Tilda and her Alota School House

Today's Card is loosely based on this weeks Tilda & Co. Challenge Blog. I started out working the sketch and planned to do it just as it was. I colored my new Alota Rubber Stamps Schoolhouse and planned to cut it in the oval to follow the sketch. But after coloring in the image and just couldn't decide what to cut out, all along I planned to crop out some of it, but just couldn't do it in the end. So my oval is now a square. Hope they don't mind to much.

I colored it and my new school collection Tilda with my Copics. Now I wanted the schoolhouse to have an old fashioned look. Kind of like an old painting. So I sponge inked a light brown over the image and sanded it. Don't know if that worked or not.

I used a dark red card stock for the base and the mat. And the pattern paper is an older Daisy D's paper. I gel pen stitched the edges of the card stock and then inked the edges and a bit over the gel pen ink to age it some. I used a red ribbon, tied a knot and then with red wire attached the charm for some fun. Then I cut out the Magnolia Books and only used three of them instead of the entire stack, she would have been too tall if sitting on all of them. I cut her out and placed her on the books. The sentiment, which yes, is crooked, is from Hero Arts. I just got this set and I made sure the block was perfect in the corner... dumb stamp is mounted crooked on the block! Oh well now I know.

I got ahead on some DT work also last night, and also worked on stamping out some images for a RAK, so it was a productive night for me. Today may be a different story as I woke up with a nightmare of a headache! I am going now to eat something and take some aspirin, hopefully that will help.

Thrifty Tilda

Now this was a perfect time for this weeks Tilda & Co. Challenge make a card on a budget, to not spend more than $2.00 on a card. Well I have been cleaning and did make a promise to try and use up scraps. So here is my Tilda card on a Budget-

I started 1/2 of light green sheet of card stock, matted with a scrap of sage green card stock that I distressed and inked. The pattern paper is also a scrap, that i inked the edge. I picked one of my favorite Tilda's... shame huh - I have all the new Tildas from the stamp club and I went back to an old one. She just felt right for this card. I colored her with my Copics and white gel pen. I inked the edges, and matted with the same sage green distressed card stock. The twill ribbon, oh that was one of my bargains last week. Martha Stewart on the clearance rack! Yep 15 yards of twill ribbon for .99 cents! Good deal! The card that the sentiment, which is from a paper studio stamp, is also Martha Stewart and is a white deco place card that I inked with the same green ink as the words, they were on sale 30% and I used one of the 24 of them so not so pricey. The flowers are Primas from my stash, with Making Memories brad and jewelry spacers for centers. I stickled Tilda's wings and then decided the card needed a bit more so I went a little stickle crazy. Dotted it all around the sentiment, and on the corners.

So lets get my pricing together and see how I did

mmmmm Chocolate!

When I saw the Tilda & Co. Challenge Blog this week I knew just what I wanted to use! I purchased this Club Scrap stamp years ago at a LSS Garage Sale. I think I have used it maybe once since then. Well it was perfect for this weeks challenge of Chocolate Delight, to use Chocolate, Pink & White. I stamped it with dark brown on a scrap of cream colored card stock. Now that this has a "Shic" look to it, I knew despite I have my new Magnolia Autumn Stamp Club stamps I had to use Shic Tilda. She is one of my favorite Tildas. She reminds me of my niece Talisyn... too cute. Colored with my Copics and then cut out. A pink American Crafts card is used as the base, I then cut a piece of Core'dinations dark brown and ran it thru my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder, then sanded it. Love this stuff! The pattern paper is from Target, and was on a clearance end cap. 100 sheets of different pattern papers from Hot Hues... and get this, I got it for 2.48! Bargain huh! I matted it with a different shade of brown and then sewed around it and the embossed piece. Stacked three flowers and used a button for the center. Found a ribbon that matched pretty well and placed everything together on the card. When trying to decide what to use for the sentiment, I found a journal square from K&Company I inked the edges with the dark brown and stamped the word "Hello!" that is from Studio G, one of the dollar stamps from Micheals.

Well gotta run early this morning, I have to do Donkey duty, Hubby had to go to work early this morning. Need to find my jacket too... a cool front came thru last night. You know it was 101 degrees here this weekend, today is suppose to be a high of 82. Liking that.

