Me and My Space - The Fall Garden, of the Jolly Green Giant?

Yesterday I promised to show you photos of "our" new Fall Garden. I say "our" mainly because I plan to eat from this garden... Hubby has done all the work - Oh wait, I helped hold the panels up while he put them together....

Here is a photo of the garden just before we put up the last panel so I could get a good photo...

Now I know the first question is "What the heck is it all planted in?" These are the Jolly Green Giants Six Pack containers... LOL  Actually this is a bit of recycling here - A family member got these for us, they are some sort of packaging for trucks. But what they end up is the perfect raised beds for gardening. Six holes to keep each plant separate - but contained all together. Hubby drilled holes in the bottoms and we sat them up on old tables from our business we closed last year. Saves the Old backs you know!

This photo is after the last panel was put up and Hubby was done for the day -

We attached it to the side of the chicken coop - Have to fence it all off to keep the donkeys from stealing our veggies - or the plants before they had a chance to grow veggies -

Now if only I would go out this morning and they would be full and have lots of great things for a salad tonight! We have 4 kinds of tomatoes - JalapeƱos - Cucumbers - Zucchini & Squash (Hubby wrinkled his nose at the last two but still planted them for me)

Can't wait until it cools off so we can do other yummy good things.

Have a great day :0) I think we are going to BBQ today - just sounds good doesn't it?

Me and My Space - My New OLD hanging Cabinet

Howdy -

For months now Hubby and I have been looking for a hanging cabinet to put in my kitchen dining area to display and keep safe my Antique German Stick Leg Animals - Hubby was at the point of making me one and that would be great but he has such a long list of "to do's" that that cabinet was pretty far down the list.

Well last weekend while taking the neighbors around to a few of our favorite antique stores we found a perfect cabinet!!

I love it! It use to have that bright green old paint on it. The people who was selling it took the time and stripped it! Whew! Hate doing that. It holds my stick leg animals fabulously! Top shelf inside is stick leg Donkeys - Middle shelf is Stick leg Goats and bottom shelf is Misc. Farm animals... LOL On the top I have some of the horses from our "Show" box. I have a bunch I take for sale at shows. We don't have a show for a while now so I might as well enjoy them a little while right?

We have really gone nuts for these little animals. Most of them date late 1800's to early 1900's. They are a fun smaller collectible. I have seen collection's that have scenes created of total landscapes or farms.... oh if only I had the space!! LOL But for now these are safe closed up and I can still enjoy them. But wait... cabinet is pretty full... may need a second cabinet!! ;0) Better let the new on this wear off then say that out loud for Hubby to hear.

Have a wonderful Sunday -

Me and My Space - Antique High Fashions!

Howdy -

Finally getting back in the grove of life after the big show last week. Was a pretty good show just exhausting! LONG days - clock off at 4 am then home and in bed at night by 11 sometimes 12 that night. After a few good nights sleep we were somewhat functional again :0)

I am now back to eBay  - This week I have been doing 1/3 my antiques and 2/3 Estate items. This week I found two gorgeous Edwardian pieces of fashion - wow! These things are so gorgeous. Told Hubby I should bid on them myself and keep them they are so pretty. But I won't need to sell sell sell...

Please excuse the naked mannequin  -

This is a stunning silk embroidered cape - Dates 1900-1910ish

The back has unbelievable detail - and the fringe is in wonderful condition -

This is an early Cut Lace, what I think is called Soutashe Lace - Same period as the one above. If I had even a slim chance that I could wear this I would buy it! LOL

For a dressy occasion it would be so out of this world! But it 100 years old so would have to be very careful with it.

One I don't do dressy occasions very often - Two I am not the most careful person... hello accidents find me. Including eating and dropping food.

You can see my eBay auctions with the link on the top right :0)
Have a great Friday - and see you tomorrow for Animal Crackers -

Me and My Space - Gone with the Wind

Howdy - Now that title could go a lot of different directions here again! Has it been windy where you are? Man I feel like we are going to have to tie down the animals out side some days! And just about the time it calms down and is nice... another front comes around and it blows like a hurricane again. Oh well it has kept it cool and the animals do love that, it won't be long and it will be 100 degrees and I'll wish the wind was here.

