High Hopes Stamps - Butterfly Guy

Howdy -

End of June is here - and summer is a time to get outdoors and act like a kid! Well at least for our High Hopes Stamps "Butterfly Guy"

I found some papers from DCWV Songbirds collection. Love the fun patterns and they worked well with our Butterfly Guy!  He is colored with my Copics (colors below) and then sewed down my pattern papers.  Love how the sewing matches the pattern in the papers.

The sentiment is also High Hopes Stamps - "Growing Old" - perfect for the Birthday Card for a gentleman in your life!

Animal Crackers - Summer Cut

Howdy

This heat is unbearable! It has been over 100 degrees all week. I do not do well in the heat. But the attention has been more about our fur children - first up Miss Libbie.

At her age she doesn't like the heat either. So for only the second or third time in her life we decided a summer hair cut was in order. She has always slicked off and a good brushing and her fur was stunning and cool. But she just wasn't loosing it this year so a haircut was needed to make her feel better. She wasn't happy about it at first. Being blind and nearly deaf it was confusing - but she soon started enjoying all the attention.

Ok, so it is not a professional cut. A "Mom" home cut. But honestly she looks adorable and is loving how much cooler she is. She had a cut, a bath and then got her toes done. A Libbie Spa afternoon! She seriously does look so cute!

Now the entire time spa time was going on - Chica was in total hiding. She goes into total panic mode when that word bath is mentioned. Much less the hair cut or toes! Good thing she has lost her winter fur and has such silky thin hair, that she isn't as affected by the heat. But she did end up getting the bath -

"Dad" says to her "Chica you may be a pretty little girl but you are no Lady" LOL she loves to get dirty! She is getting older and greyer, but she is still such a pretty girl.

Now I went out to snap photos of the outside fur children. It wasn't that late but man it was already so so so hot!

Black Jack said nope not leaving the shade!

"Dad" got his pen all mowed this week and it is turning that summer shade of dead. But it still has some hints of green, and now more feed is brought in. But at this moment... shade was all that mattered.

I made sure to check on Darlene - as our grandma on the farm she really doesn't like the heat that much either. But she has slicked off and most of the time stays in the shade herself. All though she did come out for some much needed scratches and loving!

For an old lady she still has her looks!  I spent most of my time outside with her. She got a full body rub done and lots of chatting.

Now I did a chat with the little chicks as well. All though they are not so little anymore. They are growing so fast!

They are all so pretty. And some have some really striking colors!

"Friz" is getting some really long feathers on those cute little feet. She is one of the smallest in the group, but tries to hold her own with the bigger girls.

She is a cutie isn't' she??

And one last photo today - despite the over 100 degree heat we still have tomatoes! Are the plants getting long and and and well summer looking? Yes, but Hubby still has tomatoes turning red! And they are so so yummy!

A great treat - garden tomatoes with cold cottage cheese is my favorite!

Hope you enjoyed - and hope you are all doing great this weekend enjoying some furry or feathered friends!

High Hopes Stamps - Dad's Catch

Howdy -

I am always on the look out for fun guy fishing images. They are just too perfect for the men in my life. I love this image from High Hopes Stamps- Dad's Catch

I think it is the goofy grin and pride with that tiny little fish. ha! Colored with my Copics (colors below) I went with colors to match up with the My Minds Eye Kraft Card stock "Life Stories" papers.  Everything is layered together and then stitched with a zig zag and straight stitch. Was at first concerned about how the white thread was bright and popped off the kraft card stock, but then decided to go with it! And add some Nuvo white paint pen dots!

The sentiment is also from High Hopes Stamps - "World's Greatest Fisherman" great image for me to give this card to Hubby :0)

Now I thought the card was finished... but that fishy and water was just screaming for some sparkle to make them look wet - love sparkle!

Copic colors used -

Hope you enjoyed my card - now pop over to the High Hopes Stamps Web Store HERE and see all the fabulous images to play with!

Animal Crackers - But I'm in a Box

Howdy -

This photo is a favorite this week... Just cracks me up.

Hubby had gotten a delivery and just opened it. We went around the corner to put it up and came back into the kitchen to this -

Now Kitties are not allowed on my kitchen cabinets. That is a big no no - But Bubba seems to think he is ok because he isn't really on the cabinet. "But Mom... I'm in a Box, not on the cabinet" Oh My this guy kills me! LOL he is so funny, and usually always the one in trouble. ha!