Monday... Slugs and Cinderella Tilda?

Running a bit late this morning... Hubby is going fishing, getting him packed up and on the road take some time. I love that he is finally getting to go. He use to go at least once a month and lived for it. Well the last two years he hasn't gotten to go nearly often, maybe twice in two years. So he really was looking forward to this trip. I am happy, but already miss him. hopefully the week will go fast for me, and slow for him.

Now to my two cards for the day. Friday Sketchers this week is a great sketch from Carole from England, and I loved the angled square. It was perfect to use some new Alota Rubberstamps that Helene sent me. How funny is this? I love it, and a bigger shock is the fact that Hubby loved it. He thought they were hysterical and wanted to know what other slugs I had. Helene has a bunch of slug sayings and slug images on her site, make sure to check them out. This is "Slugs in the Rain".

I colored it with my Copic Markers and then used Twinkling H2Os to give a sparkle to the flower, and then stickles for the rain drops. I cut the image completely out. For the papers I used the DCWV Nana's Girls glitter papers. I wish you could see just how much it sparkles. I tried taking the photo on an angle to capture, but it still doesn't really show well. I stitched everything down. I love this. A perfect pick me up card... I mean who wouldn't smile at getting a slug card?

My second card is for this weeks Tilda & Co. Challenge. I haven't been using my Magnolias as much as I use to. I miss her... And really enjoyed making this card. When I first saw this weeks challenge, I was like... huh? HANDS....? But then when I saw the DT cards I got inspired and went straight to this Tilda and the pocket watch I have been dying to used since I purchase at a local sale. I colored everything with my Copics even the face of the watch, I was trying to make it look old... but at least it matches. The papers are K&Co. love the colors. I used brown and dark blue card stocks with them and inked the edges of everything with a dark blue ink. I used a blanket stitch around the outer edge of the pattern paper and a regular stitch around Tilda. Prima flowers in all the colors were stacked and put in the corner. The twill ribbon seemed to fit. I have always thought of this Tilda as a sort of Cinderella image, and Wish.. Hope.. Dream.. just seems to fit. To finish off I used six baubles in brown in two corners. I had such fun making this heritage card. Sometimes I tend to get in a rut making bright bold cards, but I do love the vintage feel too.

Well it is Monday... and I have total control of the computer, the remote to the TV and the thermostat. And what will I be doing today? I am going to catch up on some blog surfing, then laundry and I want to do some organizing and cleaning in our bedroom... ahem.. my craft corner. Hope you have some crafts planned!

Sunrise or Sunset and a Pool Party!

Today I have two cards to share, first is for Tilda & Co. Challenge blog. This week they have a sketch to try. It is a simplier sketch which was actually nice to work with.

I started by stamping out one of my newer Tilda's on the fence. I colored her with my Copics and stickled her wings. I then cut her completely out. For my center block of the sketch I decided to try out the new Rubbernecker Kittie Kits, Cause for a scene stamps. I love this look, as you can tell by my header =) I used the numerous stamps to create the tree and the landscape. But Tilda needs to be watching something..... so I pulled out my new Copic Air Sprayer... I started by cutting a circle and spraying the "sun" and then used the shades of orange and yellows to shade around the sun. The shades of blue to create the sky. I think it turned out pretty cool. I then used a Rubberstamp Tapestry sentiment stump that reads "May your day be perfectly happy". Seemed to fit the setting. I matted twice with yellow and soft green, and then used Doodlebug Flocked brads for the corners. The pattern paper background is Heidi Grace baby line. Tilda is then pop dotted on the card to put the scene in the background. I like this one.... now whether it is a Sunset or a Sunrise I don't know.

My second card is for Friday Sketchers Challenge Blog. How fun is a pool party, and these Alota Bugs are enjoying it. I they are colored with my Copics and Sakura Glaze Pens. I also used Diamond Glaze and gave the water in the pool a shine. The background paper is a fun paper that I really had a hard time cutting into, the glittered Doodlebug paper is really gorgeous in person. I placed it on a light blue base. I used a striped ribbon as the down band and a scrap of card stock for the larger band across the middle. I found a piece of Heidi Grace ribbon that has the words sweet, friends, cherish, enjoy, always and discover. The sentiment is from Hero Arts and is just fun! Three mini red brads for the dots on the left. These swimming bugs from Alota Rubberstamps are so fun to color!

