Dust It Off Sunday - 9 - Penny Black - Hedgehog Christmas

For this weeks Dust If Off Sunday - I knew I had to go through my stamps and find a Christmas Stamp... I have quite a few older Christmas stamps and had a few to choose from, then saw the Penny Black Hedgehogs... I have two Christmas hedgehog stamps. The Light Brigade, and Coming Your Way. I couldn't decide which I wanted to use. So I stamped them both out and colored them both. I still couldn't decide, so I worked and worked trying to fit both of them on the front of a 6x6 card. Wasn't easy, and I really don't know if it did work... but well.. here it is - Too Much?
Kind of crowed huh? Oh well.. I so wanted to use them both. I also pulled out some old Christmas papers from DCWV. Sewed them together with a zig zag stitch. The sentiment is my favorite this year for Christmas  - I always have one that I use alot each season and this year it was this one from Stampabilities. This seemed a little like a present box, so a red satin ribbon at the top seemed appropriate. But it needed just a bit more... just no room. So I took my red Stickles and created three sets of three dots... don't know why.. but it works too.. LOL
Close up of the trio hauling all the presents -

And of the pair with the festive lights. You probably can't see it here but I used clear dimensional glaze on the bulbs to make them more glass like.

Well we are off this morning to deliver Reno.. then home for a crazy week trying to get all my last minute shopping and baking done for Christmas... I do have a few things planned for the week so please do pop in - :0) And I hope you enjoyed my Crowded Hedgehog Christmas Card.

Dust It Off Sunday - 5 - Penny Black - Best of Luck!

Hello and Happy Sunday - Dusting off another one of my wood mounted stamps this week. A Penny Black Stamp - The name on this stamp is "Best of Luck!" ... odd name, but I guess this chicken does need some luck to get all those candles out...
I have colored with my Copics - and then to make those flames even more eye catching I added Diamond Stickles to them.

For the card I made an easel card, with bright yellow card stock, and Basic Grey "Color Me Silly" pattern papers. Spellbinders Mega Rectangle Nesties to mat the image, and EK Success border punch. I did lots of sewing on this one too.. a great chance to use a new stitch for me on my sewing machine. Don't you think that this kind of looks like a chicken scratch pattern? LOL
I wanted to keep it kind of simple with the embellishments to show off the larger image and those bright papers. So I found some white buttons in my stash to simplify things.
And that sentiment from is also from Penny Black, and perfect for the image!

This was a lot of fun to Dust off.. and make a card with! So have you dusted off any of your older images lately? Let me know so I can come see what you have done!

Have a great Sunday - HUGS and

Penny Black, Sarah Kay and GATO!

First card today is a fun card for the Penny Black Challenge Blog. Theme this week is no pink, oh my no pink? ha! I used an image sent by a dear friend. How cute is any guy in boxers with hearts? I colored in this kitty with my Copics and doodled the edges with a Spica Glitter pen. Matted him with the pretty deep red. I used a scrap of red and blue pattern paper, sorry I don't know the maker. Matted it with the same red and sewed with red thread in a blanket stitch. Everything is placed on a white card stock. The sentiment is from Stampin Up. Fun and flirty don't you think?

My second card is for my Stampavie DT, I was showing a friend my Sarah Kay stamps... and SHOCK.... I had one that had not been inked yet! So that was the first thing I did when I sat down to craft last night. Margaux is painting is a cute little artist that I colored in with my Copics. I matted her with a chocolate brown card stock and sewed down with a gold satin thread. The two pattern papers by K&Co. have an old french look to them I think, I cut them and matted the floral paper with the same brown, and sewed down. The darker teal paper is sewed with the blanket stitch and placed on a kraft card stock base. I found a satin ribbon in the same color as the thread and tied it around the floral paper before attaching to the card. I was going to stamp the sentiment "Hugs" from Hero Arts, and when I pulled out the set I saw the "Merci!" and it was just to perfect, I cut it out with my Fiskars heart Squeeze Punch and colored the edge with a Copic Marker. Whew... feel so much better all my Sarahs have been inked!
To see all of the Sarah Kay stamps visit the Stampavie site HERE, including a peek at the new Christmas line! Oh and of course the fabulous Rachelle Anne Miller stamps! Oh and if you are in the US and have been wanting some Sarah Kay Stamps, my LSS just got a handful of them in... but hurry I think they are going to go really fast! You can contact Amy at amyhowell@thescrapbookcorral.com to get prices.

Ok.... just had to share a couple of photos I took of Gato this morning. This kitten just loves to climb in my photo tent when I have it out to take my card photographs. And sometimes I just have to snap a few photos she is just too cute and hey the lighting is perfect!! Now if only I could get the donkey babies in the photo tent to get some decent photographs of them!!

