodies" from CHA and put away the luggage for another year. And I missed a ton on the internet, so if things will stay working I want to do some hopping around and see everything I missed. Have a great Monday and I'll be back tomorrow with more of CHA!

Stampavie Sarah Kay House

 Hello today it is my turn to post over at the Stampavie Design Team Blog :0) And this also fits under my normal Dust it Off Sunday post as you see.. The house has been on my shelf for over two years. I purchased it at a yard sale for 50 cents. The papers are dug from my stash, and I used all older Stampavie Sarah Kay stamps. So I used up lots of different things from my collection of "things" - So now to my post -

Today I want to show you my little house :0) I cannot even tell you how much fun I had making this project! Like a little girl playing paper dolls! Now this started as one of those chipboard houses you can purchase at any craft store.

  The roof comes off. I found papers in my stash that had the vintage country feel I was going for, and then covered the sides of the house, then went on to the the million punched hearts for the roof. Yes, the “tiles” on the roof are punched hearts! I inked the edges of each one, then turned them upside down and glued them on every inch of the roof. Ok.. so it wasn’t a million of them, but it was a lot! I covered the chimney with a piece of coredinations card stock embossed. I used vintage lace on the edges of the roof, and then around the middle of the house. I love how the dangling pearls look sort of like Christmas lights! Then I colored Noel Charity and cut her out for the front door of my house.

Then I went to look for something for the sides.

Sabine watching the snow to fall was perfect… well almost perfect, it was too tall even after I shrunk it with my printer a tad… so I only used 1/2 of the window. PERFECT!

Then for the other side.

Chloé watching the trees in the autumn wind seemed to fit the fall winter feel of my house. But again too big, so I shrunk her as well and then cut her out. Then Hubby had the brilliant idea of shrubs! I was trying to figure out how to make them, and he looked at me and said why don’t you just use model train shrubs. Uh I don’t know… hmmm…. and well I got these shrubs for like $2.00. And I went into a section of the craft store I had never been! LOL

Again I totally had fun with this project! I think this would be great to put a gift into, then they can display the “box”!

Family - My Aunt's 80th Birthday

Yesterday we went to a celebration. A fabulous celebration, My Aunt's 80th Birthday. It was a wonderful time seeing family and meeting family we haven't seen in FAR too long, in the large church we all attended as a family when I was very young. My Aunt still attends there. And my Aunt - she is an inspiration, just as beautiful as always. When I was little I use to think she was perfect, she was and is always dressed beautifully, never a hair out of place, gorgeous  - and a voice of an angel. I don't remember a lot about attending the "big fancy church" when I was little... sleeping on the pews between my Mom and Dad, how large the place was.. and blue... everything was blue.... and I remember my Aunt's singing. I was a good kid in church most of the time, but when my Aunt sang with the choir .... I would sit motionless. It was fabulous yesterday as we were all standing around talking and remember... My Aunt and her friends gathered at the piano and started to sing. Same  angelic voice, gorgeous. And just fabulous to hear them all in harmony.  As I got a little older maybe 5 or 6... my family started going to a closer church.. a much smaller church - no blue there. It was all orange and brown. Funny the things we remember as little kids huh?

As Hubby and I set off for the celebration yesterday, we were as always flying out the door trying to gather things and make it on time. Half way there... I realized I forgot to take a photo of the card!! I spent two nights on it, and wanted to share it with you!!  Well Hubby and my Mom took it in their hands and towards the end of the party, they tracked down the card, and my Aunt so I could get a photo of her opening it. Now that is something that we don't see much - and that is why we make all these cards right? To see happiness they bring? Here is my Aunt just after she opened her card -

 Now my close up of my card... well It isn't my usual with my fancy camera, lights and white back ground. This ...I think came out pretty darn good considering I took it on a party table with my phone! :0)

Just a few details... One of my all time favorite Sarah Kay images from Stampavie "Noel Joy" - she doesn't have to be used just for Christmas you know - Webster Pages papers I think... sorry can't remember for sure - The mat is a Heritage Creations Die - The pink lace die is from My Favorite Things, Prima Marketing Flowers and of course I sewed things together.