A Spoon Full of Sugar for the Guys - and Tilda is going on Vacation

Well today we have a Spoon Full of Sugar for the Boys! That is this weeks challenge to make a card to the guy in your life. "Man" cards are so hard for me, can't help it I think it is for most of us that love the girlie colors, the flowers, and the bling. But I went through my stash and found some Basic Grey boy papers and one of my cute new Sugar Nellie Hamish stamps and went with it!

I picked three different patterns from the collection and then used gold metallic thread to sew down with a zig zag stitch.

Hamish is colored in with my Copics and white gel pen. And matted with the same Basic Grey paper and the yellow base card stock. I stamped the sentiment Happy Birthday from Hero Arts on another scrap and inked the edges of it and the matted image. I then found two buttons in dark green and ran yellow cording through the buttons and tied off.

I also had a chance to tackle this weeks Tilda & Co. Challenge blog this week they were asking us to "Think of Others" to make anything other than a single card for someone. Well that was perfect timing for me. My MIL is getting ready to go on a vacation, her first in many years to just sight see and enjoy. She kept talking about finding a journal to write down her thoughts and what she sees during her trip so she can read it later and remember her time.

Well this is what I came up with. I took one of the oddly colored $1 journals from Micheal's, that I actually only paid 25 cents for on clearance, and I recovered it with a soft pattern paper from Making Memories. Ok that was a good idea, but man that was a pain! I uncoiled it and then covered and put a inside panel on it. Then I had to hand cut all of the square holes through all of the layers. That took a lot of time... had to do front and back.

I then stamped one of my new Tilda's from the Magnolia Summer Stamp Club and then stamped a purse from Sweet n' Sassy and then the fabulous luggage from Alota Rubber Stamps. I love them! I just wish I colored them differently, swapped the colors and did the darker for the main color and the flowers the peach. Oh well hind sight -

I wanted a little lace on it as it is for my MIL and needed more girlie, so I punched a border out of Bazzill cream bling with my Martha Stewart border punch and then used a coral ribbon across the top. I placed all the "art" onto the front and then used some Basic Grey alphabets stickers for the Title.

I am happy with how it came out and she loved it, so all is good. Now if she will only use it, she is one who tends to save and not use, why mess it up I made it for her so she can't ruin it by writing in it. I made her promise to actually use it so we will see if she does.

Magnolia Summer Stamp Club is in the house!

My Magnolia Summer Stamp Club arrived yesterday! Woo hooo! Sadly I am completely out of EZmount... pout pout. But I had to work with a few of them for this weeks Tilda & Co. Challenge Blog. This week is a sketch challenge. So I rigged them up to make this card. I just love her in her little bathing suit! And how wonderful is the the pier for her to sit on and dip her toes in the water!

I started out by coloring in Tilda with my Copics and white gel pen. I then dotted her toes with the hot pink Sakura Glaze pen. Common even angels need their toes painted in the summer! I cut Tilda out and then the pier and clouds and sky are then stamped and colored. The water is colored with Twinkling H20's. Love the shimmer. I pop dotted Tilda onto the pier, matted with green and then white card stock and sewed together.

The base is Yellow Bazzill, with a piece of Daisy D's pattern paper sewed together. And then tell me how cute is that flower border? I found this "ribbon" at Walmart yesterday it is little fabric stuffed flowers on a cord. I do think I must go and get a few other colors of this! The sentiment is from Aud Designs and is cut out with my Fiskars Squeeze Punch and colored with a Copic Marker. Turned out kinda summery don't you think?

My second card is for Ismaki Challenge this week, cute sketch make sure to check it out! I needed to make a card to show off some new stamps for my LSS seemed perfect for these cute little Penny Black stamps.

I colored in this image with my Koh-I-Noor pencils... I know shock... didn't use my Copics! Nope used the pencils and some Mineral Spirits, then highlighted with the white gel pen. I matted on light brown Bazzill card stock, the pattern papers are from Making Memories and the green Bazzill Bling has been run through my Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

I placed everything in order, and doodled the edges of everything. Added the sentiment which is a part of the Penny Black set, and then added two Prima flowers with a mini Making Memories brad button. Turned out pretty cute... even with out my Copics =)

A two Tilda day!

