2 Cards for Tuesday!

Yes today I have two cards to share...

First it is Tuesday and that means it is time for A Spoon Full of Sugar!! And let me tell you I really enjoyed this challenge! I just love DT member LIM's cards and this week she shared a sketch for us to all play with!!

For my card today I had just gotten my Magnolia Spring kit... which really confused me, I haven't gotten the past two kits hmmm?? I emailed a million times trying to find out why and then decided that oh well I guess I just need to give up and not worry with them anymore. And then what arrived in the mail? Yep the next kit - I started to send it back, then decided it wasn't worth the trouble and besides they were awful cute.

For my card I used K &Company Classic K paper collection. You can't tell in this photo but the dot pattern that I used as the back paper, has a dark rose dot... that is where I got my colors for Tilda from. She is colored with my Copics, the background I used E53 Raw Silk and just went the same way vertical over and over... I think it give a linen look for the background to her. I cut her with my Nestibilities circle and then out of one of the pattern papers I cut a matching scallop. I high lighted her and gel pen stitched the edge with a white gel pen.

I followed the sketch and picked the patterns and the base. I inked the edges of all the pieces, and matted some of them. After putting all the pieces together I added dew drops for the "spots" that are part of the sketch. Prima flowers on the bottom corner, and a ancient sticker from my stash for the sentiment. This sketch looks like a lot - but wow just following it I think makes one fabulous card! Please do take the time to pop over to A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge and see all of the really gorgeous cards the DT put together and then get the sketch and take part yourself! A great prize again this week!
And now the card I just had to show off today!!! A sneak peak of one of the new Digi images from The Greeting Farm that will be available April 1st! No joke!
Meet Grad Ian! Is he one smart looking dude or what?
My Ian is colored with my Copics, and then cut out. The base of my card is black card stock with a piece of scrap yellow as a partial mat. The red dot scalloped paper is from Sassafrass Lass - love those scalloped bottoms. And then I just couldn't resist a piece of Karen Fosters grade school paper :) I punched the left side with a EK Success spiral punch. I tied a piece of gingham black and white ribbon around the center, and then typed out the sentiment with a label maker. Three vintage buttons from my Grandmother's button box and then white gel pen stitching around the edge finish off this card!
How perfect is this for a coming Graduation card? And if you don't have a gentleman graduating... don't worry Anya is a Grad too :) Do make sure to check out The Greeting Farm Site and see other sneak peeks and for more see the Club Anya Blog too!
Whew... that was a lot - I think I am going to go and get my bowl of Shredded mini wheat and visit a few blogs before I get busy -
Have a great day!

I am digging Ginger!

Ginger from InStyle Stamps that is! Isn't she perfect for a Spring cards?

Some of you may not know that my husband and I have a plant nursery... so Spring is a biggie around our house. Busy Busy Busy... but it also is so beautiful! I love all "planting" types of images but Ginger from InStyle just really is a fun one for me... guess that is because I am having so much fun with all of the Retro stamps right now.

Hubby looked at and said "hmmm I like it, but really different for you"... so what is different? I guess it is a little different than my normal colors and the vintage roses, that I love BTW.. oh well I like it, I started by coloring Ginger with my Copics, and cutting out with Nestibilities, scalloped with a pink pattern paper from DCWV Garden Party collection. I found a green pattern in the same collection that I loved with the colors I had used for Ginger, very rare I color before picking out the papers, but I was watching TV and not planning... LOL I used a paper piercer and ran lines around the green pattern, then inked to make them pop. All the corners are rounded. Now about those vintage roses, that is a Martha Stewart place card - rounded corners and inked the edges.

A brown Coredinations card stock is used as the base, with a Martha Stewart Double Dot Scallop border punch, to fill the space that was lost with the punch I layered the pink pattern on the backside of the card stock. Really makes the scallops and dots pop. The sentiment - I ordered some "type" stickers recently. I wasn't really happy with them, oh they are the perfect size and color - but they are printed wrong - off to the left of every sticker, makes it hard to line them up and when placed side by side... huge gaps between the letters. Well rather than pitching them, I layered them - I am ok with it - guess I'll keep them and use the rest of them the same way.

Hope you like my "different" card as Hubby called it, more importantly I hope you liked Ginger too... InStyle is really coming out with a whole bunch of really fabulous new images on the 1st... make sure to check it out!

