Did you see my Clock in the last Stampavie Newsletter??

I just realized this week that I never showed off my Sarah Kay Clock that I made a while back!!! I made it for the Stampavie Newsletter - then I was... well sort of out of it - when the newsletter came out. I can't believe I never posted it here - well I did get sort of "sidetracked" with life for a while... but just had to show you even if a little late :0)

When trying to come up with something "different" to do for the newsletter, I looked up and in my craft room I have a scrapbook clock I made many many many moons ago - and I thought hey, if you can put photos in a clock like a scrapbook page, why not ink up stamps and create a background? So I pulled out some of my favorite Sarah Kays and colored them up....

Here are my instructions in case you want to try one yourself ;0)

I started by purchasing an inexpensive clock, I got mine from Wal-Mart and it was only $3.99. They make a few different styles and sizes of these plastic clocks, some the front pops off and others you have to unscrew the back. Once you have your clock apart it is as simple as finding what images you want to use and coloring them - I used copies on mine, and then tore them roughly around the image and inking the edges to show off that tearing.

Then it is time to decorate the face of your clock, you carefully take the hands off the face, they usually slide off the top of the center. Put them somewhere safe - then find a pattern paper that you like and cut in a circle in the same size as the face, and poke a small hole in the center, then attach to the face with adhesive. I then attached my images. -and for all of the wording and flourishes I used rub on's You can use stamps as well, really what ever you would like to decorate is fine, just make sure that the items are lower than the hands when placed back onto the center - this is really important if you would like this clock to actually tell time :0) - Numbers can be used if you like - really have some fun with it and add whatever you like!

Carefully pop the hands back in place and put the clock back together. You can leave it like that and hang and enjoy --- or you can go for more! I pulled out my button jar and hot glued buttons all the way around the top of the clock - you may want to lay these around first to make sure you get the right sizes of buttons to fit perfectly Next I used a piece of pattern paper around the outer edge of the clock with a large lace ribbon on top of that - I love the vintage feel the lace gives it, but any ribbon would work great! Some of those really wide ribbons alone would work wonderfully! To add some bling and hide the hot glue on the top of the clock I pulled out a bottle of Diamond Stickles and surrounded each button and around the edge of the glass - really does add some sparkle to the top!
Hope you like it - and hope it didn't bore you if you have already seen this in the newsletter :0)   Hubby like this one, he is always really nice about everything I make. But this - well it was suppose to be a gift, and he didn't want me to give it after it was done. That made me feel really great.. but then panic for another gift ;0)

OH and if you didn't get the newsletter and want to make sure to not miss them in the future - sign up HERE just scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link - these newsletters are the greatest at inspiration!

Can't say I blame hubby at all! Wouldn't have been able to part with it myself. (I can say this since I know for sure it wasn't going to be me that was supposed to get this!! LOL) GORGEOUS! Really, really pretty!

Ya' know, I was just thinking that I need a clock in my craft room. I get so involved that I lose track of time. this is a great idea! I love Sarah Kay, and your clock is awesome! And we understand about the side-tracking thing...