Ok, I was having a Tilda withdrawal!

So it was perfect timing for the Tilda & Co. Challenge! This week was all Dottie! Well sitting right on top of my desk was these left-overs from my crop this weekend. And one of them is just plain dots. Perfect.

Using up stash, and filling the theme, and playing with what might be my favorite Tilda's. The sad thing is that I had some new ones that haven't even been inked up, but for some reason this paper really needed this particular Tilda. So I colored her with my Copic Markers, and high lighted with white gel pen. I cut her out with a small border. I then stickled her wings.

I then found a piece of green card stock that matched the pattern papers. I think these are Making Memories, but the name is missing so I am not for sure. I matted each piece with the base color, and then stitched with the gel pen. I found a piece of ribbon that I saved from being thrown away a couple of weeks ago. The sentiment is from Heidi Grace. It needed something more. Then I found these Prima Flowers, wow they were the perfect shades to match the papers, and I just love the centers, they are denim iron on pearls!

I really love this one, hubby commented that I really have done some country looking cards lately, maybe it is a new phase for me. Make sure to pop over to the challenge blog and take a look at how great the cards are there!

My second card today is for Ismaki Challenge. This week is a really fun sketch. I love the options that can be used for the circles. I was going to go with buttons, but while stamping my new Tilda I found the flowers from my last order. I thought they were perfect with the image.

I colored everything with Copics. I then cut the flower out and then used Twinkling H2O's for the petals, I then used some Doodlebug Ultra Fine Glitter for the centers. I used a piece of Basic Grey Lily Kate paper, on green and pink card stock. I matted the image with the same.

The ribbon is one of my favorites. It is from Micheal's Dots and Dashes, I think that is what it is called, but it is kind of frilly looking and I use it a lot. I placed everything down according to the sketch and then used a Sakura Glaze Pen to stitch the edges. I am sorry I do that all the time, but it just seems unfinished to me with out it.

I feel so much better using two Tilda's. It had been a while since I had and I was really missing my friend. =)

Well hubby is off today and we are going to work on a new pen for the donkeys. It is getting close to weening time for Rosie and then the other two girls will be close behind her. Can you believe it, they grow up so fast. sigh.

Enjoy Monday -

Good Monday Morning.. Hope you all had a wonderful Fathers Day. I am going to do some catch up today, I have two challenge cards and a great big Thank you.

First challenge card is for Friday Sketchers, make sure to check out this challenge blog if you haven't before, wow some great talent there! This week Jacqueline from the Netherlands did the sketch, and I love it.

I wanted to ink up and use one of my new Alota Rubber Stamps. I love the striped pants and cow hide chaps on this cowgirl. I think this is suppose to be a boy, as the girls in the set have long hair. But I decided to make this a girl with some cute red hair and blush. And of course she is loved some pink and brown gear. I colored her with Copics and Spica Glitter Pens. I then cut her out with my Nestibilities leaving the rope out of the circle. I then cut one size larger scallop out of pink card stock then a circle again with a dark brown. Doodled some dots and stitches on these.

I used some scrap Basic Grey Blush papers and brown card stock, I sewed them down. 2 hours later I finally gave up and just left my sewing mess. My sewing machine and I are no longer speaking. You can see that the zig zag stitches are just not right and even missing in a few spots. Hubby and I worked on that darn machine forever and finally gave up. Back to the card - I then added a piece of brown and pink ribbon and attached the rest of my parts, including a couple of flowers stacked with a Enjoy sentiment that is part of those Micheal's dollar stamps. Oh well, lots of struggles with this one, mainly due to my machine, but I like how it turned out.

The second card is for the Tilda & Co. challenge blog. This week was really a challenge and I don't really know if I did it right or not. Serendipity was the challenge, which from what I understand is using torn pieces and gluing them together. I think.