Now we were gone most of the morning yesterday - and by the time I got out to try and take photos it was HOT! Like 100 degrees hot! So finding any of my fur kids might be tricky!

Alvin did come over to say hi - Most of his pen is in the afternoon shade, so he is lucky this time of year. But still its hot - but he came out of the shade for some head scratches between those stunning big horns. All though I am not to sure what was stuck on his face so I did the one finger scratching carefully looking where I was giving him attention.

I found the standard donkeys under one of the tree's out front. Cocoa is always the last donkey to loose her fur and slick off for summer.

I would love to brush her and get most all of it off of her. But she has gotten spooky about things like brushes and shedding combs. I really wish I knew who had mistreated her before we got her years ago... would be nice to treat them the same way!

Now  Teddy he never really gets thick in the winter. So what he does grown slicks off pretty quick to his silky summer hair. All though each year it is greyer and greyer...

I headed back to the backyard to check on Libbie and Chica in the back yard. And Libbie had decided to not go into the yard and just stay up on the back porch and wait for me. But this face gave me a clue to what she had found while I was out at the pens.

I asked her if she found some stray cat food Dad had spilled while feeding his barn kitties... This is the face I got. Is that a yes or a no? I am leaning towards uh .. YES. Old and blind but she still can hunt down stray treats!

This was a bit of sad this week - We said goodbye to the "Jeep" - I think I briefly said that we had been in an accident a few weeks back - Well it was a doozy! We were T-boned by a guy in a big truck trying to beat traffic. All though sore and many many colors of blue, purple and green we are ok. But Hubby's Jeep - well it gave itself to protect us and now has been totaled. Please don't judge the dirt - we were heading to the car wash after lunch ... but didn't make it -

Being that it was my side that was hit I really had the brunt of the bruises. Honestly God really put his hand over us and protected us - I had to be cut out and EMS wanted me to go to the hospital to make sure nothing was broke as they couldn't believe I was ok. But again other than bruises and sore I am ok.

We didn't know it was as bad as it was for our little Jeep - but this week we went and cleaned it out and made sure it was ready to sign off and give to the salvage yard - frame bent, front wheel bent, tub bent.... lots bent. So bye bye little Jeep -

And after looking for weeks - Hubby has another Jeep - a few years newer. And much cleaner here -
Now he will start over and do the things he had already done to Red. Fenders - and such But that will be in time - Right now he is just loving new Jeep - Even if at this time I am carrying a step stool to get in and out of it.. LOL It is much taller than the old Jeep.

I hope you all enjoyed again this week - And that you have a blessed weekend -

High Hopes Stamps - Waterskiing Bob

Howdy -

Its summer! Getting Hot out there so it is time to hit the water! This is Waterskiing Bob and he is having some summer fun!

This card is so fun for a the guy in your life that loves to have fun in the water. I colored with my Copics (colors below) and then found some fun scraps from Making Memories. My sewing machine wasn't happy this week so no sewing. But love how the patterns feel so summer outdoorsy ... is outdoorsy a word?

For some water feeling I added Nuvo glitter and then some enamel dots just cuz I love the colors of them.

Copic colors used -

Animal Crackers - Spread your Wings!

Howdy -

This was moving week! The "little chicks" moved from their small little nursery to the small coop! Lots more room and space to spread out and enjoy things!

Hubby did such a great job getting the small coop ready for the little chicks. Doing his best to critter proof it and make sure it was safe and that no chicks can get out as well. They seem to be loving it even if the old lady chickens are watching their every move.

Honestly they wanted to know what the chicks were eating ... that chick feed may be better than our adult feed you know!

They seemed so small for so long but honestly they have grown a ton. Even those tiny bantam chicks are bigger!  But still have the size of the other chicks! LOL

We are very excited that one of the little "banties" looks to be a frizzle! Such cute feathers all over her legs and curly feathers coming in everywhere! Love that!

Now I had a long talk with Old Lady Darlene and asked her to please keep a close watch and keep the little chicks safe from critters as she shares a fence side with them.

Not sure she cares too much about the chicks... just make sure her old people food keeps coming and she has shade for the hot days coming here. It is tough being an old lady in this South Texas heat! We will have to spoil her and make sure she gets lots of lovin and shade. Maybe I need to talk to Hubby about getting her a fan out there? I would appreciate it if it was me...