Hey there Partner!

Happy Birthday Partner! How fun is this card, I used my Alota Rubber Stamps Western set to create this fun little scene. I love this set, but I do tend to like the country western stamps, if only they would have some donkeys...... But seriously this set really has a lot of stamps, at a really great value- check it and the other sets available in the store.

This card is made with a kraft paper card base and scraps of pattern papers. I think they are Daisy D's. I colored in the cute images with my Copics, white gel pen, Spica Glitter pens and high lighted with twinkling H2O's. I distressed, inked and sewed around everything. I pop dotted the cute little dude to give the appearance that he is sitting out in front of the blacksmith shop.
I then sewed around the outer edge of the entire card randomly. I then pop dotted the sentiment as well. I love that this set comes with more than one sentiment, so you have lots of options for types of cards. Fun card, that I just realized qualifies for the Cute Card Challenge of cards for kids!

My second card is for the Penny Black Challenge blog. They gave a great sketch for this week, and this card came together really fast, I got this cute little cat a couple of weeks ago and just knew he would be perfect for a summer time smile card.

I colored him with Copics and white gel pen. I then found a yellow Bazzill card stock for the base and a scrap piece of orange to match the image.

The pattern papers are from DCWV Summer stack and match perrrrrrfect!

The round sentiment is from Aud Designs and is then cut with my Fiskar's Circle Squeeze Punch. I doodled the edges of everything. Love how summery and fun this one came out!

Hope you week starts out great and you have a wonderful Monday!

Sweet 'n Sassy and a little "hog"

Well it is Monday again, man the weeks are flying by! Today I have two challenge cards, the first I love, the second... ehhh I can't decide if I like or hate.

First - Friday Sketchers Blog - wow it is week 9 already! And this was a great sketch just as the 8 before, I changed the sizes just a bit from the sketch, but love how it came out. First I love this stamp!! How pretty is she, this is one of the new Sweet Ebony images, Sweet n' Sassy, I think she is my favorite so far, but then I pull out one of the others and think the same of them =) I colored her in with my Copic Markers, white gel pen, and Sakura Glaze Pens.
I then got a chance to play with something new, or new to me anyway! I ordered some of the new Coordination's card stock... ok, will be ordering more soon! I took the darkest purple and cut my sizes for the sketch (I was excited about the new card stock and got the sizes off just a bit compared to the sketch, but it works) Anyway I then ran them thru my Cuttlebug with embossing folder. Then I sanded the tops of all of the pieces. WOW the center lighter color pops! I love it! Can't wait to try some other things with this paper. I then matted all of the pieces on a yellow scrap and sewed everything down with orange thread with a blanket stitch. The image was matted with a scrap of the dark purple and sewed down. I then used pop dots on a dark orange card stock. I used a light purple base and inked the edges of it and the yellow to add to the shadow effects. I found a yellow with orange dots flower in my stash and a large yellow brad for a center. I really wanted some leaves......... so I just apart a large Prima flower and took two petals as a leaves for the dotted flower. I don't know if it the image, the new card stock, the colors or what but this one really made me happy.

Then to the one that just is missing something... I don't know what or if the colors just are not working for me or what. I did this one for this weeks Penny Black Challenge. This week they asked us to use Brads and/or Buttons. Well I had a new stamp squealing to be inked up, I love this "little" piggie, perfect for summer don't you think. I colored her up with my Copics and Sakura Glaze pens. I chose the colors after picking the K&Co. pattern paper, It might be hard to see, but it has tiny dark orange flowers in it. I cut the piggie with my Nestibilities, and then found a card stock that matches the flowers perfect and made the base and then cut the scallop mat for my bathing beauty. I stamped the sentiment (... snort snort... love it) on a scrap of the orange. I distressed everything with a paper edge blade thingy... what is it called? Anyway I distressed everything and then inked the edges. I then used a piece of blue felt border from Queen and Co. I place buttons on the corners to give the look of holding down the mat, I wanted at least one brad and found a decorative one in my stuff and put it on the corner of the piggie art. I stitched down with a glaze pen. Just seems off to me... what do you think?

Well Hubby has the day off, and get this ---- he is taking my MIL across town to a few shops, then Bass Pro Shop (you would think this was on his list but no it is on MIL's for some new shoes) Then we will have some late lunch on our way home. Now this may not be big to some of you, but anyone who knows my hubby... this is big. He hates shopping. We will see how it all works out!