Well I pulled out a scrap of two different pattern papers and tore and glued, tore and glue, and torn and glued. I then covered the entire piece with some Liquid Diamond to make sure everything was really down. Looks kind of cool, I then stamped out my Spring Club Tilda and colored her with Copics, Sakura Glaze Pens, and Spica Glitter Pens to match my new background. And of course I stickled her wings.

I cut her with a scallop, that actually was almost too small. I then stitched her and the square piece with a glaze pen. I cut slits in the bottom layer to run a satin ribbon through. Ok, this was really different for me, and I was a mess at the end, but I think I will try it again sometime. I just hope I got it right for the challenge!

Now the best for last! I got the best RAK (random act of kindness) from my blog buddie Sue!!!! You can see her great work on her blog Slumber Cards she does some great cards! And it looks like she just got a new puppy! I couldn't even fit everything into the photograph. But there are tons of wonderful Penny Black images to color... she found out I don't have any at all and sent me some to play with all tucked into the cutest little image card holder. She also added in some really cool tags from a UK company can't wait to play with them! And then another card with some sweet words. Your the best Sue! Thanks so much!

Well gotta get the day going, meeting up with an old friend for lunch to plan a Bridal shower for the daughter of another friend. I really don't know when that cute little girl grew up and now is old enough to get married! Wow time flies!

Tilda is swirling now baby!

I love this Tilda. Is it the hair blowing, the rolled up jeans, the flower wreath in her hair? I don't know I just love her. So I inked her up for this weeks challenge at Tilda & Co., which was SWIRLS. Ok, love them too. =)

I am going to admit, this card is nothing like it started. I am not totally happy with it, but I am accepting it. I really didn't plan on the chipboard swirls to be heart. It happened, and it was glued down, oh well. I love the papers! Basic Grey Two Scoops is just so fun, and I love the colors of the whole line. So much so that I rarely use it, cuz I hoard it. I of course picked the swirl paper, and then two of the solid colors. I matted them with the same off white card stock that I used for the base. I then cut the edges of the mats with my fiskars scalloped scissors. Ha, yep pulled out my deco scissors, probably my first "tool" that I don't use that often any more. And I have oh I don't know 15-20 different ones! They really are a basic that I should use more. Anyway, I was going to sew down every thing... and would you believe I couldn't find my white thread!! Every color under the rainbow, but couldn't find my white! I must have pulled it out of the box to sew on one of hubby's buttons and who knows where I put it from there! So I used my white gel pen and doodled and stitched down things. The chipboard swirls are inked with Colorbox ink and then I used Stickles pink cotton candy on top. They are pretty cool looking in person. Tilda is colored with Copics and then high lighted with white gel pen. Her flowers in her hair are colored in with Sakura Glaze Pens. Love them, they are bright and shine. The "Hello" sentiment if from Fiskars Odles of Doodles set.

Well off to start my day... running late already. Gato has to go to the vet today, time for her 6 week check up. I hate when they have to give the shots to such little ones, but need to keep her healthy. (Oh and yes, I think she is a she. Told you it was hard to tell when they are so little) =)

Tilda NO CARD challenge and my CANDY WINNERS!

The Tilda Challenge this week was NO CARD. Huh?? No really no cards, to make something with a Magnolia Stamp that is not a card. Well I had something sitting on my desk that I just purchased this weekend that I planned to decorate with my Magnolia stamps. Worked out wonderful!

Now a little bit about what I worked on. This "thing", a stamp keeper, is from a company called Little Monkeys. I have to admit I was shown one of these more than a year ago at a crop. The sister of the lady who came up with this stamp keeper had one and I looked at it and I will be honest, thought nice but I don't think that would ever work for me. I mean I have all my unmounted stamps in CD cases, I just don't need it. Well I have now a lot more CD cases than I want to admit to. And I have come to a problem that some just don't fit into the cases, or only one or two fit in a case. My Magnolia's have become a very large collection of CDs, with a couple sitting out not fitting. Well I have been reading more and more about this system, and my Local Scrapbook Store The Scrapbook Corral (hi Amy!) has some in stock, so I decided to give them a try. Ok, I had to add a few more inserts than came with it, but they all fit in one box! With lots of growing room!!! And let me tell you I have lots of Magnolias already. (For more info on the stamp keeper please click Little Monkeys above.)