Have a great Monday -

What is Black, White and Red all over?

Don't know why but this weeks Magnolia Vs. Stampavie challenge had me remembering all of those silly jokes we use to tell as kids... actually it is just a Color Challenge this week, but for some reason... just made me silly...

Well as you can tell the colors for this weeks challenge is Black White and Red. Love this combo, just really don't use it very often. For my card I decided it was the perfect time for a Congrats to a Graduate.

I started with the the Stampavie Leere Aldrich image Graduation Girl isn't she just so smart looking! And I love that she has her little poodle under her arm! As per the challenge I used my Copics and dressed her all in black and Red. To high light her I used Sakura Glaze pens... really pops on the black dress. I cut with my Nestibilities oval, matted with a larger red oval and doodled the edges with the glaze pen.
The base of the card is Bazzil Black card stock, with DCWV pattern paper, white card stock punched with a Martha Steward Double Dot Scallop punch backed with red card stock. It is all stitched down with the glaze pen. I then added a layer of gingham black and white ribbon, and a white Prima flower, and red Micheals bridal flower. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and is punched with a Stampin Up Word Window punch.
I love Color challenges - you really need to check out the Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Challenge Site and check out the other DT's great cards and then give this color challenge a try for yourself!
Hope you have a great Sunday! Can you believe April is so close! Wow....

A Beautiful Spring Donkey - Libbie - Nature Day!

Wow it is a Crisp, Clear, Chilly morning here! And that meant all of nature including the donkeys were out and ready to pose!

First I have show this photo of Libbie... my baby is growing into a teenager I think! Her ears from last week were just the start - her legs have shot up she is looking so skinny this week, and she is eating like a horse! I can tell she is growing every day - I think this next week will not be so pretty.. her baby fur is starting to fall out.... you know those teen years!

Ted E. Bear (one of the standard donkeys) was the first to greet me this morning - he has a bit of that sleepy look, but still a handsome man!

Then I found Ellie Mae and Vickie... You scratch my back I'll scratch yours :)

As I came towards the youth pen... Rosie was hurrying over to get her head rubbed, well that and plead for some Alfalfa... she LOVES it, probably most of all the donkeys. No Alfalfa.. but new hay bales are coming in later today... that will make her a happy too.

And then I had to add some nature photos.. I just Love Spring! First is a Cardinal in the oak tree. I had to zoom quite a bit that is why it is a bit fuzzy - we have literally hundreds of these birds on our property - people that are not from here are really amazed at how brilliant red they are and how many they see.

And my tree rose in the back yard is getting ready to have lots of pretty roses! mmm they smell so wonderful!

Hope you enjoyed today's photos... me I am off to the grocery store... arghhhh I hate going on Saturday mornings... but we are almost in crisis situations with much needed items so I can't wait until next week. Do you have a fun weekend planned? I would love you to tell me about it, cuz me.. grocery store, laundry and cleaning....

HERE are my Questions & Answers for my "Get to know the DT" trivia:
What is your favorite color combination for crafting?
toss up between pink/brown and green/purple

If you were stuck on a deserted island, and a box washed up on shore, what 5 craft supplies would you most want to find inside?
copic markers, glittery pattern papers, ribbon, border punch, flowers

What is your favorite coloring medium?
copic markers

What embellishment can you not live without?
flowers or bling

What are your hobbies (other than paper crafting)?
use to do needle crafts.. can't remember the last time I did it - I do like to read as well.

What’s your favorite spring time activity?
Watching baseball games!

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go?
I am pretty much a home body - but wouldn't mind a week or so on a beach anywhere...

When you were little, who was your favorite super hero and why?
I wasn't in to too many super hero's.. loved mighty mouse cartoons does that count?

What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?
The problem is I never throw anything away.... I think I will want it later - I should throw away all of the tons of old cheap scrapbook papers I purchased a decade ago... I will probably never use it!

If you were an animal, what would you be?
EASY... one of my own Mini Donkeys then I would know I would be spoiled.

If you could have an endless supply of any food item, what would you get?
Mexican Food

What is your favorite movie?
Tremors .. 1,2,3,4 or the TV series.

Who is your favorite actor/actress?
I don't really have one.. I just love funny action movies.