But today's title is about a few dolls I just listed last night from the estate. I fell in love with them when I found them. They are just so cute.

These are 8 inch Madame Alexander dolls from the 1980's Gone with the Wind series. I have listed three of them. I think there may be a couple more in one of the boxes, but for now I just had to get these on Ebay -

There are two Scarlett's -

My favorite is the one in the fabulous Green Curtains Dress - only Scarlett could get away with wearing the family curtains!

But she is gorgeous in her Red and white Ashley's farewell dress

The third one is Mammy - You just have to love Mammy -

She is really pretty but my favorite thing is that they have her wearing a bright red pedi coat! Love that.

They are fun and not huge money to collect, that is why I think Madame Alexander Dolls are still so popular. Of course the older ones are really collectible and can get pricey, but the newer ones are just fun and decorative small investment items.

Now this estate has lots of KEN dolls from all eras - I have sold quite a few of them. I have one listed right now that is just too many memories from my childhood...

Long Hair Mod Ken.. he is too wonderful! Hysterical! He has on a red and silver Tuxedo Jacket from the 1970's... He just makes you smile doesn't he? LOL

So did you have Ken doll? Or Madame Alexander? Which ones?

Me and My Space - Odd and Funny!

Howdy - Now I have talked about some of the items that I am selling for the estate. I have done lots of research for an entire era of toys and dolls that I normally did not deal it. We have really learned a lot and grown a new appreciation for the value of these "modern" toys. Well modern compared to what we normally deal with.

So last Sunday we were at the flea market and I went into a booth and found a Madame Alexander Doll. Sounds basic and normal right? A little new for what I would usually slow down and look at. But I have come to realize that these dolls are very collectible as well and finding them and getting them into the hands of collectors is fun too. But this Madame Alexander doll... well she was like brand new condition, had her accessories and honestly she just really made me laugh out loud, she is a bit odd and funny and I had to find out how much she was.

Yep.. she is a Madame Alexander "Psycho" doll with her claw foot tub/shower and curtain. Her skimpy little towel even reads Bates Motel! One side of the curtain as you can see has the Movie title. Then the other side of the curtain... yep... look close!!! That is Norman Bates in his mothers clothes!! Is that a Scream or what!! LOL  She ended up being a pretty good price so I purchased her and came home and listed her for sale right away.  She still cracks me up... She was part of a "Thriller" Series that Madame Alexander started. Only two were ever released. Now the second doll. I really want that one! "Birds".... love that movie, need to find that doll for a grin too!

Now this next doll I have listed is from the estate and to me is very odd.  But you have to appreciate the talent and complex parts to put it together. This is more of an ART doll. The man who made it is no longer alive. But he was an extremely talented man. William "Bill" Wiley -

You can read all the history and info about it in my auction post MERMAN . But a few notable things - A few really impressive things - Bill created more than 60 of the characters in the movie Nutcracker, including the Nutcracker! He did windows at Tiffanys - oh I could go on and on. And this doll was one of the first - really rare item, maybe too rare? I hope not.. he is odd. But really extremely well made. The porcelain is gorgeous and high quality. Just odd... LOL I think I said that. OH .. this guy is big too. He weighs over 5 pounds! BIG MERMAN!

Some fun stuff this week.. huh? I even listed a few post cards that are kind of odd and funny...

This one really is both... odd and funny

Giant Blow Fished dressed in a suit walking through the park filled with miniature children. Yep.. Odd and Funny!

Hope you have a great Sunday! And I really hope this weeks Me and My Space gave you a giggle, a grin, a chuckle... or just found it interesting.

Me and My Space - A Few Good Dolls...and/or Action Figures?

Howdy - thought I would show of a few fun items from the Estate I am working through - I think I have finally sorted through most everything except for a few of the fashion boxes. Everything else has been sorted and reboxed in "like" items. Basically decades.. LOL It really has been amazing the items coming out of the boxes has taught me so much. I am even finding myself looking at shops and auctions at more "mid-century" dolls and toys.

Here are a few things that I thought were fun this past week -

Lots of GI Joe items have been found - Some really awesome.

This guy use to be a talker, his string is missing. He may still talk if someone can repair him. The great thing about him... He is a fuzzy head with beard - early GI Joe... and his fuzzy head is great with no rub worn spots.