So I decided I would create a scene to put on the front of the box and it will sit on my desk right in front of me. I colored all the images with Copic Markers, cut them out and then placed them on a piece of Heidi Grace pattern paper with flocked clouds. Love Love Love this paper! I started to put ribbon and more frilly things on it, then decided that this was a working storage system so I needed to keep it simply and just attached on the front. I am so happy with it, and I emptied more than 18 CDs! Growing room now on my CD rack! Hope they like it on the Tilda and Co. Challenge Blog.

Ok, because I had soooo many hits and 180 people comment I decided that I would give the main prize and I will put together two little surprises for two runner ups. Tilda's gone to the beach!

Tilda is at the beach celebrating Memorial Day. This weeks challenge at Tilda & Co. Challenge Blog is "Torn It". To tear your paper somehow on your card. Well this is one of my new Tilda's I ordered for summer, and she told me she wanted to go to the beach. What Tilda wants she gets! I started the card with a white card stock base. I used a piece of scrap blue card stock and scrap kraft brown card stock and tore piece and layered to create the ocean and the sandy beach. To high light the tears I inked with a cream color Color box catseye ink pad. Tilda is colored with my Copic Markers, white gel pen and stickled wings. The umbrella is a stamp from Stampourri! Inc. I stamped on a scrap piece of pattern paper, I think it is Conffetti paper. I stuck the handle of the umbrella into the "sand" and colored in the handle with a brown Copic Marker. The Chair and the plane are both from Rubbernecker. I stamped the chair with my Coffee Bean Brilliance ink then colored in and highlighted with Copic Markers. The plane I colored in with Spica Glitter Pens, it really sparkles in person. I love the banner that the plane is pulling. "Hope your day is full of Sunshine". Hubby said it needed some sea shells, so I found some Cloud Nine Rain Dots in white and drew on a sand dollar shape on them. I think it turned out pretty funny. Although the waves might be just a bit scary for Tilda to go to deep! Hope they like it at the challenge and Tilda arrived just in time to create this summer beach scene.

Hello with a few Beads!

Ok, this card popped into my head as soon as I read the challenge this week at Tilda & Co. Blog. I love this Tilda with the jump rope, I have added the wire jump rope with flowers in the past, you can see that here. When I made that card I had thought of putting beads on the jump rope, and didn't. So it was the first thing that I thought of when I read the word BEADS. Now the Red, White and Black... well what can I say, I got a new paper pad last week on clearance at Target. A Making Memories 6x6 pad. It was on the desk, and so that is the direction I went. May be a little strong. But matched the beads well. I paper pieced the dress on Tilda, then colored her with my Copics, highlighted with white gel pen and stickles. The base is a scrap piece of red card stock, then I layered the two pattern papers on scraps as well. Everything was stitched down with Sakura Glaze Pens. The flowers are Micheal's Bridal Confetti flowers in creme and black, centers are mini red brads. Now the jump rope is red wire, with some of my Grandma's vintage beads. The pearl colored beads for the handles of the jump rope and mini glass beads for the rope itself. I love how it came out. Grandma use to make those Christmas ornaments with the beads and the pins on Styrofoam. I have a bunch of them that I cherish dearly. I also have the box of beads that she had for many years that she worked out of. It makes me smile thinking she would love that I am using them. Ok, back to the card. The sentiment is from Fiskars Odle of Doodles set, I like that it is just a bit larger. I almost forgot the metal dots going down the left side. Those are really just too cool. I found those at JoAnns a few weeks ago, and have used them a couple of times now, but each time I am more impressed with them. They are in the card making section and are metal adhesive dots. They really stick down! And are so easy to use. They come in a bunch of colors and I think I may have to go and get more of them. I do like the way this card turned out, and I really like that the rope is not attached at the top and when you shake the card the beads rattle. Hope you like it!

Ok and I had to show you this photo I took of Gato this weekend. We are now thinking that Gato is a boy... it is so hard to tell when they are so little, so for now "it" is just adorable and I can't get anything done cuz I HAVE to hold him... now common could you say no to this face... with that little tiny "MEOW"? And how perfect is it that hubby was wearing a red shirt when I took this, matches todays card! And Gato just pops on the red!
