School is Cool!!

Those that have been reading my blog for a while may remember a while back I did a card with the Alota School House and the Magnolia School Tilda... you can see it HERE. Helene at Alota Rubber Stamps emailed me and said she loved it... but she had some new School Girls that she would love to see on the card. I got them a couple of weeks ago and finally mounted them on foam and got to work and made her a card with all ALOTA STAMPS! Love it. How perfect would this set be for making end of the year cards for your kids teachers? How cute to make a pencil cup with all four girls around it... ohhh or a clipboard or note book? I can see some really cute gifts with these. Shame the Donkeys don't have teachers... maybe my Sister can make some for her kids teachers. I think they would be really adorable!
I wanted to stay with similar colors as my last card, especially since Helene liked it. ;0)
So I started with a dark red card stock, and a dark yellow for the mats. The pattern paper is from Daisy D's. I stamped out the school and two of the girls from the collection, coloring them all with Copics. I squared off the school and inked the edges with dark red ink. The girls were cut out with my Fiskars fingertip craft knife. I then stamped out the "School is Cool" from the set and colored in the hearts, inked the edge and matted it. I found a piece of dark red twill ribbon in my stash... love it, from JoAnn's it already had the adhesive on it. I wanted the girls to look like they were standing way out in front of the school, but as I only had 6x6 inches... LOL... I just pop dotted them to the sides. Then I gel pen stitched all the way around the card. This is a really fun set, and goes so well with the School/Church! Hope Helene likes this one too!
I think it is cute... but for some reason I want to pull out my old Little House on the Prairie Books.. or find a rerun on TV... hmmmmm
So did you have a good weekend? Was it just me or did it fly by? Seriously quick. But here we are on Monday again, new week, new goals to get done. Better get to it, blog surfing, and then start the day! Hope you have some time to play and get inky!

I loved those books when I was growing up - I wonder what happened to them. Little House in the Big Woods was the first one I read - I think I will try and get them all again. Anyway, you made a gorgeous card with that school house and the cute little girls and I love the warm colours. I love anything warm at the moment! hugs, annie x

what a cute set Michelle - it is very little house on the prairie - used to love that show! I thought the whole of last week flew by, not just the weekend! I'm hoping it'll slow down a bit this week as I've got lots to play with! Have a good week. xx