Found a couple really fabulous collector dolls -
This is an early 70's Sasha Doll - Brunette Hair Brown eyes - Her hair is amazing, really thick and full. Many of these dolls have to have replacement hair from what I have read. They get hair cuts to make them more fashionable. Sadly I couldn't find original Sasha clothes for her (yet) but she has a cute outfit and snazzy shoes.

Another really fabulous collectible  - Very rare find here!

This is an Anette Himstedt doll - Made in Germany, this is one of the first released. This is Bekus. Now I am just learning all about these "mid-century" dolls - more modern dolls than I am use to dealing with. Bekus is rare because most of the Himstedt have production in Germany and then a certain number for release in the U.S., Bekus though... he only had 60 made, all for sale in Germany and then he was no longer produced. This one is still in the box and in all his original clothes. He really is a good looking doll, with bright big bold eyes. Can't wait to see what he does on ebay... hopefully someone that really loves these dolls can add him to their collection. A very special doll -

Small but really pretty -

Found a small box with about a 1/2 of dozen Beatrix Potter Figurines. All date from the late 1940's and early 1950's. They are all in perfect condition. and the paint is bright with no rubs or chips. They really are wonderful -

Now this one baffled me for a while I knew who he was but just couldn't come up with it...  You know right off right?

I am sure you just shouted it out to the screen right? Make me look silly I know...

This is Uncle Remus! From Disney's Song of the South. And he is a handmade Folk Puppet. I don't know if the lady that owned this estate made him or if she purchased him. But he is handmade. And the details on him are really wonderful. I don't know a lot about Folk Art - or Black American Collectibles but I know this is a great little puppet. Hope he finds a home in a great collection.

I wish I could show of all the stuff... takes me forever to get things done as I just keep ooh and awing over it all. Have condensed and re-boxed a ton of it and I actually can see the floor in almost 1/2 of my living room floor now! LOL

If you would like to follow my items on eBay and see more of the goodies you can find my store HERE.

Suppose to be rainy this morning... was just nasty here yesterday. Wasn't raining, Wasn't clear, just plain nasty and drizzling. I'll take the drizzle as it does help keep down the fire dangers as that is becoming a scare again. But really we need some measurable RAIN. Finger and toes all crossed for some real downfalls!

Hope you have a great Sunday -

Me and My Space - "I'd like to introduce you to my little friend..."

I thought it might be time to introduce you to my little friend... my weekly nemesis...my fear... Depending on the week I have had the names for this friend go from nice to really not so nice.

Yep this is the Dr.'s Scale. Every week I go in and take off my jacket, put my purse down, shoes come off and then I step on. Believe me if this thing wasn't in the hallway of her office I would strip off more some weeks. But I want to keep some composure and not look like I am totally desperate to see a lower number each week.

Things go well for a while. On average I loose 1-2 pounds each week. But then after a few weeks. I hit a "plateau" - I am there right now.

I have been bouncing around 55 lbs. now for a few weeks. I loose a couple, then gain one. Stay the same, them gain... it is so frustrating! I told Hubby this coming week we are really hitting it hard. More water! More Veggies! More Fruit! SALADS! Chicken! Fish! No hamburgers - No Nachos - No Pizza this week. Yes I do have all of those once in a while. This is not a diet... it is a life change for me. Moderation is the word. I even have chocolate. Limit myself to a just a few hershey's kisses... yes that is just few and then stop. Not three in my mouth at a time, then the entire bag. This week I am ready to kick start things again - more walking! And more water! I am ready!!!!!!

And then... those monsters that attack you in front of every store are out! NOOOO not now I have the right frame of mind, I am motivated.... NOT NOW!!!!!!

...........It is Girl Scout Cookie time here. And those sweet little faces are EVERYWHERE!! So I caved. Hubby got his favorites and I got one box of the fudge covered peanut butter ones, the ones I make do with since they no longer sell my favorites from when I was a kid. Those yummy FUDGE ones! MMM.. Anyway my box is gone now, I did take three days to eat them all. Hey there isn't very many in those boxes anymore. Instead of the old me where I had a box for dinner once. Ok more than once probably.

