Sunday - Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Sketch today!

And this week it is a sketch by me :) and there is a super prize this week too!

First here is the sketch -

My card is a vintage looking one - I used my new papers from K&Company for this one and found three patterns I liked together. I inked the edges of each of them, and put them all on an off white card stock base. I cut out a flourish out of a sage green with my MM Slice, and tried to ink the edges of it.. then high lighted with a white gel pen. I stacked two flowers, jewelry spacers and mini brad to top it off.

I really wanted to do the eyelets across the bottom like on my sketch - but in my sorting and cleaning out...well I can't find my Crop-a-dile and eyelets anywhere! Very upset about it, now my sorting looks more like a mess than organized - so I used my Fiskars Border punch Threading waters and a flower satin ribbon across the bottom. I stamped out the work Congratulations from Hero Arts and punched it out with a Stampin Up Word window punch, then inked.

And then there is my image - How sweet is this image??? It is a brand new Stampavie Rachelle Anne Miller image! newly released! "Bundle of Joy" - I love it. Now I know I probably should have done the traditional colors as a baby card - but for some reason it just went together this way and I really like the colors - Colored with my Copics and high lighted with white gel pen, then inked the edges, then doodled just a little bit.

What is Black, White and Red all over?

Don't know why but this weeks Magnolia Vs. Stampavie challenge had me remembering all of those silly jokes we use to tell as kids... actually it is just a Color Challenge this week, but for some reason... just made me silly...

Well as you can tell the colors for this weeks challenge is Black White and Red. Love this combo, just really don't use it very often. For my card I decided it was the perfect time for a Congrats to a Graduate.

I started with the the Stampavie Leere Aldrich image Graduation Girl isn't she just so smart looking! And I love that she has her little poodle under her arm! As per the challenge I used my Copics and dressed her all in black and Red. To high light her I used Sakura Glaze pens... really pops on the black dress. I cut with my Nestibilities oval, matted with a larger red oval and doodled the edges with the glaze pen.

The base of the card is Bazzil Black card stock, with DCWV pattern paper, white card stock punched with a Martha Steward Double Dot Scallop punch backed with red card stock. It is all stitched down with the glaze pen. I then added a layer of gingham black and white ribbon, and a white Prima flower, and red Micheals bridal flower. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and is punched with a Stampin Up Word Window punch.

Adding some Shape to Magnolia Vs.Stampavie Challenge

Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Sunday - and this week is for a shaped card! - Now I don't know how much shape my card has, but it does have some zig and zag to it!

I really was stumped for this card... I started with a circle card - no mojo there, then I was trying for an oval for an Easter card - that ended up in the trash quick. I just couldn't work with anything. I then while digging thru my stuff found this sticker... yep that is a giant sticker from Heart and Home Collectibles. I Love it, and it needed a special perfect image to go with it... Well don't you think that Tilda with Lilacs is just that!I started with the base of an olive card stock from Papertrey Ink, folded it to fit the sticker first then a seat for Tilda to sit on. I inked the edge of the sticker with purple ink, and the white gel pen stitched the edges. I ran two pieces or ribbon across the bottom fold - stacked one on top of the other. The sentiment is stamped in purple as well and scallop cut and inked. I had no flowers to match so I pulled out three white flowers and used my Copics and air compressor to give them their purple color, used jewelry spacers and mini brads to put them together, then Martha frond leaves as well.
For Tilda I colored her with my Copics, and high lighted with white gel pen, then cut out with my Fiskars kraft knife. Now for those Lilacs.... I colored them with my Copics.... but I wanted more... more texture - I decided this was a perfect time to pull out some Flower Soft that I got a few weeks ago - this stuff is really amazing - and super easy to use. I just dotted glue onto the flower section and sprinkled the fluffy stuff on top, presses down a bit and there it is! Pretty huh?

I like how this one turned out, and I really love that it sits up on its own - wonderful shape, and fun. I think I will make a few more of these -

You just have to run over to see how the other DT on Magnolia Vs. Stampavie got their cards into shape! Those girls really do inspire me. And don't forget there is always a great prize up for grabs.