Do you have a pet? If so, what do you have?
one puppy a toy Australian Shepherd, a Cat and 32 donkeys!

How did you first get introduced to stamping?
hard to say I think it was a combination of magazines and Internet sites

And for my Inspirational project....

We were asked to make a Home Decor item with any of the InStyle stamps.. well I thought it was time to update the clock in my craft area!!!

I purchased a very inexpensive clock at the store - I think it was less than $5.00 - I took the plastic top off the top and used it for sizing my pattern paper, traced and cut the circle out. Carefully removed the handles and placed the pattern paper inside the clock making a hole in the center for the clock piece to come through. Rub-on's are used for the numbers - I believe these are American Crafts. I stamped out two InStyle images, at one you see SusieQ and at 6,7,and 8 your find Sheree ... both are colored with my Copics and then the bubbles and tub for Sheree are highlighted with Shimmerz and Stickles. They are loosely cut out and then I inked the edges.

Now I found in my stash a few weeks ago this transparency overlay - for some reason it just seemed to fit with this clock - a reminder of sorts - And Shopping and Bubble Baths... yea.. what all girls love! I then added a few tiny Prima flowers with stickles centers.
I put the clock all back together - hands and then the cover. Around the outside with glue dots I added a piece of satin ribbon and more Prima flowers... I really like how it came out - and every time I check the time I can remind myself... to do what I love!

Ok - now you can HOP on over to all of the other DT's then make sure to visit the Forum to vote... No pressure to vote for me.. but if you really like mine... please make sure to take the time to vote! Remember you may win a prize just for voting! And most importantly have fun hopping and seeing all the great inspiration!

Now get going to all the InStyle DT (found in my sidebar)... and visit the Blog as well!

Thankful Thursday Sketch

Today is InStyle Stamps Blog Thankful Thursday - a fun sketch this week!

I inked up Sasha for this one! I just love her.. doesn't she just look confidant? I colored most of her with my Copics, then paper pieced her dress with My Minds Eye Laundry Line papers, love the sparkle to this paper. I cut the oval with my Nestibilites, then used a different piece of paper from the collection for the scallop oval, then doodled the edge. Well this helped me decide which papers to use on the card - I cut three stripes out of the dot, and a large mat for the entire card. I sanded and the inked the edges of everything. The inking I usually always do, don't know why I sanded this time... but I like how it turned out with just a bit of distressing to it.

A piece of wide satin ribbon is used for the horizontal band - I wish I had purchased two rolls of this ribbon I just love it the color goes with so many of my cards!

For the corner embellishment I had to use a flower - girlie ya know - I just got a huge bag of off white flowers - this was a great buy and perfect to make match my cards with my Copics and air compressor.... I sprayed the flower part with the same color that I used for her purse (RV34) and then on the larger "flower" I sprayed it with Pea Green (YG63) to look more like leaves. A sugared brad is used for the center.

I really didn't know what I was going to use for a sentiment - then found this epoxy sticker from Cloud 9 ... just seem to fit Sasha doesn't it?

I hope you will head on over to the InStyle Blog and check out the sketch and join in! And then stop back tomorrow... InStyle is hosting a BLOG HOP! With a great prize! I'll be back tomorrow mid day to share my "assignment" for the hop and all the details for joining in! It will be really fun I am sure! With lots of different inspiration!

Me.. I am getting ready to leave, it is MIL shopping day - lots on the list today - post office, office supply store, craft store.. hehe, quick stop by the mall and then the grocery store before we head home - better shake a leg huh?

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

A InStyle Sneak Peek of "Vickie"!

As soon as I saw this new image for InStyle Stamps I saw roses and a very girlie card!

Isn't Vickie just beautiful! so "InStyle"!! I colored her with my Copics, and then high lighted with white gel pen.
The Colors were all determined from the gorgeous pattern paper - Oh this paper from Graphic 45 is just wonderful! It is a really heavy weight pattern paper, and is double sided. It is hard to see it but there is a faint diamond pattern in the background, it is the same color as the base card stock I chose, I was so happy my card stock matched so perfectly and now that I have uploaded the card... HA .. you can't see the background pattern! Oh well -
I also picked a scrap pinkish color for matting Vickie - this was pretty close to the stripe pattern. I Doodled with my white gel pen all around the edge of the card and the mat around Vickie, this mat was cut with my Nestibilities. For some added drama, I carefully cut out one of the roses and pulled it out and over the oval image, I love doing this makes me feel better about not covering up so much of the pretty paper.