Hubby ran into them again yesterday - I was actually kind of relieved when he came back to the truck with only those horrible nasty coconut ones. Whew... won't touch those with a ten foot fork! So I am safe. He has his cookies for desert last night - I had strawberries :0)

Watch out 60lbs!

Me and My Space - A Doll Show??

Howdy - and Yes... last weekend we did a one day Doll Show in a town near home. We were asked to it at one of the Antique Shows we were doing. I wasn't too sure about it. We do have lots of antique dolls but we are mostly about toys... but they asked us right? And then I contracted to sell this large Estate... and talk about DoLLS! Wowser. And this collection has a lot of dolls that I am not really too familiar with. Or at least I wasn't... Hubby and I both have learned a ton about them the past few weeks. LOL Scary how much Hubby as learned... HA!  Anyway we talked and decided with the Estate we should really try the Doll Show.

Here is our "booth" - Not our normal set up. No screens, or fancy set up. It was only for one day so no time. But I think it turned out ok.

Right Side

This is a mix of my Antiques and the Estates Collectibles and "Fashion Dolls" those are all new to us. Huge following of them, though.

Other side of the booth.

oops.. should have taken our drinks away for the photo huh?
Here is a close up of something in the Estate that I just adore...
Lenci Dolls -

I have been rambling to Hubby for over a  year now wanting one of these dolls. An older 300 series is what I have been drooling over in books and online. Those two on top.. those are later Lenci. 1980's. Lenci's are all felt. And have painted faces, a trademark is the eyes that look to one side. The two on either side on the bottom.. those are mid years. I think one is 40's and the other late 60's... can't remember now. They are both pretty and really sought after.  But see that young man in the middle... yes... him... that soft vintage school boy. He is a 300 series. Yep.. the very one. But I talked it over with Hubby and we have him priced - a fair but good price. If he sells in the next month or so, then that was what was suppose to happen. If he doesn't.......... well we will wait and see :0)

Now I guess you are wanting to know how the show went. It was ok. Not great, but not a total wash out.  I will say... we did find a few really awesome dolls while there. A few to sell in our next shows, and a couple that may just have to stay at home... I'll try and show them off once they are cleaned up and ready to show.

OH.. you want to see things from the Estate that I am selling... everything is going on Ebay as much as I can each week. My store is HERE - it is fun to watch some of the items. And just wait to you see some of the fabulous vintage fashions... stunning.

Yesterday I teased about something new... how great is this!!!

Hubby has some tomatoes, strawberries and a few herbs in some head start pots. He has an above ground garden in the works out in a fenced off section behind the goat pen. But it is still just a bit chilly to plant out there. So for now they are protected against the house - out of the north wind but lots of sun. I am so excited. We have wanted to do a garden since moving out here 10 years ago. But with the business and Hubby working such long hours in the Spring it just didn't seem enough time. But now.. we are gonna have some yummy veggies and other good treats! OH I can't wait!!!

So do you have a garden? What do you grow and look forward to most? We will add to it once it warms up, but the head start on a few thing sure will be nice!

Have a wonderful Sunday... we have a day at  home planned... wonderful!

Me and My Space - "Our Booth"

Howdy - as promised this week I am showing off a few photos from our booth in the Antique Mall. We still have more to add... and there are things that have been sold and now we have some holes. So we will be heading in first part of the week to fluff and add more to it.

We don't plan to do a lot of furniture. But we have added some that we had in the house and storage that needs new homes. I am sure if we run across good furniture at good prices we will pick it up, but dealing in furniture just sounds heavy to me. LOL

Now the booth use to be that same yellow as our "neighbors" booth. I just couldn't live with that. Love yellow... but not that yellow on the walls. So we picked out a little calmer color and "we" painted the walls. Hubby loves when I say "we"...   so you can see the little bit of furniture we have. The rocking chair sold last Sunday... now where will I sit when I am there pricing things? LOL

And then to the right of the booth -

This is just a hodge podge of things I have found recently and things from my own collection that was ready to go and make room for new. Totally love the General Store coffee and tea bins.. but they do take up a ton of space.

I do hope when we go in this next week there are LOTS of empty spaces. May have a panic filling it back up but will be fun to go on the hunt!!