Now we have some other babies here on the farm... sigh... A few weeks back Hubby found a feral cat out in our hay barn ... she has a group of little new born kittens hidden. I stressed BARN cats to Hubby, he gave me a sad face and I stood my ground and said NO MORE INSIDE CATS. I love ours but we are all full here in the inn! He went out a few days later and they were gone. Then a week later... the Mom had moved them across the farm to the garage. Sigh... I stressed now they are GARAGE cats... he laughed and has been taking out food to the Momma ever since.

So fast forward to this week. Guess what we found on our back porch this week? And playing in the back yard??

I know adorable! But stand strong... NO MORE INSIDE CATS.. LOL there seems to be 4 or 5 kittens and man Mom is teaching them to be stealth like and run fast! Most all photos I tried to take are kitty blurs! But this little gray striped one seems very curious and likes to stare back at the window we are in. LOL

There are two orange stripes - this was the only photo I got of one taking off to hide somewhere in the back yard.

Man they are cute - but they are Farm Cats - outside Farm Cats! Mom will teach them to live, hunt and be strong out there. And of course Hubby will be providing kitty chow as well I am sure. LOL

Hope you have a smile this week - the babies always bring smiles!

Have a blessed weekend -

High Hopes Stamps - Diver Dan

Howdy -

Ready for Summer? Diver Dan is! This guy cracks me up. High Hopes Stamps image that is perfect for that active guy birthday card!

Decided to go with a circle theme... colored up Diver Dan with my Copics (colors below) and then die cut him in a circle, with a mat in a darker shade. Found some older Making Memories papers in my stash that have fun gold circles and went with it! I sewed down the papers with a zig zag stitch, for some texture.

The sentiment is also from High Hopes Stamps - "dive right in!" This sentiment is my favorite with this image. I sewed it down on layers of matching pattern papers.

For some water and bubble sparkle I added some Nuvo glitter paint pen - gotta have some sparkling water right?

Copic colors used -

Animal Crackers - Just 5 Minutes!

Howdy -

All though a little warmer it was a beautiful afternoon here yesterday - I was "getting ready" to head out and take photos of all the fur kids... ok I was moving slow.  And realized that earlier Hubby said he was going to feed some of the new alfalfa to everyone today... I booked it outside and I was 5 minutes too late. All faces were down in the fabulous feed.

I couldn't even get Gracie to look at me! And she is my super model that always will at least give me a glancing pose. NOPE! Well her long horns are still beautiful ... even face down she is beautiful.

Jorge was watching "Dad" distribute the good stuff to the goats very carefully. Sorry buddy just coastal for you - keeping a watch on the extra pounds. LOL he is a handsome man isn't he?

And so nice to get a photo of him with out him shoving his nose in my camera and face!

Moxie was right at my feet everywhere I was going. Making sure I knew she was available for head scratches and photos if needed. More the head scratches, but she got both. We have really been keeping a close watch on her lately.

Our "neighbors" come and go and are not always there. But when they come out it is always something to watch out for - this last week it has been some sort of new dog they brought out. It seems to be ok for it to come over here and bark and chase all our animals. More than once Hubby has gone out all hours of day and night to chase it off. I worry one of our animals will get hurt or... that their dog will get kicked by a very traumatised donkey then we have to deal with that. Not happy with their dog but don't want it hurt. More unhappy that they just sit there and watch it all happening like it is just fine. And poor Moxie has been in hiding any time she hears that dog - I'm not happy here! But vent over... Moxie has been wonderful and stayed out of sight and away just like a good girl should!

Chicken photos are impossible with this group. Once I pull out the camera to take photos they all run to the end of their nursery and huddle. I go do something else come back and they are all roosting around propped up cute and I slowly take out my camera... and this is all I get.

This little one is so pretty... Right now just calling hopefully her "Bantie" and praying it is a she and not a he. Banties are the only ones we got that have a chance of a rooster being in there - all the others are nice getting big hens!

Went inside to a quiet house - everyone was napping. McLaren gave a little meow.. then a huge yawn and then put her head back down for the rest of her cat nap.

Man I wish I could have one too... sleep for me kitty ok?

Hope you have an Animal Crackers smile again this week - Me... off to get ready to go with Hubby and get another load of hay from the fields - gotta fill that barn as often as they cut to keep our kids fed!

Have a blessed weekend - HUGS and
