Last night about 7pm Lacey was showing all of the close signs, so we moved her into the baby pen in the barn and within about 5 minutes of moving her.... ROSITA was born! Hubby had to help with the birthing.. as little Rosita was trying to come out hooves first and her head was bent back, but with a little help she was delivered just fine. This one is gonna be very tiring for Momma Lacey... she was standing with in minutes. Trying to run with in the hour, and by the time we went to bed she was jumping and kicking. This morning she was all over the pen and is a jumper. Hubby knelt down to love on her, and she climbed in his lap and just about knocked him over. Now for those that have been following the donkey pregnancies, Lacey is the Momma. She is not one of those that I showed a couple of weeks ago. I really didn't think that she was going to be first. I just knew Macey would be first as she is just about as wide as the barn. But no, she is still waiting. We have moved Victoria "Vicky" into the barn. She looks as if she is getting closer too. Vicky and Lacey have been best friends since they were only months old. We purchased them together because they went nuts when you separated them. It makes me VERY happy to see that their first babies will also grow up together and be friends. I hope to get some cards made later today, unless Victoria has other plans! And that would be just fine with me! :) OH and BTW... The daddy is Raffie, the smiling donkey in my profile... he is a first time Daddy too! You can find him out there today passing out carrot cigars to everyone!