Still don't know what was in the barn yesterday - Hubby says he will check it out again later, maybe sit just outside the door and see what moves around when they think no one is there. Me... I'll just watch from the window of the house. I am not afraid mind you - but I am leaning towards it being a skunk, and I prefer to stay away that smell!

Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Mother's Day cards!

This week on Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge the theme is Mother's Day Cards.. I know we all love making girly cards and one to honor the Mom in our life is a perfect excuse to really foof it up with flowers and charms. Is Foof a real word?

I started by choosing one of Stampavie's Sarah Kay images, this isn't a "MOM" with a baby but she is pretending right? This is called Picnic Time I have colored her with my Copics and high lighted with white gel pen.

For the card I started with a white base, then all of the pattern papers oh my... I LOVE these! This is from K&Company's Cut n- paste collection, really fun new collection you are seeing a lot of cards from there from me aren't you? I inked the edges of all of the pieces, including a Martha Stewart Lace Doily border out of white. I sewed down everything. I wish now I had made more of the recipe from the patter paper show, but I had it all ready sewed together, so there wasn't much I could do with it. The sentiment is computer generated in pink.
For the flowers, I found some really gorgeous dark pink Prima flowers, put together with jewelry spacers and mini green brads. The leaves are Martha Stewart punches, that I inked the edges of and drew a white center on.

Wow what a week of excitement for my little ole' blog!

Wow I can hardly believe all the excitement I have had here! The Blog candy has been wonderful and I thank everyone for helping me spread the word about my one year anniversary, a little less than one week to go for it! - Then I was asked to be the Guest DT for Club Anya! (March - April - May) Woo Hoo!!! Then last night I found out I was chosen as a Guest DT for Whiff of Joy too???!!! (July - August) WOW OH WOW!!!! And I have one more thing I have been just dying to share about another stamp DT... but can't just yet... really soon I should.. but WOW can you believe it? I told Hubby I really should go and buy a lottery ticket, cuz this has been my lucky week! I am just on cloud nine! Heck TEN! Even higher than that if I add in my love of my Stampavie and Alota Rubber Stamps DT, I am just the luckiest girl in the world.

Ok.. back to work and reality, cuz I am gonna have to be really organized and keep my nose to the grindstone as they say! I want all of these people that have trusted me with such great honors to be happy with me!

Today is Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Blog Challenge day - and it is a really awesome sketch this week by DT Carla. And the prize?? A guest DT spot for two weeks! Loved how different the sketch was.. well it was for me, I don't normally work with large circles on my cards.

I started with one of Stampavies Lelo Design images called "Roses for You". Now who could resist that frog with all of those roses? He is colored with my Copics, and then I used Stickles on top of the flowers. Roses just need a bit of bling.

The base is a Bazill white card stock and for the pattern paper it was a great chance to use one of my new stacks. This is from the new K&Company's Cut-n-Paste designer pad. This is just one sheet, for both pieces. How perfect was it that the right of the paper turns to a different pattern? Fits the sketch perfectly. I cut the circle with a Circle Cutter but don't have a scallop that large, so I just winged it.. placed the circle on the white card stock and cut around it with my Fiskar's scallop scissors. I inked the edges of both patten papers, and gel pen stitched the edges. My little frog was cut out and placed on the large circle. The sentiment is a Sizzix die - pretty cool huh? I forgot I got them last summer, got quite a few different ones as a set.. need to use them more they look great I think. I inked the edges of the words just a bit with light brown ink to shadow them more.

And how awesome is the vine? It too is a Sizzix die, one of their new 12 inch dies. I hadn't even opened it yet - Well now that the package is open I think I should use it much more often! Inked around on the vine as well. And those flowers? Ok... really funny story there! I purchase it at JoAnn's and went and had the yardage cut at the counter... just loved the flowers on the ribbon, not so hot about the ribbon itself, but wanted those flowers. Well I had a few stacked up and she was cutting away and I told her a yard of each except for this one I wanted two yards.... well just after she cut it... (I am responsible at that point... it is cut now) she says "Uh Mam.. do you know the price of this one?" I say yes, it is about the same as all the rest 1.89 or so... she says "Uh No Mam... it is 11.89 per yard" "WHAT???" We both stood there looking at it in shock, she laughed and said she had already cut it so I really needed to purchase it at that point. Then went and found a coupon, and then discounted it again.. So I ended up paying like 7.50 for it. Still high, but it taught me a lesson - read the prices well before you purchase cut yardage material! Now that is it done and home I have laughed about it, and I do love the flowers! We just won't add up how much it adds to a card in supplies cost - he he.

