Getting into Shape -

Not me...LOL - but a card! The Alota Challenge this time on the PCP Alota Group is all about Shape - to put some shape into your cards -

I have seen so many cute little gift cards made with Nestibilites and decided this was a good time to try one - Cut the purple card stock with the largest scallop, then a red with one step down, then the image with one step down from that! Love how it came together. I doodled the red card stock with white gel pen, and then doodled the edge of the image with the Copic multi-liner.

My image is the new "Staying Cool" Bugs, wonder what they are gossiping about? ahem chatting about. I colored with my Copics, I have been really trying hard to learn how to blend them together with out any streaks or lines - you can tell that with my umbrella - The sky and the ground is done with chalks. Softer - then the image pops with the Copics.

For the wings of my little bugs I of course used stickles, and then so the umbrella would look like one of the shiny vinyl plastic umbrellas I covered it in dimensional glaze. Love that stuff - stays so 3-d.

Hubby is off today - mow, mow, mow is the plan for the day - sound fun? yuck - but part of the life in the country.

Donkey Saturday!

I took lots of photos last night... so lets get right to them!

We are still feeding Alfalfa to the youth pen once or twice a week - mainly just for Rosie, but they all get some it is just too hard to separate her out to feed her, plus the others just don't eat it like she does - she loves it! If you look close at Rosie.. the first one on the right, she is smiling.. well she looks like it anyway - :0)


Gloria was more interested in the the fresh water - we wash and fill their buckets every evening - so they have clean water, they love the new water as it is cooler that what has been in the bucket all day. Look close here too... you can see her tongue is out and she is swishing the water around in her mouth.

Just after I snapped this photo of Gloria I heard another resident of our property. Nearly every evening we see this hummingbird whizzing around the tree in their pen. We think she has a nest in the tree - not that we would ever find it. But can you believe I got a photo of her? No zoom here.. just lifted my camera up from taking Gloria's photo and snapped!


Patti is such a sweet donkey - very slow and very loving. She also needs a toothbrush! LOL I had just rubbed the end of her nose, and this is how she said thank you.




Vicki... sigh - boy she has caused lots of lost sleep and stress - it was all false alarm. She just isn't ready yet to have this baby - Oh its coming and I don't think it is far off, but not today. I really think she is finding all of this pretty funny.


She is a beautiful donkey - I wouldn't worry so much if she hadn't lost her last baby - I sooooo want her to have a healthy baby this time! Now she looks really wide, but really she doesn't look as wide as she did, the baby is turned a bit now. Yes... this isn't as wide as she has been -

Wanted to show you how my apples are doing! I showed a photo weeks back of my baby apples - I think then I had 5 or 6 of them... now there are only 2 left. The tree is very small, like 4 feet tall and seriously we didn't think it was going to make it when we planted it. But it is going strong and is that a fabulous Granny Smith apple or what? I see some homemade apple pies... well years down the road, but it is living and doing well now and I can bake the two apples when they are ready!

NOW... I know I told you last week, that I would post my blog candy this past week. But something I had wanted for it was back ordered - but I think it will be here today and I should be posting the goodies tomorrow!!!

Friday already! and time for Just Magnolias! YEA!

This week the Just Magnolia's Challenge is a sketch by our very own DT Rach! Great sketch I am sure you will love to work with I know I did!


I started with Tilda sitting - love her angle she is leaning - She is colored with my Copics and again I have used my chalks for the back ground -

- for my colors I found a K & Company paper stack buried on my shelf that I hadn't used in a long time - and pulled out a few papers to match. Probably more fall colors, but hey it was raining and cool the day I made this card.. LOL

I matted each piece of pattern paper with the same brown Core'dinations card stock that I used for my base - I sewed each one down with a dark brown thread and a simple straight stitch. The sentiment I believe is a Penny Black - one of my favorites, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink, then doodled around. I used a Martha Stewart twill ribbon for the band across the middle. Love that twill.. especially when you find it on clearance for 2.00 ... there is a ton on those rolls!
Then my flowers.. really pretty huh? MIL has been messing with her flower patterns and making up new ones..don't you just love the frill to the edge of these? Really wonderful in person. I used a large Prima green flower for the leaves, jewelry spacer and brown mini brads for the centers -

The Joy of Giving - Birthday!