I did the inside too :0) The sentiments are from Papertrey Ink - Inside and Out Birthday set.

It really was wonderful to see so many from the family. We promised to not let it be so long until we all get together again. We had talked about a family gathering here and so they could meet our furry children (can't take them to a church gathering you know.. LOL ) Anyway were were going to get together last fall... some ding dong poked her eye out and really wasn't up to it then. But She is now! So we are going to try and have a family Texas BBQ here in the coming year - have everyone out. Things like that are tough to plan here in Texas - have to make sure it isn't too hot... cooler weather, but then not cold and wet either. Tough... especially since we would have to have most of it outside... my house... not big enough for my entire family to visit at once ! LOL Heck it fills up just when my immediate family of my Mom and Sister come with all their family... small house... larger Craft room - Priorities you know... What do I need a large Living Room For? Craft Space... that is where my time is spent.

OK... I am running SOOO late now for our locals breakfast gathering. Any minute now Hubby is going to come in and give me that look - you know the one "You aren't ready yet???" Nope still sitting here in my Eeyore PJs... better run! Have a beautiful Sunday!

Dust It Off Sunday - Sarah Kay Adele - Feeling Fall Yet?

Dust it off time -And today I dusted off a card I made a while back. I did this one for a Card Magazine call... darn it, it wasn't picked. 99% aren't you know. But gotta keep trying.

This one so reminds me of fall... Just wish it was cooling off here and feeling like fall. I guess it is a tiny tiny bit.. down from 110 to 99... but oh so looking forward to that crisp, cooler first of school feel...

 Now you can see this is an easel card... with LOTS of color :0)

 The papers used are Graphic 45 - Playtime Past - I totallly adore Graphic 45 papers. Just so yummy. The stamp is Stampavie Sarah Kay "Adele Enjoying Fresh Apples" Seriously this is one of my all time favorite Fall images. When I was working with this one I remembered somewhere a roll of ribbon that I had purchased. I was so so so perfect, but finding it was a nightmare! Finally I did... 

You can see it matches perfectly the paper and the image! 

JoAnn's Debbie Mum Apples Ribbon - just in case you need to know it. Have you seen her ribbons? They are just gorgeous!!

Sarah Kay - Letraset Safmat Lamp!

Dust it off Sunday - well... I am just too excited and have to show off something that was on the Stampavie and Letraset Blog this weekend... so Dust it Off - is postponed today :0)

While shopping the other day I had a light bulb go off in my head. Literally... a light!  I found these simple pretty glass lamps at IKEA - and for some reason I saw Sarah Kay Images all around the shade. I got so excited, because I knew with the Letraset SafMat product I could easily make that happen!

So how did I make my lamp - Well first I colored up 5 Sarah Kay images with ProMarkers -

Colors Used : Oatmeal, Ivory, Blush, Sandstone, Carmel, Apricot, Blossom, Dusty Rose, Antique Pink, Pink Carnation, Blue Bell, Lavender, Buttercup, Meadow Green, Marsh Green,  Denim Blue, Powder Blue, Tan, Burnt Sienna, Poppy,  Ice Grey 1, Ice Grey 5, Pastel Beige, and Blender Pen

I then measured my lamp shade. To determine the height I want to print my images on the SafMat -

Then  Scan or Photo your  images, and then print them to the size needed to fit the lamp shade.

Then it is just a matter of spacing the images around the shade and sticking them in place.

To cover the seams - I used a wide dotted satin ribbon. This is for decoration embellishment as well as to cover the edges of all the SafeMat printed images. I used a clear craft glue to stick the ribbon.

My Lamp is a clear glass - open on the bottom. I filled the glass with Mulberry Roses and Flowers, then used a piece of scrap card stock cut in the same size circle opening and attached it to cover the hole. You could also fill it with buttons, shells, whatever your mind can come up with!

I am pretty happy how this came out - I could see this in a little girls room, nursery or such. But for now I am happy with it sitting in my craft room   - I have to say I have been looking at all kinds of lamps now! I have a totally different one in the works  right now! What a great personalized gift item! A child's desk lamp with their favorite character and their own name maybe - oh the ideas are endless!