Wow... I talked a lot today - sorry - just all excited an all - plus I am sooo sleepy! This time change thing really messes with me, it will take me weeks to get my act together for getting up on time. Off now to read a few blogs and get busy, I have "work in progress" that isn't going like I planned and I hope I can save it -

Counting our Blessings -

Yesterday has got to be one of the scariest days I have had in many years. There was a grass fire in our area - and the winds were blowing 20-30mph. Towards our house. A very good friends property was hit pretty good, and I really believe God put his hand over her house, because the flames went all the way around it as close as just a few feet. For nearly 5 hours we gathered animals, livestock and sprayed water. The Firemen, who by the way in our area are all Volunteers and deserve so much, worked until late in the night making sure nothing sparked back up. It got really close to our property, too close. We kept going back and forth from helping with the fire, back to our property to check and see how close it was to us. Thank God it was stopped on the field just in front of our fence line. The winds were coming right at us. At last we heard, many many acres were burned, 5 houses, numerous barns and sheds, and some livestock lost. It was amazing to see everyone, neighbors from the entire area walking horses from danger, loading dogs and cats of people they barely knew into their cars and fighting fire for people they had just nodded at forever. I am sure this morning there will be many out taking count of their blessings that no one was hurt or worse. I know I am -

Funny I was in the process of loading my card to the Magnolia vs. Stampavie challenge when I smelled the smoke. And for some reason on one of my trips to check the house... I made sure it loaded and that it went through - funny the things we do when our brain isn't working... my card was important at the time. Ha...

Well it did make it in time - the challenge this week is Lace and Pearls -

For the base I used a cream colored Bazzil card stock - it is one of those bling card stock so it has a shine to it. The pattern papers.. how gorgeous are they? They are new to me, I got a new K&Company stack by Brenda Walton - these papers are so pretty. They remind me of my Grandma...

I sewed down each layer with a zig zag stitch, then very slowly sewed down the lace with a straight stitch. The lace is a really gorgeous color in person - was lucky enough to buy a few different colors of this more expensive lace at a 50% sale at JoAnn's a while back.

Of course my image is colored with my Copics, and then the bubbles are stickled. I just love this Stampavie Leere Alrich image... she is just too much fun to color - and you have to love all them bubbles with the puppy popping out!

For my "Pearls" I used vintage Pearl Buttons from my Grandma's button box. These are really pretty - I tied them with a sheer ribbon.

The sentiment is from RubberStamp Tapestry - and seemed to fit a lady relaxing in a tub with her pooch - I used my Fiskar's Squeeze Punch to cut it out and inked the edges. Here you can also see the stitching, and the lace a bit.

The other DT really did a wonderful job this week, each card is just lovely! Make sure to stop by and check them out and see what prize is up for grabs this week.

Vroom Vroom...

This week at the Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge there is an awesome sketch. Of course I had to turn mine.

















I started by coloring on of the FABULOUS Stampavie Leere Aldrich images. This is "Going Places"... and I just love the convertible! It reminds me of the MGA Hubby had when we dated and married.








Colored with my Copics, and high lighted with white gel pen, I then I took the close up photo with an odd angle so you could also see the dimensional glaze I added... a really shiny wax job on this car!








The pattern papers are all My Minds Eye Laundry Line collection. Again hard to see in the photo, but they all have a glitter to them. Love these papers. I matted everything with BoBunny scraps of brown dotted paper, and for some fun I used a Martha Stewart Border punch on the side of the image mat. The base is a dark brown card stock. The edges of everything is inked. I love the ribbon.. and am getting really low on it! American Crafts I believe - Sorry my bow is so sad looking, it just wouldn't stay up and pretty. The sketch shows a pin on the corner of the image, and by luck I found a heart pin by Heidi Grace to use on mine. I was stumped for a time on what to use for a sentiment. You see because I turned my card on its side and my image was so large, I didn't have much room for a sentiment. I decided to do something vertical - and found these wonderful Paper Studio letter dots - the match pretty well I think. I doodled the edges of the image, and then for a finishing touch... I used silver adhesive dots for hubcaps on the car!