I added a small piece of Martha Stewart Satin ribbon across the bottom corner, and then dotted it with three pearled iron on dots.

My sentiment had me stumped for a while.... I pulled out things like Girlfriends Forever and I am glad you are my friend.... but then I saw this one - and I don't know - it just seemed to funny to not use with Vickie... now common really do you think she does her own cleaning? Not in that hat! The Inkadinkado sentiment is stamped on a K&Company title label that I inked the edges of.

I love this one... and I can't wait to do Vickie in purple and red!!! Be ready to fall in love with some fabulous new images that are coming this week to InStyle Stamps... and for more Sneak Peeks Visit the BLOG!

Have a wonderful Monday!!

Adding some Shape to Magnolia Vs.Stampavie Challenge

Magnolia Vs. Stampavie Sunday - and this week is for a shaped card! - Now I don't know how much shape my card has, but it does have some zig and zag to it!
I really was stumped for this card... I started with a circle card - no mojo there, then I was trying for an oval for an Easter card - that ended up in the trash quick. I just couldn't work with anything. I then while digging thru my stuff found this sticker... yep that is a giant sticker from Heart and Home Collectibles. I Love it, and it needed a special perfect image to go with it... Well don't you think that Tilda with Lilacs is just that!I started with the base of an olive card stock from Papertrey Ink, folded it to fit the sticker first then a seat for Tilda to sit on. I inked the edge of the sticker with purple ink, and the white gel pen stitched the edges. I ran two pieces or ribbon across the bottom fold - stacked one on top of the other. The sentiment is stamped in purple as well and scallop cut and inked. I had no flowers to match so I pulled out three white flowers and used my Copics and air compressor to give them their purple color, used jewelry spacers and mini brads to put them together, then Martha frond leaves as well.
For Tilda I colored her with my Copics, and high lighted with white gel pen, then cut out with my Fiskars kraft knife. Now for those Lilacs.... I colored them with my Copics.... but I wanted more... more texture - I decided this was a perfect time to pull out some Flower Soft that I got a few weeks ago - this stuff is really amazing - and super easy to use. I just dotted glue onto the flower section and sprinkled the fluffy stuff on top, presses down a bit and there it is! Pretty huh?
I like how this one turned out, and I really love that it sits up on its own - wonderful shape, and fun. I think I will make a few more of these -
You just have to run over to see how the other DT on Magnolia Vs. Stampavie got their cards into shape! Those girls really do inspire me. And don't forget there is always a great prize up for grabs.
Still don't know what was in the barn yesterday - Hubby says he will check it out again later, maybe sit just outside the door and see what moves around when they think no one is there. Me... I'll just watch from the window of the house. I am not afraid mind you - but I am leaning towards it being a skunk, and I prefer to stay away that smell!
Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

Saturday = Donkeys and Libbie!

Hello and Happy Saturday!

I am running just a bit late, I was really enjoying my time outside early this morning snapping photos of the donkeys and a bit of nature... then I heard something in the barn... no donkeys in the barn.. I went to investigate - I chickened out and didn't go all the way in. It probably was opossum or stray cat, but just in case it was a skunk or snake - I decided I would send Hubby in later to check it out!

With out further delay - here is my Saturday photos!
I woke a few of them up this morning... they were up all night I guess. This is Black Jack and he had just stood up and was yawning when I snapped this!
Angelina... she is just too sweet! I cannot believe she is 1 year old already! But she is! She was looking right at me almost posing for photos... but then she got an Itch - fences are so multi-purpose! Wish you could see how much she was moving up and down and the fence shaking around.
Ellie, Raffie and Vickey - Still no baby from Vickey... we have at least a few weeks, this morning they were pouting - they want Alfalfa... we got a few bags the other night I think they can smell them on the property. I so wish Ellie would get pregnant this year... she is a late bloomer I guess, I hope. Raffie is the Daddy for Vickey's baby - the last one that she lost was a brown donkey.. go figure two spots = brown donkey. I hope this one has a few spots - but more importantly is born healthy!
I just had to share this photo too this morning... Hubby got me a new peach tree a couple of weeks ago... I have one we planted a year ago - it is still alive, but the big donkeys have really done a number on it. Guess they like peach leaves! This tree will be planted in Libbie's yard to keep the donkeys from eating it. And look! It has the cutest peaches on it! I think I counted 9 of them!