Gotta run and get ready, have a great Monday! HUGS and-

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

Ok, I tried something a little different on today's card. I wanted to use one of my new Penny Black stamps, but couldn't find the perfect pattern paper to go with it, then remembered the quilt squares I purchase a while back. This one seemed just perfect. So no pattern paper, just pretty fabric! I sewed down the square onto a black piece of card stock, and the placed that onto the red card base. I then matted the image and the sentiment "What's Moo?", from Cornish Heritage Stamps, with the same red and black. I did a blanket stitch around each of them. Ok, the sentiment was tough! But I still have all my fingertips. After attaching them with glue dots, had to make sure something would stick good to the fabric. I found three velour flowers to place on the bottom left corner. (Oh and I forgot to mention the image is colored in with my Copics - but you probably already knew that)

I spent so much time playing with this card, I didn't get to the card I had planned for Cute Card Thursday Blog. The theme this week is The Great Outdoors... then I figured, hey I don't know anyone that keeps their cows inside, they are always in the great outdoors so this one sort of fits.... I am going with that alright? But do check out their site and see some really great outdoor cards!

Ok it is bold and kind of bright, but I love how it turned out! My Sister who collects black and white cows will love this one!

Well gotta run right now... but I haven't forgotten the Blog Candy! This afternoon I will put the numbers to the Random.org site and get the winners and be back to post here! Still a little bit of time to get in to the drawing.... hurry.....

Magnolia Summer Stamp Club is in the house!

My Magnolia Summer Stamp Club arrived yesterday! Woo hooo! Sadly I am completely out of EZmount... pout pout. But I had to work with a few of them for this weeks Tilda & Co. Challenge Blog. This week is a sketch challenge. So I rigged them up to make this card. I just love her in her little bathing suit! And how wonderful is the the pier for her to sit on and dip her toes in the water!

I started out by coloring in Tilda with my Copics and white gel pen. I then dotted her toes with the hot pink Sakura Glaze pen. Common even angels need their toes painted in the summer! I cut Tilda out and then the pier and clouds and sky are then stamped and colored. The water is colored with Twinkling H20's. Love the shimmer. I pop dotted Tilda onto the pier, matted with green and then white card stock and sewed together.

The base is Yellow Bazzill, with a piece of Daisy D's pattern paper sewed together. And then tell me how cute is that flower border? I found this "ribbon" at Walmart yesterday it is little fabric stuffed flowers on a cord. I do think I must go and get a few other colors of this! The sentiment is from Aud Designs and is cut out with my Fiskars Squeeze Punch and colored with a Copic Marker. Turned out kinda summery don't you think?

My second card is for Ismaki Challenge this week, cute sketch make sure to check it out! I needed to make a card to show off some new stamps for my LSS seemed perfect for these cute little Penny Black stamps.

I colored in this image with my Koh-I-Noor pencils... I know shock... didn't use my Copics! Nope used the pencils and some Mineral Spirits, then highlighted with the white gel pen. I matted on light brown Bazzill card stock, the pattern papers are from Making Memories and the green Bazzill Bling has been run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

I placed everything in order, and doodled the edges of everything. Added the sentiment which is a part of the Penny Black set, and then added two Prima flowers with a mini Making Memories brad button. Turned out pretty cute... even with out my Copics =)

Got to get my day going and I am about an hour late already today... have a great day!
OH..... And don't forget the BLOG CANDY below... check it out I am drawing for the prizes on Friday!!! (NanaBeth.... wanted to try and answer your question... but I don't know how to email you... give me a shout at michelleo@hughes.net )

Thanks for Your "Support"!

Lovin this new stamp, well it is a new stamp to me, I just got it! I made an order of Penny Black stamps so I can play with the everyone at the Penny Black Challenge Blog. A fun site with lots of talent with Penny Black!

This weeks challenge is to use Pink, Brown and Green well that was a good one for me, I colored in my cat with my Copics and then went thru my stash of paper and found these Chatterbox papers. I have no clue how long I have had them, but they seemed to work well together. I cut the pieces and sewed everything down with a blanket stitch. I then matted the image on the backside of one of the pattern papers sewed it down, and inked the edges. The sentiment is computer printed and .... well it just fit! It came into my head and I knew it was perfect for this image and the card I need to send out this week to a very special friend. I matted it and inked the edges. I stacked two prima flowers and used a Making Memories button brad for the center. Now common it makes you giggle don't it!

So excited to have some SUGAR!

I have been so excited this weekend, but didn't want to let it out until it was posted. I was asked to join the DT at A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge Blog! You really must visit this one if you haven't yet, especially if you like Sugar Nellie, Rachelle Ann Miller, Sweet Ebony or Hanglar stamps! Thank you so much ladies for asking me to join in and I hope I can keep up with all of your talent!

