How pretty is this Papilio?

Boy I am late today! My dear sweet Hubby let me sleep in until 8:15am! (we normally are up 6:45 every day) But he knew I was tired from my fun this weekend... isn't he sweet! Oh and even better he then went and got us breakfast. Yep he's a keeper.
Last night I came home from a very long weekend... you know a hard weekend of cropping, laughing and sharing at my LSS. I had taken a few of my wonderful RAKed images to color (with my distressing inks... didn't want to haul all of my Copics) at the crop and this is one of them. An adorable Papilio image... or at least I think that is what she is LOL! I just had to make a card with her, she was too pretty to not use her right away. I pulled out some of my K&Company that matched well and was pretty colors for her, I had so much fun with this last weeks Friday Sketchers Challenge that I wanted to something with lots of patterns and angles on it. It was tough to just put it all out there and think that it fit well.

I finally got things where it felt ok, I sewed down some with my sewing machine, can you believe I had the perfect matching color of thread. I then punched out two sizes of Retro flowers, and one large circle, I inked the edges, then punched out three Martha Stewart Frond Leaves. I used some jewelry spacers and a brad and put it all together. For the sentiment I punched a heart with my Fiskars Squeeze Punch, inked the edge and then stamped with I think a Hero Arts sentiment - Hugs & Hearts - love that one! I punched holes on the sides and ran a narrow piece of ric-rak through it and attached to the corner.
I doodled the edges of a few of the papers, and then highlighted the leaves, flowers and some on the image. It is bright, yes, but cheerful and I think I like the way it came out. I think I want to work on more of these with lots of patterns. Maybe at one point it won't stress me, and come easier.
I hope to get some time today to catch up on everything you all did this weekend on your blogs, and on the chat boards. I love my crop weekends - but it does take me a day or two to get caught up.
Have a great Monday and get inky!
HUGS and-