This is how I found Libbie when I came in the back door. She had just put her head down... so sorry Mom... she had been chewing on my house shoe.... again! I tell you - your foot comes out of a shoe and in the next second it is gone! We are trying to teach her no. She is now getting that it is wrong, sometimes, but hasn't slowed her down yet - But really how can I get upset at that cute little pout?

This is her when I told her Momma still loves her.... I think I am really loving that one floppy ear!
I hope you have a great Saturday planned! Me - well I am going to wash the all the "extra" laundry - you know the bedspreads blankets and things. And I think I may work on a few projects that I have coming up. What is on your schedule today?

NOW I HAVE TO WARN YOU... I did not do the normal cute card for this challenge.... When I sat down to work on this project, I got really frustrated. As Hubby said - all of my favorite bands are plain looking guys - Journey, Stixs, Rush. None look really "fun" We then were going for some of my favorite songs and who sing them... I was going for a Gun's N' Roses Axel, Elvis, then it just got late and we got silly... we really came up with some funny ones and how to make them from the Anya and Ian images - Hubby said you know if you really want it to scream rock and roll and have lots to work with... do KISS - Gene Simmons - Well I am not a huge Kiss fan, they are ok - but, well it did give lots to work with!

Drama

and

warning

again!

Pretty outrages huh? We laughed so hard last night I hurt! Very simple card really... I used black card stock, Making Memories dot letters, Thicker's metallic letters. White Gel Pen, Copic Markers, DCWV Black dot paper, scrap of red card stock.... ribbon for the tong ..... and fish lure sparkle eyes... LOL! this has to be the wildest card I have ever made! And I can't wait to see all of the cards for the contest! I had more fun making this, I hope you will put on your thinking caps and give it a try too!

Head bang your way over to the blog and check out some of the other DT cards and see what is going on!

I'll be back to cute cards now... LOL!

"Vintage" Jasmine Baby Card

Sorry I am a bit late this morning... I'll let you know why at the end -

This is InStyle Stamps Jasmine isn't she gorgeous, and I just love the baby...I colored her with my Copic Markers, and the high lighted with white gel pen.

I wanted this card to have a vintage baby feel... mainly because I just got some of the unbelievably gorgeous Graphic 45 papers, if you haven't seen these papers... google them - oh my some of the collections are just gorgeous and could be framed! Not for sure if my card ended up having the vintage feel I was going for though -

For the card I used a white card stock, then layered the pattern paper, I cut the block pattern with my scallop scissors, then inked the edges of each of them with bark ink. I sewed down everything including the image, I found a scrap of dark peach colored card stock. The sentiment is stamped in a light blue then inked with the bark ink. I found a prima flower that is the same shade of blue, a mini button and LOVE that leaf! It is a pin.. from Maya Road, I just poked the pin into the back of the sentiment.

I am just lovin these Reto image from InStyle Stamps

Ok, here is why I am running late this morning. You see last night I took Libbie out right before bedtime. I stand right with her - as she is so little it worries me that something might "attack" her. With me standing 3 feet from her... we were "swooped" by a barn owl. Scared the... well you know what out of me! flying his wings spread 6 or 7 feet across it seemed. I screamed Hubby came running out and the owl was sitting in the tree just out side of Libbie's back yard watching us. They usually fly off and don't like you very close to them. Well I worried all night, didn't sleep much. This morning we went out to say bye to "Daddy" going to work and what was outside.... yep - he thinks he has found a great meal and he is hanging around. I took about 45 photos of him, and he isn't scared of me! This photo is real... no zooming!!! I walked right up to him, that really freaks me out. I don't like him, gorgeous or not he has to leave! We are going to get Libbie a "potty" area that has a fenced top to make her a bit safer, but this guy just creeps me out and I told Hubby make him go! Libbie is not a meal for him, and the fact that he isn't afraid of us, and almost is testing us just makes Hubby even more leery of him.

Ok... I am so late it isn't even funny now - MIL and I are running errands today and now Hubby just called and needs me to take something to work to him. AHHH So I'll have to check on everyone this afternoon - hope you all have a great day and your nerves are better than mine today!