I just love this Stampavie Sarah Kay Christmas image "The Joy of Giving"... yep this is from the 2008 Christmas collection - and I think it is perfect for a birthday card as well! Just change up the colors a bit -

Colored with my Copics, then matted and sewed down - I went with a 5x7 American Crafts card base - All of the pattern papers I chose are from DCWV Whimsy collection - I matted a few and sewed them down as well - Love that a few have some bling to them - really adds so much to a card to have some sparkle don't you think?
My flower is two large EK Success Retro flower punches and then one small one, I inked the edges with a Memento Desert Sand ink spot, two Martha Frond punches all high lighted with white gel pen, then put together with a jewelry spacer and mini brad. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and punched with the SU word window punch - I think that is is perfect for this image... LOL

I know I said that I was posting Blog Candy this week... still in the plans I promise, just haven't gotten a couple of things in that I want to add to it... so please stick with me.. it will hopefully be well worth it ;0)

Also.. FYI... want to spread some news that the challenge Blog JUST MAGNOLIAS has some new things this week there is a WONDERFUL Tutorial on it by Kim Piggitt - oh my I soooo love her work, and on this tutorial she shares how she does those amazing distressed backgrounds - take a moment and see how easy she makes it look! I love that she shared her secret! Then next week there is something else new to add to the regular blog so keep an eye on all the fun stuff that the girls have planned there!

Peek-a-Boo!

I got a chance to play! And I loved that it fit last weeks Cute Card Challenge! Almost too late, but hey it is Wednesday so it is just in time right?

So when I am playing I have a few stamps that I just adore, but don't get to pull out and use as much - this Stampavie Rachelle Anne Miller image "Peek-a-boo" is one of those images, I have loved it since I saw the sneak peek online - and love coloring it now -

Used my Copics, and chalk to color in and then added a bit of Shimmerz for some bling.. hard to see in the photo but the butterfly actually sparkles in the light.

My card base is a white card stock, all of the pattern papers are DCWV Nana's Kitchen, I inked the edges of each piece, then added a Martha Stewart white border fence, to make the fence show more on the light paper - I rubbed the same ink I did the edges with along the paper to darken that area, then placed the fence over it.
I used my Spellbinders Nestibilities Label die to cut out the image and the red card stock - then doodled around the edges. The sentiment is I believe from Stampabilites, I doodled around the edge of it as well... went a bit crazy but was following the image when doodling. I added the two sizes of red bling along the bottom for some added fun.

Was so happy when I found that it fit the Cute Card Challenge with that added bling!

Well middle of the week - and behind as usual ;0) but I am going to read a few blogs then get my day going - Have a great Wednesday!

A Sketch from A Spoon Full of Sugar

Today is another sketch ... from a Spoon Full of Sugar! I loved this one and think I will be using it again. Love the circle and the flourish!

For my card I decided it was time to ink up one of my Greeting Farm Ian's that I hadn't gotten a chance to use yet. Isn't he a dapper little dude? I colored him with my Copics , then used my white gel pen to add more stripes and high light. Chalk is used for the back ground, and then a grass stump stamp for added more detail. I was asked if I do my Chalk first or stamp first. I stamp my image, then do the chalk. That way any chalk that gets onto the image is wiped away with my Copics.

My card starts with a white card base. The black background is a scrap.. aren't you proud of me I have been really using up some of this mountain of scraps! The grey pattern is from DCWV, and the red circle is BoBunny. I used Martha Stewart Double Dot Scallop for my band across the middle, then added a black and white gingham ribbon. My Flourish is from Heidi Grace - I high lighted it just a bit with my black glaze pen. Happy Birthday is from my Label Maker, why did I put off buying that for so long? I love that thing! Then I went through my button box and found misc. buttons a few of which are felt, thought they looked different. For the end I stitched the edges with my white gel pen and my black glaze pen.

It is a great sketch to work with - hope you will give it a go and join in on the challenge this week. The girls have gotten another great prize this week!

Stampavie Challenge! A great Sketch from JayJay!

Hello, time for the Stampavie Challenge. I hope you are taking part of this challenge - I have seen a few of the surprise prizes and seriously... you want to try for this!! WOW!!

This week our very own DT member JayJay did us a sketch - really cute.

I started with a Bazzil Dotted Swiss card stock, then went to my scraps for all of the rest! YEA love when I use up papers. Sadly no clue what they are...sorry but they went well together didn't they? My Sarah Kay image is colored with my Copics, then I used Rubberstamp Tapestry's grass and flower stumps for the ground. Doodled the edge, then inked the paper some so it would match the pattern paper.. Hubby asked how I got it smudged and why I was still using it - sigh.... I found 6 Prima flowers with jewelry spacers and mini brads, then added some Martha Stewart frond leaf punches. And my sentiment is a Heidi Grace epoxy sticker on a piece of the light blue paper. -
Hope you will find time to take part in the challenge now don't forget that this is a two week challenge so you have lots of time. This one ends June 14th... but don't wait and forget.. I usually do that. And you really need to take a look at the gorgeous work by the other DT... WOW!


So what you working on this week... me - watching a donkey that doesn't want to play the game with the same rules as everyone else. Cleaning. A few special DT projects and putting together some blog candy for one day this week... ;0)