My first card for them today is to show off some checks. I went a little country with my checks and the adorable Maggie feeding the baby lamb! I just love this stamp, she is so cute, and that baby well just precious.
I colored the image in with Copics and white gel pen, then for the lamb I used white puff paint to give her some fluff. I cut her out with my Nestibilities square and then a scallop to match the base. The pattern papers are all Daisy D's that I zig zag sewed down with pink thread. I also stitched the image to the scallops. I used the gel pen to dot the scallops and to stitch around the edge of the card. The sentiment is from Hanna stamps. A very country card, but hey she is feeding a lamb so it just had to be.

My second card today is for the Penny Black Challenge. A shout out to Sue for the image, thanks again buddy! I have a bunch of Penny Blacks on order =)! I just love this one, how funny is it that this group of mice are crank calling the cat! This is my kind of group of friends... which is the theme for this week! A card for Friends. I colored it with my Copics, and white gel pen for high lighting. I also used my Twinkling H2O's to make the face of the phone light up - but it isn't showing in the photograph.
I Cut the oval with the Nestibilities, and then matted it on Basic Grey Boys paper, I used my Fiskar's Deckle scissors and cut around the oval, then matted again on the green Bazzil Bling card stock and cut again. The same was used for the base, and more of the Basic Grey papers, love the bright fun colors and I thought the numbers in the paper went well with the phone.
I stitched them all together with something new for me. I used metallic embroidery thread in my
sewing machine. Ok this stuff is really cool! It looks like metal! Duh guess that is the point isn't it. One hint, don't run the machine very fast at all, or the thread breaks. But it is worth the time to go slow, it really is cool in person. I then added some orange dot ribbon for borders. The "Friends" stamp is one of my clearance stamps from Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago! I only pain 1.88 for it! Great deal huh! I colored in the letters with my copics and then again with Spica Glitter Pens. I matted twice and then stitched around it and the image. They were both attached with pop dots to the card. I love it! This image just makes me smile! And I can't wait to get my news ones, there are some really funny ones in that order too!
Well it is MIL day. (the day I take my MIL shopping and to run errands) We have a few returns to do, and lots of coupons for lots of stops.. Micheals, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's just to name a few! Whooo Hoo!
Hope you have a great Tuesday and have some crafting time!

Looks like Mice Day?

I did not intentionally make both cards today with mice... but oh well they are cute and not REAL!

The first card is for Papertake Weekly Card, the theme is hot this week! No really it is "hot". To make your card with a hot theme and/or hot colors.
Well I just got this House Mouse stamps last week, thought it was perfect for summer. IT IS SO HOT! Yesterday was 100, and today they are saying 101! Well this is what I would have liked to do yesterday after running errands yesterday!
These mice are cooling off, after colored with Copic Markers and a little bit of Sakura Glaze Pens, I took my Diamond Glaze and cooled off the ice. Man I hate that it is so hard to photograph things like that cuz it really does look "cool" in person.
I then bordered the image with a narrow hot and pink ribbon. I took scraps of Heidi Grace pattern papers to match the colors in the image, I stacked the papers and gel pen stitched them down. (Yes, my machine and I are still not speaking...) I used some hot pink flowers and buttons to match. I love how it turned out. What do you think? Do they look like they are enjoying some ice on a hot day?

The second card probably also could qualify for the hot theme, but I actually made it with my first Penny Black "image". There is a new challenge blog for Penny Black lovers, take a look if you love these stamps, they are some really great cards there.

Ok, I must tell the truth, I don't actually own a Penny Black stamp, I have a few on order with my LSS, but I so wanted to join in on the blog, and I am sooooo lucky to have great friends like Sue, to send me some images. (Hi Sue already using them!)

This is one of the first images that I fell in love with online. I colored it in with Copics and Spica Glitter Pens, the flower actually glitters quite a bit. I gave their faces a bit of orange glow, as if the sun was coming thru the flower. I used some of my hoarded papers... I found a few sheets of Sassafras Serendipity dp's a while back and I really have to think about using them and make sure I really want to cut them and use them. Do you have any papers like that?

Anyway I just love the scallops on the bottom, and it was my clue as to the colors I was going to use. The two papers are just front and back of the same paper, I used Bazzill bling as a base and to mat the image and the sentiment. I doodled with Sakura Glaze pen. I love the bright colors.
Well please say a prayer for Rosie, my first little girl baby. She has been sick this week, and is not getting any better. I have made myself sick worrying about her. Poor thing has knots all over her and is just plain lethargic and sad. The Doc is coming out this afternoon to take a look. We thought she got into some ants or bees, but it just isn't getting better. I just pray it isn't something more serious.
