A Vintage Whiff of Joy

This card ended up looking very old fashioned. I don't think I was going that way when I started. LOL but I do like it. The challenge this week at Whiff of Joy Challenge Blog is to make a Christmas card for Boys with do blue. I colored Oakley with Scooter with my Distressing Inks and white gel pen. Inked the edge with dark brown matted with the pattern paper and sewed down with a dark green.

The pattern papers are a new collection I just got from K&Company called Christmas Cheer. Love the colors. I decided to use the paper with the large holly, the edges were sewed with a blanket stitch to the same pattern paper as the image mat, but it seemed sad to cover too much of the holly, so I cut out a few of the leaves and slid the matted image underneath. The Sentiment is also from Whiff of Joy and was the perfect size to stamp directly onto the corner of the card.

The only thing that bothered me is that I felt the Holly needed some glitz... it was so flat. So I simply took my Spica clear glitter pen and colored in all of the berries and high-lighted the leaves. That helped, and made me feel better especially since this card didn't seem to have a place for lots of embellishments.

Vintage huh? I like it... and for a boy or really anyone. Run over and see their DT cards they really do knock these images out of the part! Real home runs with every one!

A huge Thank you to all of those that have emailed me for my nephews address to send him a card!!! Really it is going to make him feel so special and give him something wonderful to look forward to. I actually think the entire family will be getting into it. I am sure his sisters will be involved and help him find all the places on the map.... (If you don't know what I am talking about please see yesterday's post for my special request)

Today is errand day, dinner last night was what I call bottom of the freezer. I have needed to do some grocery shopping for a while! So better get a move on. Hope you all have a great Thursday and find some time to get inky!

this is the vintage style that I like! but oh does it take me back to my childhood and the boxes that we used to keep the tree decorations in were decorated in just this style - it's brought a tear to my eye just thinking about it - but happy memories! enjoy your shopping day! hugs, annie x