You really must go and see the rest of the DT cards - it amazes me how different so many cards can look all made with the same sketch as a starting place. Wonderful! Hope you will join in this week too!

I had a lot of comments asking me when Macie is due... my fat pregnant donkey. She still has about another two months - imagine carrying that around that much longer!

Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Color Challenge Week 14

YEA it is Magnolia Vs. Stampavie day, I do love this challenge. And this week is a great Color Challenge -


"Week 14* Colour Combo Challenge

How to take part in this week Colour Challenge, you will notice in the Ovals there are colours, These are the colours your work should be (of course excluding the flesh colours etc on your stamped images) The Stampin up colours are listed in the ovals, as we know a lot of people are getting more into stampin up and like to know what shade's the colours are. But don't worry if you don't have stampin up, just use as close as possible to the above colours. And most of all ENJOY! "

Well the last M vs. S colour challenge was all me, loved the colors as soon as I saw them, but this one... well I sat and stared at it awhile... hmmmm how will I get all these colors together. Guess that is the "fun" part of a challenge is thinking outside your normal box.

I started going thru all my pattern papers to see if I could make anything work. And then WHAM! The Basic Grey Periphery Line! Perfect color matches! So I then picked out card stocks to match and went to work. Starting with one of my all time favorite Tilda's. I just love her little smocked blouse and polk-a-dot bow on her hat. My Grandma made me a million little dresses and shirts like this one when I was a kid.

She is colored with my Copics and highlighted with white gel pen. Then cut out. I found two pieces of the Periphery papers I liked used one as the back ground and the other had this gorgeous rose on it, I cut around the rose and layered it on the striped paper. I layered the card stocks and then at the last minute decided to punch the green card stock with the Martha Steward Fence Border Punch.. something about the rose and picket fence... who knows. I loved the flourishes on the striped paper, but wanted it to pop just a bit more, so with my Making Memories Slice I cut out two flourishes to add to the paper, more bold, I think. Everything is inked on the edges with light brown ink. Then for the sentiment I again used the Making Memories Slice and cut out a library tag, used the inside to stamp the word "Hello!" on, inked the edges so it would stand out more, and used MM mini button brads to attach. Gel pen stitched the edges of it, and the pop dotted Tilda in the center.

For being so nervous about the colors at the start, I do like how it all came together!

The other DT really outdid themselves, wow! You just have to go over and see their work. And then you MUST do a card yourself... you see Donna has a GREAT prize this week!!!

A wonderful sketch for this weeks Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge!

Hello and Happy Monday - this week on the Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge we had a bit of delay. I hope that things are up and running now because my post is scheduled, and I don't want to go "live" before the challenge.

I really wanted to do some different things with this sketch. I get in the habit of doing square all the time and love when I get reminded to do 5x7's.... this sketch did just that for me.

The pattern papers are My Minds Eye Laundry Line, yummy and glittery. I found a peach colored card stock for the base and for the band across the middle. I made two or three different bands for the middle and decided I liked this one best. Punched on both sides with one of Martha Stewart's border punches. I dotted the edges of it with white gel pen, and then added a small satin ribbon in the same shades of the papers.

My image is one of the new

Lelo Designs, and is called "Hippo Birthday" isn't that a cute name! Colored with my Copics, and then I added two metal corner brads, they really look pink here... they match better in person.

I distressed the edges of all the layers, I don't do that very often, wowow what a mess... the puppy was rolling in paper fuzz! Had to grab her up quick and clean it up and off of my. Wow messy, but I like the look! LOL

Monday again... the start of another week - I got lots of crafting done yesterday, actually a day or two ahead, that is really rare for me lately! Did you get to craft Sunday to? That seems to be a great day for me to get stuff done, especially in the evening.

Magnolia Vs. Stampavie in Color!

This week on the Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge we are in color! A color challenge and a really great combo...

I just love these colors together don't you. The names are Stampin Up names, but if you don't use that do like I did and just match up best as you can!