Have a wonderful Sunday. Hubby and I are going to do the breakfast with the locals, then if the weather is still nice we are going to head off to the flea market. Three passes around usually. One fast one to spy the goodies, one slower one to really scope out inside the booths, then one more fast one for some extra exercise. Usually ends up a couple of miles maybe a little more. Suppose to rain later in the day, just hope it holds off til we get our laps in..LOL.   Hey.. I am almost at 50lbs. gone!! So the laps help right?

Again.. have a great day -

Me and My Space - Antique Mall Case

Howdy!

So we did go to the Antique Mall yesterday - you knew we would didn't you? I took a few photos of our display case and our booth - thought you might like to see :0) So today I thought I would show our display case - next week I'll do the booth.

The cases are great - they are 4ft x 8 ft with glass doors and lights, all along the wall up by the check out of the mall. This is a great place to put all those items with a little more value or that are so small they may be "misplaced".

We stuffed our case FULL!

You can see we love the toys. I hope others do too :0)

A few close ups...

Our Schoenhut Humpty Dumpty Circus Animals - Won't be sad if that Lion doesn't sell... it might have to come home. I took in a couple donkeys too - shocking I know, but I kept the two best ones at home.

Here is a sampling of some of my "breakables". Hubby isn't too impressed with the baby plates, but I love all the different patterns and shapes. The souvenir items in the center - from my collection years ago. Thinning out things and decided to sell a bunch. Our new passion... creamware, pearlware and children's dishes from the 18th and early 19th century. You can see two on the left. We are really trying to seek this older stuff down. Hubby has gone totally nuts for the creamware that is hand painted... not easy to find though - I'll try and show some of that off in a later post. That isn't in our for sale things though.

The dolls... oh yea I have lots of those for sale. I told you a while back that I purchased a collection of 80 dolls. Yep 80!  I have one shelf packed with dolls of all eras - Composition, wood, rubber, bisque and china- I guess they date from 1860's to 1950's I would say that is all eras wouldn't you?

And the other side of the shelf. I really love the Patsy like dolls (far left) And a few of the bisque German dolls were hard to price and sell - they are so pretty. I love the one in the hat and the one pointing. Going through all the bisque dolls, and finding the makers and dates from the marks on their necks was really interesting. The last month I have been really learning a ton about dolls.

That front one in the dot dress you may recognize.. Shirley Temple. And that sitting one in the front, the little composition baby - she is really gorgeous, and I love her bonnet with the wide dark red ribbon.

Another favorite of mine is the cast iron toys - and the pressed steel and tin toys - Those little cast iron toys in the front were a collection I purchased from one dealer, Kilgores - They are in amazing condition - I just hope that someone comes in and loves them as much I do... you can see I have a few of those! And the cast iron stove just amaze me. I had 6 of them in the beginning. Only two left. Most of the ones I had were Arcade and Hubley's. Both great makers of cast iron toys.

There is also a shelf with Yelloware, and more creamware, a few more tin toys and then the bottom shelf is Hubby's huge pressed steel trucks from Keystone and Buddy L - you know Man toys. They are pretty cool though. From the 1920's and they are very detailed. Water tank trucks actually spray water, dump trucks work and are great for imaginations and moving lots of dirt. And all the different Army Trucks - I once asked Hubby why the Army trucks are always so hard to find in good condition - he looked at me and said you never played war with trucks as a kid did you? Uh.. nope I was playing with dolls! LOL

The mall is having a big sale this weekend. All the booths are adding discounts for the weekend. So if you like antiques and happen to be in the Round Rock area (north Austin) - stop in the Antique Gallery a huge mall with LOTS of isles of booths filled with goodies.

