I will be out for awhile - I have had an accident -

Hello - I have started getting a few emails wondering where I am. I am sorry I haven't posted, but I have had an accident here on the farm -

Wednesday evening while out watering the donkeys - I was struck in the face with a bungee tie down strap. I was alone, Hubby had been out of town, and was on his way home. Thank God our Dr. Neighbor was just driving up the road, I could barely see her in the distance,  and I yelled for her. I have had one eye surgery - and will be going in on Tuesday to be examined... I have lost my right eye. They will start the processes and surgery's to get me a artificial eye as soon as they feel that my face and eye has healed enough.

First thing I want to say... I am OK - I will get through this, I have the most amazing Husband, family and friends that are here with me - I have two concerns and goals... One... I have to get back to coloring as soon as possible, and two I need to train my "good eye" (I say that loosely cuz I have always been as I said before blind as a bat and wore contacts) Now that eye will need to be trained and made stronger so I can get back to life and my second goal... Driving.

Things seem bad... but I have faith in God that this will all end up good. I am not going to let this get me down- it is not my personality to be depressed I am going to get through this and be just as good as new.. just one less eye -

I will try and post updates from time to time, but at the moment, the computer screen really strains my eye so I can't work on it for very long.

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes - I know I need the strength of all of my family and friends - including each of you -

HUGS and

I am so sorry to hear about this accident and my thoughts are with you. You certainly have a positive outlook and with that kind of spirit, you will prevail. A friend had to have an artificial eye and it didn't take long before he was driving and playing golf so I am sure you won't be held back.
Hugs!

Oh Michelleo, I'm so sorry that you have been injured. I will keep you in my prayers. Our bodies have amazing healing capabilities. I have been struggling this summer too. I fell off a ladder and broke my arm. I have been working on cards anyways, as you say, training myself to use my left hand for everything. I can use the fingers on my right hand a little. You certainly have the right attitude. Us crafters can't be stopped!

Oh my!! I am so sorry to hear about the accident and loss of your eye - I cannot imagine. Your faith and outlook are inspiring. I have been dealing with some issues I thought were difficult...but you put my junk in perspective. You are amazingly strong, positive, faithful, loving, and spunky. It is only when God puts unexpected events in our lives that we truly learn the full capabilities He has given us. I'm sure you will go through periods of anger, resentment, grief, hope, and a myriad of other emotions...but keep your strength. It will help you more than you can imagine.

So will those amazing friends and family you spoke of. There is nothing better than a good friend or family member, just being there. They don't have to fully understand your situation to feel the pain you're in. Lean on them - lean on everyone. Any one of us will be more than happy to help in any way we can...and remember, when you ask for someone's help, it's usually a bigger gift you give the giver, than they give you.

You're in my thoughts, prayers, and heart. I will keep checking in on your progress - and take as much time as you need. You're loved and will be back at "normal" before you even realize it!

xx,
Katherine

Hey girl! You have a road to travel and you will do fine with just a few bumps. My father lost his left eye when he was 17. He faked an eye exam with the Army and served three years over seas. Afterwards there was nothing that he could not do. In fact I never knew he was blind in the one eye until I was much older. He is 87 now and has lived fullfilled life. I know he is not you, I am hoping when you hear others stories it helps you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Speedy recovery and give your donkey's a hug for me! God bless.

I am so sorry to hear about your accident. going thru that is tough but you have the right attitude for it. a happy onme and plenty of faith. I am going blind and deaf and have already lost my right eye and I walk with a sight cane for the blind. plus i wear 2 hearing aides and my hearing is getting worse each day. SOOOO, I know just what you are going thru. it is hard for me to do things with my cards but if i jkeep to simple and try things i know i can do everything is just fine and i can still do what I love the most stamp/scrap. I am so glad you have support around in this as that what we all need when something comes up. my husband is mine. your family is yours. how great is that. :)

Praying that you feel Our Lord's tender embrace and His healing Grace!

My dear friend lost her eye to a post-op infection, and now has a artifical eye. She is now doing well, but I know that there are times where she is frustrated and upset. I only say that so that you don't get to hard on yourself if you experiance that yourself and that you allow others to help you when you have times like these. Your Faith in the Lord will bring you thru it all as well as the support that you have around you! As well as all of us out here in blogland that will be praying for you!
Take care of yourself and

May God Bless you and Heal you,
Mary

I am so sorry to hear of your accident, injury and 'new" disability. I was newly disabled in 2005. You are right, you will survive, there will be some limits and changes but you are alive and that is what counts. You may deal with some depression in the coming weeks, do not fool yourself. THAT is OK, deal with it, let it wash over you and then be gone, it is when people do not have outlets or good support (me) that the depression takes hold.

I hold you up in prayer, not just for healing, and comfort, but also for strength and sense of contentment and triumph. lean on whoever allows you to, and let your "humanity" deal with this event as it will, in stages. God and your loved ones will get you through :)

Gentle hugs,
Susan