For my card I started with the Sage Meadow (or teal-ish blue color) as my base. I then picked a couple of pattern papers that fit the challenge. First is a soft glittered background paper from My Minds Eye Laundry Line collection. I inked the edges and then sewed with a zig zag stitch. I found a scrap piece of light brown with a pink swirl - sorry can't come up with the name at the moment, and it was left overs from a card a while back. I matted it on pink card stock and sewed it down. The sentiment is from Lockheart Stamp co. and was perfect for one of my Magnolia Tildas that I have never inked up. I know a true shame. Well she has been inked, stamped and colored with my copics, all in the challenge colors. The ribbon is from Making Memories and is part of the Sabrina collection. I finished off by cutting a swirl with my MM Slice, high lighting with a gel pen, then topping with felt flowers, a spacer and large brown brad. Love the color combo - and thought this one came out pretty cute.

I had a couple of questions yesterday of what kind of dog Libbie is. She is a Toy Australian Shepherd. She will probably end up 8-10 inches tall and about the same in weight. A smart, but tiny dog. And absolutely adorable!

Today is the Super Bowl... we are having a Super Bowl BBQ... Hubbie's brother and his family are coming over too meet Libbie and eat a late lunch. We don't watch football - so the TV won't even come on, but hey everyone else in America is having a Bowl party and we are closed at our business because of the game, so we figured we would have a party too.

Double up for the Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge!

This week the Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge Blog has some "Double Trouble"! And it is some fun trouble...

Double Trouble

This weeks challenge is Double Trouble. What do you mean by Double Trouble? You may be asking...Well The rules this week are you MUST use at least 2 Different Stamps on your work ( can use more if you wish) remembering they have to be on our list, Magnolia & Stampaive Stamps only. Get your creative mind going, see what you can come up with , more than 1 stamp on your work this week."

Now for me... I went a bit further than the two stamps, hope that was ok, but for my project... it just needed sooooo much more!

I created a gift pail, with 4 different Stampavie Leere Aldrich images, 2 different Magnolia images to create a scene around the pail. I started with my Copics and my air system, to create the sky, grass, road and brick path. Then stamped all of the different images right on top of the background colors. (I had placed everything out so I knew exactly where I was putting everything. The car is actually stamped and cut out then placed onto the road, and because my paper was just about an inch short of reaching around, that is where I used the large tree from Magnolia to fill the gap. ( which I just noticed you can't see in any of my photos.. LOL sorry)

Now two of my images from Stampavie is actually on the top of the can for some added fun, and filler. I then put ribbon on the top and bottom, some matching ribbons for frills on the handle, and then some white and light blue flower, spacers and mini brads. I love how it turned out - And this whole project was a recycled can... so that was even better. This can is one of the many that I have gotten Michael's Bridal Flowers in. Love that they are shorter and wider than most you can purchase, and they make the flowers a really great deal when you figure in using the pail.

Sunday tied in Bows -

Sunday Magnolia vs. Stampavie Challenge! And this week we are all Bows!

"Do anything from an atc, altered art project, handmade gift, card, tag etc. as long as it has Bows on, at least 1 bow that you have handmade. There is tons of ways you can change the look of bows, a flat bow , a big bouncy bow with lots of layers, simple little bow etc i think you get the drift now?"


I love big flowing bows, there are some blogs I visit where there bows just make me sit and stare at them trying to figure out how they make them so pretty! Me.. I do good to tie a knot most of the time. I really worked hard on this bow, and it still looks sad and flat to me, but it is technically a bow! I started by using one of the newer Magnolia images, don't you just love that these are larger? Colored with my Copics, I tried to use the same colors as one of my favorite pattern papers from K&Company. I have to really think hard when using this paper as I don't ever want to run out of this paper stack, called "Classic K". I used my new Martha Stewart small scalloped heart punch across the bottom of one of the patterns, then the gorgeous rose pattern, I found a darker piece in the stack and used it as mats behind the image and the wonderful sentiment, love this one from Rubber Stampede. I sewed everything down with either blanket stitches or straight stitches.


Now that bow... the ribbon is a Martha Stewart satin ribbon, tied over and over and over again until I settled on this one. And just because it had to have them, I stacked some Prima flowers, with jewelry spacers and mini brads.