Hope you liked seeing our first display case in the antique mall -

So what is your Sunday like? We are doing the ritual morning breakfast with the locals. Then we have some friends that want to come and see the baby goats. Then... those chores we skipped out on yesterday.. yuck! LOL

Have a wonderful day -

Me and My Space - Show Booth 2

Howdy -

Promised to show you photos of our second Antique Show booth. These are not good at all. We had a wider booth this show and I couldn't back up far enough to show you the entire booth in one photograph. You can also see into the neighbors booth a tad... but at least you will get the idea. :0)

To the Left -

It was also sort of dark when I took it... sorry. But I think you can see that it is pretty full. Totally love the  Handmade Texas Child's bed we found, perfect display for some of the older dolls and the 1850's Doll carriage. Hubby's corner wall really helps anchor our booth. This time I took quite a bit of my Transferware, Flow Blue, Feather Edges Pearlware and Children's Creamware plates. Lots of Dolls, I think I told you that I was lucky to purchase quite a few from one ladies' collection a few weeks ago. Toys, more Toys and then a few more Toys. The large General Store Coffee and Tea Tins really get attention too. oh.. and then my new "little" item that Hubby got me :0)

To the Right of the booth -

We put the antique Schoenhut Animals and the Circus Tent up in the back this time. One I felt it was a little safer, and two... we were totally out of space. More toys, you might see a couple of my tin toy washing machines on the shelves. I love those things, Hubby thinks it is funny to tell people that I seem to love the toy washing machines but have a problem finding our large real one.. ha ha. Kitchen tins, Yelloware, Baby plates, Furniture and then Hubby added in a few pieces of Indian War collectibles, have to have a few things for the men you know. But honestly... I think more guys get a kick out of some of the toys than the women. LOL

Larger booth by a little, but it seems smaller and tighter to get around.

Ok.. now a little better photo of my "little" present -

How stinking cute is this donkey. This was a quick photo I had snapped the day we found it. Honestly I never imagined that Hubby would buy it. I mean I knew we both totally adored it. But it is HUGE. I showed the one with Hubby looking at it so you could see just how large. We honestly think it is bigger than most of the "real" minis. LOL

So what is it?  "She" (we named her Sonia cuz she reminds us so much of our little Sonia) She is a New York Macy's Store Window Display from the 1940's. She is paper mache, but is pretty stout, with a wood frame under neath. I don't think anyone should actually ride this rocking donkey, but it is actually pretty strong. I just love her face. Those eyes just melt me. I nearly passed out when Hubby said we had to have it. Problem... it wouldn't fit in our truck. Oh the bed.. but no way was I letting it ride back there. So the kind man we bought her from delivered her to the show for us, that way we can take her home in the closed in box trailer with all the other things at the end of the show. I probably should have just let her stay in the trailer during the show. But I felt sorry for her being locked in there all by herself. So we just let her stay in the booth with us.  So where am I going to put her in the house? Well that is a really great question!!! When I figure that out I'll let ya know, cuz we have talked and talked about it, and everywhere we come up with she is either too tall, too long or not safe there. So we will keep working on it... but she has a home for sure!

Better run - lots to still do tonight (scheduled my post to come on as we are heading out so early) Hope you have a great Sunday -

Hugs and -

I just had to use another one from Crissy's Digis!

This is Star of Bethlehem

I kept this one simple, focusing on the image - I found some star paper from October Afternoon that I thought was perfect. The image I colored with my Copics, using my Marvy Snow marker on the little lambs again :0) and Stickles on the star.

Here is a close up so you can see how fluffy the lambs turned out! I am about out of my Snow Marker so I will have to put that on my hunt list!!

Ok, now for a just a little bit of Me and My Space as my normal Sunday post -
Today I thought I would show you something that I do not collect. I only have one...

This is belonged to my Grandma - It sat in her bathroom as long as I can remember. She kept her cotton balls in it. It was just a part of the room. I have no idea of where she got it, how long she had it or even how special it was to her... now it sits on the shelf in my bathroom just like it did in Grandma's. I don't keep anything really in it. Oh what, I think I have a couple of hair scrunchy things in it. It really isn't my "style" of collectibles, but I love it. Every time I look at her, I smile and think of my Grandma, and her bathroom. Pink shaggy rugs, a quirky pink tissue holder, and the smell of her perfumed powder that she always let me poof on while at her house as a little girl. Isn't it odd how a memory can smell? It does... I can smell that perfume every time I think about my Grandma and this Pretty lady head vase from her -

Take a minute to see what memory's you can smell ... and enjoy something from a loved one. Those are the really special things around your house right?

Ok today we are going to breakfast with the locals, then home. Yes... home. No running around planned. We both need some time to catch up on things around the house, love on fur babies, and just chill on a Sunday at home. What are you doing today?

thanks for visiting - HUGS and
